Shows / MLB/ Wednesday, September 23, 2026
From the archive. This breakdown is for the Wednesday, September 23 MLB slate. Salaries, weather and picks were for that day.
Zach Trivett and Austin Hanson break down a ten-game DraftKings slate and twelve-game FanDuel slate. Chris Sale ($11,000) is the leading pitcher, with Kevin Gausman next on DraftKings despite expected ownership. Yamamoto, Cole and McLean offer alternatives up top; Springs and Englert are the main cheap arms. Pitch counts remain uncertain late in the season. On FanDuel, Gausman's lower price makes him likely chalk, while Sale offers more strikeout upside.
The White Sox stack against Seth Lugo leads a game the show likes on both sides, with the Royals also drawing strong interest. The Rockies stack is preferred to the far more popular Diamondbacks against Merrill Kelly. The Angels are another favored full stack, while the Mets, Yankees and Mariners offer ways to spend on pitching or move away from popular builds. Arizona still projects well, but its ownership and some pinch-hit risk call for care.
| Play | Call | The Take | At |
|---|---|---|---|
| SP | The clear SP1, favored over Yamamoto for the Reds' strikeouts and fewer concerns about his pitch count. | 5:50 | |
| SP | The second preferred DraftKings arm, with wind blowing in at Wrigley against the Marlins; his FanDuel price makes him difficult to pass up. | 6:52 | |
| SP | A playable pivot from Sale at an ownership discount, though there was more concern about his pitch count and Padres matchup. | 10:01 | |
| SP | An interesting lower-owned pivot among the expensive pitchers, with a sound pitch count and strong pitcher ranking. | 10:27 | |
| FADE | He would probably be excluded from the pitching pool. | 10:27 | |
| SP | A $9,000 alternative in a game expected to be a pitching duel, with some uncertainty about the Yankees' incentive to extend him. | 10:52 | |
| FADE | The show had little interest in him and preferred Ureña in his price range. | 11:38 | |
| SP | An $8,000, low-owned alternative whose ground balls and strikeout matchup make him preferable to Kirby and Foster Griffin. | 12:27 | |
| SP | A deep salary punt against the Cubs with the wind blowing in at Wrigley. | 13:46 | |
| SP | A $5,300 salary punt expected to draw substantial ownership because he opens salary for Diamondbacks bats. | 14:04 |
All Systems go. Clear your liftoff.. What's going on, everybody? Happy Wednesday. Talking some baseball with my man Maids. We are looking at ten games on DraftKings, twelve on FanDuel. FanDuel is starting at seven, or excuse me, six-forty Eastern today. They are including the Milwaukee-Philly game and the St. Louis game. And Pittsburgh game, don't think there's really too much DFS appetite in that one. So that's just my, I would kind of ignore those two. It's a low total.
If you wanted to play anything from it, I'd probably look at pitchers, maybe Aaron Nola, but I do think there's some other arms on the mound. So two pretty insignificant games on fandom, but do remember to get your lineups in at six forty Eastern. We'll be talking drafting slate like usual with my man, Big Nades. How are we doing today, Nades? Doing good, man. Had a couple close calls last night in the MLB streets. Had a shot.
It was top ten in the eight dollar one fifty max with limited builds there. Didn't get quite get all the way home, but that's just the way it happens. Right. Put yourself in position. Hopefully one day it comes through. But yeah, looking forward to breaking this down. Winding out, right? End of the season, regular season here. A lot of teams are dead. A lot of teams are either clinched or kind of can't really improve their standings.
And some teams have some stuff to play for. We got some high end pitching on the slate. Pitch count is going to be concerned across the board. For a lot of guys right so um but again everyone's playing with the with the same kind of deck of cards You saw the spanned up arms get it done yesterday. Seeing more of the same here tonight, kind of how I'm approaching it.
And really, at the end of the day, nobody knows what the managers are going to do with these arms. It's all just educated guesses. So everyone's kind of operating off the same thing. So if I play one of these guys and they get pulled after AD pitches, I mean, it is what it is, right? I can't really predict that. I'm just going to play some of the best plays that we'll talk through, and that's kind of how I'm approaching this slate.
I'm not going to try and look too far into it outside of that because it's just a guess at the end of the day. Yeah, if you're still playing DFS in late September, MLB, like anyone that's watching I assume is, you guys understand there is more volatility than there is in the heart of the season. Not all teams are playing for stuff. Yada, yada, yada. Weather's cooling down a little bit. Looking at Wrigley again, winds are blowing in. Man, what a crazy game that was, though.
Under completely smashing until the twelfth when the Marlins just absolutely poured it on the Cubbies. Looking to rebound from last night. Again, this is the last week for MLB shows over here at Chippin Nations. My last one of the year. Not that I did too many this year. We'll definitely be doing some more than I did next year. But yeah, MLB has been a lot of fun. We'll still have you covered for the MLB playoffs. It'll all be written content, though.
So MLB Slate Station, the core reports. The Stone, Stone, two point out projections OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗. Of course, playoff baseball is always a lot of fun, but a lot of sports going on right now. Six to be exact. NFL, college football, PGA, MLB, MMA and NASCAR. Soon NHL will be here. Soon NBA will be here. Again, you can see the NFL only deal, but you guys are watching a baseball show. So I assume you want more than just NFL content. Bottom left. Join the nation.
You can get in as low as nineteen dollars. That'll get you five days worth of content. Again, all of the sports SaberSim and Discord. If you want to be with us for a month or longer, that is the best deal. Again, I think starter is a great way to to get going because you get four hundred more lineups than core one hundred. But the big thing is you also get Sabre Sims projections and ownership.
An ability to average it out, and contest flashbacks to see what the pros are doing. So I think that's probably the best for you. Also, you can do get DFS Mastermind for free. But we have content-only packages. We have single sport. Anything you need, join the nation. Bottom left, you will be able to see what we have to offer. You can also always email info at chipanation.com if you have any questions about upgrading or whatever.
We always are looking at the email and getting back to you pretty quickly. What's up, Avery? What's up, Juice? What's up, RJX? Had the White Sox looking good with Ritchie and then Gilbert. Oh, man, that's brutal. That's brutal. Hey, is that you, RJX, or is that someone else playing the guitar? Because that would be pretty sick if that is you. But, yeah, White Sox absolutely did smash. What's up, NY?
Great to see you as well I say we have no time to waste we have ten games to talk about on the slate going back over to our partner optimizer over at SaberSim let me hit the refresh button real real quick boom so just sorting by ownership the two highest owned on the slate Chris Sale Kevin Grossman, I already talked about Grossman with the wind blowing in. Cubs want to win. Marlins aren't good. Implied for three point three runs. I think he's strong.
And yeah, Chris Sale projection three above the next highest in Yamamoto. Chris Sale is just the freaking man. You can play him every single time he takes the mound. Pretty big favorites at home against a pretty bad Reds team. We are going to sort. There are some other options, obviously, ten games. So there is a plethora of pitchers. See if we can make any pivots. I'm going to say Walbert, Urena, $8,000 all the way up to Chris Sale. Eleven K big nays.
What are you looking at? Yeah, so I'll start with Chris Sale. It is Chris Sale as SP one for me. I do prefer him to Yamamoto just because the Braves are in kind of a must win situation here. They obviously want to win Dodgers too as well. But I mean, their Dodgers are gunning for their other team kind of gunning for that second by or that second first round by in the NL.
Obviously, the Brewers got the job done yesterday with the loss there from the Braves to the Reds there. So obviously, That secured one spot. Dodgers are kind of the favorite, right, to get that second one there.
But they do want to win, but I think they look at the postseason a lot more, and Yamamoto, especially with the injury concerns with Otani and that rotation there, and there are other guys that – I'm a little bit more concerned about Yamamoto's pitch count compared to Chris Sale and the low strikeout matchup with the Padres compared to the Reds who just strike out against anyone on the mound. So that's why I do edge Chris Sale over Yamamoto.
I think the OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗ is going to go that way as well, but I'm not really – too concerned I think yamamoto is still going to pull enough because the Dodgers still are technically in in kind of a must win territory here coming out the stretch um how much do they value that we don't know but that's just what you can kind of play on so I do have Chris Sale number one gevin gosman is number two for me um just wind at Wrigley one of the most wind dated stadiums in all of baseball Marlins are stone dead in the water uh obviously they got some some uh young kids in there that are still obviously trying.
And at the end of the day, these guys are all trying. It's not like there's mailing it in, um, overall, but there could be a little less motivation in general. And Grossman does struggle with some fly balls in that, but with the wind blown in, um, the stadium is going to play very more, very much. So hitter friendly. So, um, I don't care that he's going to be ChalkChalk is the most popular, highly owned play on a slate. The term comes from sports betting, where the favorite is called the chalk.Don't label chalk good or bad. Ask whether each popular play deserves its ownership, then decide which chalk you'll eat and which you'll fade.Full explanation ↗ there.
I would rather play Gaussman and Chris Sale into ownership than play the D-backs is kind of how I'm seeing it there. So obviously the D-backs are expensive. We're going to talk about hitting there. I am prioritizing the chalk pitchers over the chalk hitting if I do have to sacrifice one or the other there. So those are my top two arms on the slate. Garrett Cole, I think, is fine.
A little bit worried there as the Yankees pretty much are kind of locked into their position. They don't really have anywhere to go there. So I don't love it at $9,000 with the unknowns there. I'd rather just take a shot on some of these other guys. I think Yamamoto, I think, is still playable. I'm just going to have him. Significantly behind sale.
And if I have to sacrifice sale exposure to get some Yamamoto, I'm not sure that I'm going to do that in this matchup. I'd rather just get more Chris Sale and get more LeverageLeverage is the edge you gain by rostering a play the field is underweight on, compared with how often it ends up in winning lineups. When that play outscores the popular option most lineups chose instead, you gain ground on those lineups, though the rest of your roster still decides where you finish.Look for leverage on players connected to the chalk, like the other side of a popular game or a teammate who can steal the popular player's touches.Full explanation ↗ on the field that way. So it's kind of how I see it. Those two guys are my main guys up top.
You could play some of these other guys, but I'm going to try and trim my pitching pool as much as I can and spread more out on the bats in some of these different spots. Obviously we've got Coors Field, which is really where all the ownership is going to condense. So there is some other teams on this slate that I think can match and can be in potential. So I just want to filter those different stacks around kind of the pitching pool.
So Those two guys are the main guys I'm looking at up top. I think Walbert Urena is a little interesting at $8,000 he's going to be unowned. He's typically a ground ball guy. I know he's pitching in Suter health there, but it is still a good strikeout matchup. He does have upside. Nobody's going to play him in his $8,000 on a slate where there's a bunch of pitching unknowns all over the place.
Even, I mean, sale and young motor aren't safe by any means. Um, and they're the most expensive guys in the slate. So thank you. Raina would be my third favorite guy up here. Um, but ideally it's the two other guys so far ahead of the rest. Um, And if you wanted to play three, it'd be Sale, Yamamoto, and Gorman. I wouldn't fault anyone for playing those three, but Urena would be the fourth guy that would slip in for me a little bit.
Yeah, I don't have any hot takes. I'm pretty in line with you. Like, I think Chris Sale is very clear SP one, hard to get away from. I agree with Gorman being SP two. Playing them both together, it is a ten-game slate. There's enough ways to get different when it comes to bats. So, like, you just don't play the D-backs with it. It's probably the only one that's getting just a ton, a ton of ownership that you'd have to avoid. But I do think there's some pivots.
Yamamoto is a pivot I am looking at. I mean, he's so good. His game log has been phenomenal this year. I'm not worried about the pitch count. A little discount from sale, you get an ownership discount. And I wouldn't be surprised if this thirty one percent for sale was more like thirty seven percent and Yamamoto maybe eighteen, sixteen. So you could see a little steam on sale, a little moonwalking back on Yamamoto. That's pretty appealing there. Sonny Gray is tough for me today.
So he'd probably be an X. Nolan McLean, I am interested in him a little bit. Pitch count's good. It's mainly just looking at our pitcher rankings over here on the Slate Station, though. He grades out really well in the pitcher rankings. And I am seeing ten percent right in between Grossman and Sale. And I also do think Yamamoto and Cole are higher on like we're seeing right here. So I think McLean is a very interesting pivot in Chalky.
Right in the middle of a lot of chalk around him. I already mentioned Cole. I'm good with Garrett Cole as well. I'm expecting another pitching duel like we saw yesterday. I know Fried got hit up a little bit, and I think it was like the fifth or the sixth. But, man, it was one-nothing for a long time. I think we're going to see another pitching duel there, $9,000 for Garrett Cole at fourteen percent.
Is uh is pretty appealing for me I don't when we're gonna get down to the cheapies like I have a handful of guys that I'm fine with and that's mainly when I want to play D-backs or spend up for stuff but I do think spend up pitching is probably the way to go today George Kirby I don't know I'm indifferent especially after what the Astros just did to Logan Gilbert yesterday what did you say about uh Gilbert or Foster Griffin did I miss it Yeah, so I don't like Kirby.
I think Gilbert a much better pitcher. I'm not using yesterday's results oriented, but I've just never been a Kirby guy. So I don't like him. I like Urena better than those guys in that range. I'm super concerned about Foster Griffin pitch count concern. He hasn't gone more than four innings in each of his last two starts there.
So, I mean, there is really good – Pitching weather in that that that in Fenway today so you could play I mean it's got the best day the biggest suppression for runs from some like ballpark pal and some other weather spots across the industry temperatures in the mid fifties with double digit wind the entire duration of the game blowing in. I'm just concerned on how long this guy goes. He is obviously super important to this team in the long run. I don't know.
Obviously, Cleveland's still trying to fight in there. So maybe you see him extended there. But, I mean, he'd probably be – I prefer him to Kirby, but I like Urena better than both of them. So I'd just rather play Urena, to be honest. All right. Yeah, I won't argue with that one bit. I'll tail you on that and go Urena. Not much interest in Kirby or Foster Griffin for me. Going down and looking at these cheapies, any we can get to?
I mean, man, I'm not really sure why Seth Lugo would be projected – For XIII, that's a little hot in my opinion. I think if I want to just go and play any pitchers, that I'm just going to go all the way to some of these stone punts down below. Gusto against the Cubs with the wind blowing in. Jeffrey Springs against the Angeles, $5,500. I don't know, this Pecko and... Mason Englert guy. I mean, these projections, I mean, that seems pretty high.
Obviously, it's going to be a start or an opener, and then it's going to be Englert, it looks like. I mean, yeah, if he's really projected at fifteen or fifteen points, I got him definitely a little less than that. I'm definitely not sure or I don't believe his OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗ is really going to be that high as well. Let me just look real quick to make sure. Where I got him at? I got him at like thirteen and a half, thirteen. Not terrible.
So I guess, yeah, I guess I'll include him. I'm expecting a pitcher's duel. I mean, this offense for the Yankees without judges is a mess. So I think if I want to punt pitcher, just give me Ryan Gusto and all the way down. I'll kind of just ignore this $6,000 range and $7,000 range and just spend all the way up or all the way down.
And then when you do go all the way down, that does allow you to get D backs Dodgers if you wanted some big bats that way. Any cheapies that you can make a case for? Yeah, so my two favorite would be Englert and Jeffrey Springs. Ian Seymour, I believe, was supposed to go, but with the Rays winning yesterday and kind of sealing that, I believe that they kind of sat Seymour down here, right?
Which he always had a pitch count concern anyways, typically. Rays are going to need him through the postseason run here. So Englert, he's got a four and a half K prop, juice the over. Jeffrey Springs, four and a half K prop, juice the over. I mean, Jeffrey Springs, Englert, these are both guys that you can play both sides, right?
I think the Yankees have some solid LeverageLeverage is the edge you gain by rostering a play the field is underweight on, compared with how often it ends up in winning lineups. When that play outscores the popular option most lineups chose instead, you gain ground on those lineups, though the rest of your roster still decides where you finish.Look for leverage on players connected to the chalk, like the other side of a popular game or a teammate who can steal the popular player's touches.Full explanation ↗ against this guy because I do expect him, I mean, at his projection, At $5,300, he's going to be projected anywhere between from like twelve to fifteen, somewhere in that range, depending on what industry site that you use. Obviously, projections are going to change with the news and things like that leading up to lock here. And props are heavily a lot of people look at props.
He's four and a half K prop $5,300 on a slate with the D-backs with over six implied run total in Coors Field. So he's going to get pumped into the optimizer when I ran dry run projections as it is now. Obviously with his average of like roughly a fifteen projection, he hits sixty percent of teams with fifty two percent Chris Sale. And then Kevin Grossman is the third guy. So it's really those three.
I kind of expect that leading up to lock. So I do prefer Jeffrey Springs a little bit to him. But both of those guys, I mean, $5,500 $5,300, even though they go out there and get you eight points. That's probably enough on the slate because pitching is just not really solidified this late in the season with a lot of unknowns across the board. So, yeah, I do agree. I'm skipping that entire kind of mid-range.
Ray, Fetty, Lugo, Kelly, all of those guys. And it's just Springs, Englert for me and then maybe a little Pecko. But I like the other two guys better. But I will say Pecko and Springs are going to be definitely lower on that than what Maton Englert is going to be. Everyone just saw what Rasmussen did to this team. Yankees are kind of just chilling until the postseason. They can't really improve or get worse in terms of where they're locked in.
So I do expect Englert to kind of pick up a decent amount of steam leading up to lock here when people want to play the D-back. So I probably prefer to play him or these other cheap – if I'm playing Englert, I prefer not to play the Rockies and prefer to spend up with a different stack, maybe the Dodgers or something like that.
Or if I'm playing the D-backs, I'd rather prefer going like a Jeffrey Springs or a Pecko and just mitigate some of that ownership a little bit there just from a common roster construction because projections are going to slam him in there with the D-backs. Yep, that makes a lot of sense for sure. You got to be ownership weary when it comes to, I mean, all DFS, especially MLB with so much volatility, though. And it's going to be another day where the D-backs are very ChalkChalk is the most popular, highly owned play on a slate. The term comes from sports betting, where the favorite is called the chalk.Don't label chalk good or bad. Ask whether each popular play deserves its ownership, then decide which chalk you'll eat and which you'll fade.Full explanation ↗ at bats.
Avery said, yeah, he's also on the same page. Man, you got to change that picture, though. But also on the same page with Pecko. So Bill's Mafia said he needs help with first base on FanDuel. So this is exactly what I would do. It's the last week. So we're going to show off a little bit of our premium product over here at Chippin Nation. So this is the Slate Station, MLB Slate Station. Again, we have it for all sports.
You can see up above DK Early, Main, FanDuel, all of that. Then you can see the pitcher rankings. Stack rankings, hitter rankings, value bats, weather to watch, a slate breakdown. I mean, just all the goodness. Yeah, bullpen. Look at that. Great stuff right there. You can see the bullpen and who to target. But what I will go to is when we're talking – First base, you asked about first base.
So what I would do personally is go to FanDuel main above and then go down to FanDuel hitter rankings and then go first base. And now it's sorted top to bottom. You see Otani, Vargas, Freeman, Olson. So I would say right here, okay, if I need a cheapie, Vinny P at two seven. If salary doesn't matter, Otani or Vargas or Freeman pretty cheap as well.
So this is exactly what I would do when I'm looking – for an individual position on a certain site. And then you can see, yeah, the tags next to it, hot bat, home run Rainer, part of a stack. I mean, just awesome stuff we got over here at the Slate Station. Oh, snap, I've gone blind to it. That's funny. And then any favorite pitcher on the FanDuel slate? Well, I'll just do the same thing quick, and then I'll talk about my thoughts.
But FanDuel pitcher rankings? Going to the starters, boom, Chris Sale, McLean, Yamamoto, and Grossman. What I will say is – let me just – I'll just go over here this quick. Gossman is a way – like the difference in price from Sale to Grossman on the one-pitcher site and ability to spend up for D-backs and other bats, I think Grossman will be the clear chalk. On FanDuel. Again, Chris Sale's, eleven K, Gossman's eight point $3,000.
So Gossman's going to be mega chalk over there. Some pivots I think you can make. I do think Yamamoto Sale if you want to go all the way up. But I think Aaron Nola, like I didn't even say Logan Henderson. He is pretty expensive at nine eight as well. But the Phillips Brewers, Nola Henderson, I wouldn't mind going to either of them as a pivot. At pitcher, man, after that, it is pretty tough for me.
I do think eating chalk at Grossman is probably something I would be looking to do in many of teams. He's just way, way too cheap. Going to be trying to win, wind blowing in. So that's how I'm looking there. Big Nate said sales. His FanDuel SP won, though. So he likes finding the cheap bats around that. All right. There's just so many underpriced hitters, I think, on FanDuel in general, just across the board.
I mean, Vinny P is red hot right now and he's $2,700 on that site where you can play to first baseman. Right. So I just think I'd rather just give me the upside with a Chris Sale who could go out there and throw twelve strikeouts and seven innings. Right. Get that quality start and have the sheer upside. Right. In a vacuum I don't think has the same upside as what Chris Sale does.
To be honest, I know projections and things are going to disagree there, but especially on that site where salary is much less restrictive, I'd much rather just spend the money at Chris Sale. And especially when you're getting an OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗ discount. I mean, it's flipped on DraftKings for a reason. Obviously, you've got to play two pitchers, so that's part of it. But that's kind of my reasoning there.
I'd just rather get all the way up to Chris Sale and just let other people play the cheap Gorman because you know what those teams are going to be. They're going to be all the spend-up D-backs. So just play Chris Sale and play the White Sox or something like that is kind of how I'd approach it. All right. I like it. Going to the first game of the night on DraftKings. Again, there is the Brewers and the Phillips, the Cardinals and the Pirates.
But yeah, run totals are very low or pretty low, especially relative to the slate on both the games. Nola Henderson, really the only interest. For me, Red Sox, Guardians, Foster Griffin, and Sonny Gray on the mound. I mean, man, talking about low run totals, that is the definition of this game. Hitter rankings bad on both sides. I could not imagine five-man stacking either side. So easy move on for me. Do you see it any different? Yeah, no bats for me. I'm not playing.
Fifty degree temps in Wrigley with. Fifteen mile an hour winds blown in now. We're not really funny. Fenway Fenway sorry yeah yeah Fenway still same thing. Weather is terrible. There's enough spots in the slate. I know you're going to get both these teams on owned for a good reason. In my opinion, sure could individual hitters here there get there. In large field stuff, if they filter in there a little bit, I don't think it's the worst play. You want righties against Foster Griffin.
If you're going there, the issue is the best hitters from the Red Sox are hit from the left side. And then Cleveland, I mean, Sonny Gray's been good enough that, I mean, he just doesn't really get beat up. So this is an easy cross-off game for me from hitting. Okay, next game on the slate, the Rays and the Yankees. Mason Englert, Garrett Cole on the mound. I mean, copy and paste. Look at that, three-six run total, three-six, three-one, three-run. Already thought it was a pitcher's duel.
I do want to go back on what I said, though. I thought they were going to have an opener for Englert since he usually is a multi-inning bulk reliever kind of guy, but it does look like he is getting the start today. So they're not going to have an opener before him. It doesn't really change too much, but just wanted to correct myself. Again, copy and paste what I said from the last game. Ten games late, make it an eight-game slate.
When we're talking bats is what I'm going to do. What about you?
Yeah I mean I could I mean Lombard hitting second at $2,900 I think he's interesting because you're also I mean I do expect as we lead up to lock uh I don't expect Englert's projection to drop much below like thirteen points so he's gonna hit a ton of teams at that price especially when people have unknowns with the pitcher so you're probably looking at the second or third high stone pitcher on the slate behind gosman and sale and it might even be close between Gaussman and Englert on DraftKings when people are wanting to spend up for D-backs.
So I do think with the LeverageLeverage is the edge you gain by rostering a play the field is underweight on, compared with how often it ends up in winning lineups. When that play outscores the popular option most lineups chose instead, you gain ground on those lineups, though the rest of your roster still decides where you finish.Look for leverage on players connected to the chalk, like the other side of a popular game or a teammate who can steal the popular player's touches.Full explanation ↗ you built in with the Yankees, I just want to look at this lineup. I mean, it is a shell of their original lineup, so it's probably not a full five-man stack, but Ben Rice still in there, Garcia, Lombard, Spence Jones, Jazz is in there too. So, I mean, you still do have some of their studs in there. They're not going to pinch hit everyone this whole game.
I know the weather's not the best, but – as some leverage low on Yankees I don't hate it um not my top plays on the border but uh from a leverage perspective and a leverage score with upside um Yankees still do have guys that can pull it down the line in that short porch and hit it out against anyone in any weather really so That'd be my preferred option if going here and not messing with any of the Rays. But yeah, not a primary stack or anything.
I will be over the field on the Yankees, especially those stud bats from them because nobody's going to play them and it's not going to take much and they have a ton of upsides. Man, I think these Yankees are fully cooked when it gets to the postseason, too. I am definitely against these guys. Probably will be betting against them when we get there. I mean, yeah, that's definitely a shell of their lineup.
If you're looking at their opening day lineup and look at this one, you would think they're probably eliminated from the playoffs. So not a game I'm going to. All right, let's finally get into a game that's going to get a little OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗ only on one side, and that is the Atlanta Braves taking on the Cincinnati Reds. Andrew Abbott, Chris Sale, pretty easy to cross off the Reds in my opinion.
I think just fading Sale is a better idea than five-manning the Reds, hoping they just make him work. Maybe he gets pulled a little early. A couple walks, you get two runs or whatever and just not as many Ks. I don't see the Reds just breaking the slate in a vacuum. Going to the Braves, though, against Abbott. So Abbott a southpaw. You do prefer righties against him to lefties, but, I mean, he still allows fly balls to lefties as well. His K percentage is a good bit higher.
Walks come down a little bit. So you do prefer righties for sure, but it's not like he's untouchable.
Against lefties if you do want to include Drake Baldwin matt olsen michael Harris the only three lefties they have in this order I think that is something uh worth doing to get a little difference but yeah I mean you want righties seven of the nine or six of the nine batters are from hitting from the right side of the plate and then you have like a min price $2,000 punt at shortstop you Sean Murphy at catcher if you don't want to go Baldwin for $2,700 It's a pretty easy team to stack up with a, with double spend pitcher.
If that's something you want to do, Yamamoto, Chris Sale, five Braves. That is a relatively ContrarianA contrarian play or lineup is one built around choices most of the field will not make, such as low-owned players, unpopular teams or an unusual salary structure.Pick one or two contrarian spots per lineup and ground each in a real reason. The rest of the roster can look like the field.Full explanation ↗. Again, the Yamamoto sale. I'm not sure how much that pairing will be because you're fading Grossman. And then if you add in Murphy or some of these cheap ads down below, it'll be lower on than I think than people probably expected right away. So yeah, Braves have a good run total. I think I can get different enough playing them.
And yeah, To be honest, when we go through this stuff, I already said no to these first couple. I like a couple spots, but nothing's screaming. I love this team. I do like the Braves quite a bit, and I think you can pair some chalk around it. I would go to the bottom of the order, though, when playing the Braves, though, because it allows you to get out pretty cheap.
What do you think of – I know you're not playing the Reds, so what do you think of the Braves? Yeah, no Reds for me. I mean, the Braves are fine. I just – I mean, they're bottom five in OPS in baseball against left-handed pitching over the last month. And that's a pretty sizable, I mean, pretty sizable sample. I mean, you're looking at two hundred and ten plate appearances against left-handed pitching in the last thirty days.
They have a sub one hundred ISO K rate of twenty four percent and a wobble of like two thirty blood right across the board. I know Abbott not good. I know the bullpen is terrible as well. What? I am a little worried because I think if people are fading the D backs, the first spot they're going is the Braves. We saw it last night. I think it's rinse and repeat, especially this late this late in the year. Right.
There's a lot of people that get lazy and kind of just rely on projections and stuff like that and implied run totals. And they see the Braves second highest are right up there next to Coors Field. Right. So I'm a little worried. I think they're playable for sure. Sean Murphy would be my favorite bat just at a onesie position. Historically hits lefties pretty well. Both him and Baldwin are starting. So I think he's pin chip concern free there.
I don't think you really have to worry about it too much there. And then some of these other cheap guys, I think if you need to fill in the guys that aren't really going to get played, the Hassan Kim's of the world, the Hicklen of the world, they're going to get played probably in brave stacks. But as like, Outside of that, I don't know. So the back half, like a seven, eight, nine little Braves mini stack, something like that.
You fill up a onesie shortstop, a onesie catcher position, then you got an outfield position and it's $2,000 $3,000 $2,700. I don't think that's the craziest play in the world. Also, Riley's cheap, too. So I actually prefer like six through nine more than the top. Dubon would be my favorite guy up top, but.
So I'm going to kind of be under the field on the Braves from what projection OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. But Braves on paper do check out pretty solid. Alright, let's go on to the next game. Kansas City Royals and the Chicago White Sox. Definitely the game you wanted yesterday.
I mean, Vidipi's Grand Slam in the ninth two got some of those Royals home, but White Sox absolutely smashed. Solid run total again in this one. We got Seth Lugo on the mound for the Royals. Eric Fetty as the long reliever for the White Sox. I mean, both these guys you can attack. Again, the Royals will be Excuse me, the White Sox will be using an opener and Brian Hudson a lefty, and then they're going to go Eric Fetty.
I mean, man, Eric Fetty is someone that we've attacked for a long time. Just looking at his stuff, I don't know what he does well. He walks guys. He can't strike anyone out. Balls are always in play. They're in the air. I think the Royals are very – Good stack, especially when I'm looking at this OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗. And, I mean, I'm fine playing these guys one through nine. I think Fedde is that bad, and the pitcher rankings do show that.
And then talking about the White Sox against Lugo, he's definitely bad too. You prefer lefties against some two righties. But, I mean, you can definitely still play righties against Seth Lugo. But look at this. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven of their nine hitters batting from the left side against Lugo. Guaranteed ninth inning at-bats. Game just nuked yesterday. Only one guy. Price above $5,000 in Vargas for the White Sox.
I think this is one of my favorite games on the slate when talking Game StackIn baseball, a game stack means rostering hitters from both offenses in one game, typically in a hitter-friendly park or against two weak starting pitchers.Target games where the spread is close as well as the total high. A high total with a lopsided spread can turn into a blowout where only one side keeps scoring.Full explanation ↗. A little ownership on the White Sox. Not really showing any on the Royals, but it's ten games. We had multiple pitchers that we could play to get difference. So I'm going right back to this game. Am I a fish or no? No, this is my favorite game in the slate, even amongst Coors Field.
Sutter Health has some appeal too, but I think both pitchers are in play there as well. I think neither of these pitchers are good. Lugo's been absolutely atrocious. He started out decent and okay in the beginning part of the year, but typically what happens when you see these older guys go through another whole season on that arm, they start losing at the back half. Exactly what happened has started to happen to Seth Lugo here. Lefties have murdered this guy.
White Sox have scored double digit runs in four of their last five or eight plus something like that. I mean, this team against right handed pitching has been a cheat code for me all year. They've had a couple of duds in there, but I mean, ownership's not going there because we have Coors Field and I'll take the chances there. Both these bullpens are terrible. The hitting weather here isn't the worst. In Kansas City.
The ballpark does play more hitter-friendly this year than years past, so I'm all full steam ahead. This is my top game on the slate at ownership. I mean, I love both sides of it. Lefties on the White Sox, I mean, they have their best guys in there, and then their two righties are Meidroth, who is red hot. I mean, this dude scored double-digit drafting points like every single game it feels like over the last week.
And then Vargas is one of the best hitters in baseball all season. So I absolutely love the White Sox. They're probably my top overall stack at ownership on the slate. And then Royals are right there behind. Not much more to say. Vinny P looks great. Carter Jensen looks great. John Rave even has a ton of power in low strikeouts. I think he's a really interesting play. Michael Massey at second base. I like him a lot. Cagliano. So I like the wraparound here.
Um the the five five through nine and then either Jensen or uh Cauley and own up top obviously can always play Bobby Witt too but um I love this spot overall man White Sox one game back from the from the Guardians I'm pulling for them that'd be pretty cool to see the White Sox in the playoff so yeah I'm rooting for them for sure definitely a big game for them today What did Caleb Williams say? I need to see that, Jake.
Because the first thing I think of with Caleb Williams, like everyone, is what he just pulled with his hammy. And then the first thing I think of Dave Portnoy is him trying to run a four-yard dash or something. So both those guys have some comedy behind them. So I'm curious to hear what you got to say there. And, man, the memes and stuff of Caleb Williams – On Twitter. The x-ray. I about fucking spit my drink out when I saw the x-ray on my for you.
X-ray was hilarious. I saw one about like when your wife gives birth and you slept on the hospital, on comfy hospital beds and cheering and all that. Like you were the hero. I'm just crazy, crazy stuff out there that. Yeah, that x-ray one's always so good, though. All right. Again, appreciate everyone hanging out. Always ask like button and subscribe button. Helps us out a ton. A lot of people still playing MLB DFS. You love to see it. Yeah, not really much going on today.
But besides that, PGA will be locking tomorrow. Of course, NFL tomorrow. Our Packers. Taking on the Falcons. If you can't win that game, it's going to be a long, long season for them. Of course, college football going on. NASCAR and MMA. We'd love to have you at the nation. Multiple different options to get in. Five days for nineteen dollars is the cheapest. And you do get access to all sports, SaberSim and the Discord. Next game on the slate, Wrigley Field. Again, wind is blowing in.
Kevin Grossman, Ryan Gusto on the mound. I'm definitely all or not all in, but I think Gossman's a phenomenal play against these Marlins. I mean, last night, Imanaga did great. You wouldn't know it by the final box score. They just couldn't get anyone out in the twelfth inning. Don't see that happening again. And then as far as the Cubs against Gusto, I mean, Gusto's not good. There's no doubt about that. You definitely prefer lefties to righties against Gusto, even though righties are fine.
With that being said, though, it's like, all right, PCA lefty. Dude's a million dollars. Michael Bush, Conforto.
Ian hap I think that's probably where I'd want to focus three four or five and I think that it is fine as a mini stack I don't love how it takes up two catcher or two outfield positions but I do think it's fine right there so I don't love the Cubs as a five-man stack but I think three four or five uh is pretty interesting to fill a onesie like to fill out mini stacks or fill out one off something like that any interest for you in this game Yeah, I mean, I think you can include the Cubs in like a hundred and fifty.
I think it's probably even a little thin for me personally in like Twenty-MaxA twenty-max contest lets each user enter up to 20 lineups. It sits between small-field formats like three-max and the largest 150-entry tournaments.Plan all 20 lineups before building any of them. Decide your stacks and exposure limits first, so the set works as a portfolio rather than 20 separate guesses.Full explanation ↗. I like to condense a little bit more than that. And I like other teams more. I love that last game we talked about. I think there's some other teams that we're going to talk about as well that that I have some interest in. It's just I mean, this.
There's almost, it's like seven to ten mile an hour winds blown in, plus whatever the gust is, and it's sixty degrees in Wrigley, so, I mean, we've obviously seen the Cubs do it in thirty degrees with snow falling in the beginning part of the year, and they could obviously do it, but, I mean, the guys you want to play are kind of expensive, so I agree with you, Conforto, I mean, $3,400 hitting cleanup in this lineup, I think he's fine, he's going to be LeverageLeverage is the edge you gain by rostering a play the field is underweight on, compared with how often it ends up in winning lineups. When that play outscores the popular option most lineups chose instead, you gain ground on those lineups, though the rest of your roster still decides where you finish.Look for leverage on players connected to the chalk, like the other side of a popular game or a teammate who can steal the popular player's touches.Full explanation ↗ as well, so, That guy's fine, Hap.
So I do agree. Pedro Ramirez, too, has been pretty solid over the back half since he's come up. Second base is a pretty weak position overall. So it would just be like more position eligibility guys that make it work or the cheap guys. So it'd be probably Conforto. Ramirez is my two favorite. And then Hap would be third with you there. All right. Let's keep it rolling. Nice game on the slate. New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Cody Bradford, Nolan McLean on the mound.
I like Nolan a little bit in terms of pitching as a way to get different ContrarianA contrarian play or lineup is one built around choices most of the field will not make, such as low-owned players, unpopular teams or an unusual salary structure.Pick one or two contrarian spots per lineup and ground each in a real reason. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗ where I really want to stack the Rangers as like LeverageLeverage is the edge you gain by rostering a play the field is underweight on, compared with how often it ends up in winning lineups. When that play outscores the popular option most lineups chose instead, you gain ground on those lineups, though the rest of your roster still decides where you finish.Look for leverage on players connected to the chalk, like the other side of a popular game or a teammate who can steal the popular player's touches.Full explanation ↗ per se. But the hitter rankings do like the top of the order of it. I will say anytime Corey Seager is three point $6,000, you can play him any day of the week. Yeah. Don't love the Rangers as much as I did yesterday.
As far as the Mets, I do prefer Mets to the Rangers if choosing to stack. The Southpaw and Bradford, you do prefer righties against them, but the splits are relatively similar. He's still not very good against lefties either. Playing this Mets team is very hard for me to do, but I do think one through... I guess Alvarez is fine at catcher. I think one through seven is fine. I mean, outside of Juan Soto, these guys are basically free. Ownership, they're not showing any bit.
Guaranteed ninth inning at bats. Again, Bradford not good. And this is what I was talking about with McLean in the pitcher rankings, number two right there. Bradford, one of the lowest on the slate. Yeah, I guess compared to the field and looking at ownership, I think the Mets are a little bit appealing for me, which I hate to say. What about you? Man, feels good to be lockstep with title. I do like the Mets. They check out pretty good. They're unowned.
Cody Bradford just been absolutely atrocious. I mean, eight percent strikeout rate over the last month, twelve percent on the season, six percent strikeout rate against lefties, obviously lefty lefty there. But I mean, it's at fifteen percent to right side, gets tons of fly balls, tons of power given up, gets barreled up from both sides. I know this ballpark sucks, but at least it's indoors.
And this is actually one of the better hitting environments on the slate, which is crazy to say Globe Life, which you never would have thought. It's obviously one of the best pitchers parks in baseball. But on this slate with this kind of weather across the board outside of like one or two spots, I mean, the Mets make sense. Alvarez has been really good lately. He's a catcher. Viento, Spichetta are both super reasonable for their potential upside there if they don't strike out.
And then you got the guys up at the top, the young kids in Soto. So we'll see what this lineup looks like and see if the Mets roll out their guys. We got it. Ready? Yeah, yeah, go ahead. Lindor, Soto, Bichette, Vientos, and Benj, Carlson Benj, Benji, whatever it is, flop. So they're both in the lineup. Semien, Alvarez, Ewing, Morabito. Same lineup except switch cleanup and five hitter.
Yeah, so, I mean, the Mets have their – at this point of the season, their full-strength lineup out there against a guy who has been atrocious all year. I think the Mets are super interesting here in tournaments. Locked in for nine. Rangers' bullpen is solid, but, again, I think this is a pretty interesting spot in tournaments, especially when you're going chalkier lineup builds because you've got cheap guys that can allow you to double spend up at pitcher, which I like.
I mean, even Lindor – Lindor, I needed him last night to kind of get all the way home. So naturally he'll back it up with probably seventeen DraftKings points tonight instead of his five from yesterday. So I think Lindor super interesting. And then the back half is all free. So I like what it allows you to do with from the pitcher perspective, instead of punting that second pitcher spot like most people are going to do.
I think you can five stack these mats, double spend a pitcher and still get some of the D-backs if you wanted to. I like it. I like it. I'm trying to look at my phone because three minutes ago we did get this lineup for the D-backs. In the next game, we're going to talk about... Let me refresh. I doubt it's confirmed yet. That'd be pretty crazy. The chalkiest game on the slate. It's not even close.
Merrill Kelly on the mound for the D-backs. Mason Adams on the mound for the Rockies. Let me look at something real quick. Yeah. All right. So the lineup for the D-backs is Nootbaar, Marte, Moreno, Perdomo, Pavin Smith. So he had him projected in the eight hole. He moves up to the five hole. Arenado, Corbin Carroll hitting seventh, Jesus Sanchez hitting eighth, Tim Tawa hitting ninth. So no Lawlar in this lineup. Pavin Smith moved up. No Arenado. Oh, yeah, Arenado in this lineup.
Who else? Reno Perdomo, Pavin Smith, Arenado, Tywa. Who's Jesus? Oh, yeah, I guess it's just Jesus Sanchez in for Lawlar, but the order is mixed up a little bit. Again, the main one, Pavin Smith projected to be in the eight hole, in the five hole, and then Corbin Carroll in the seventh spot. Yeah, take it away. Obviously the chalkiest game on the slate. Hitter rankings look great. I'm definitely curious to hear your take on the Rockies.
That OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Yeah, I'm going to the Rockies side of this game over the D-backs. I mean, Lars Neupahr might be fifty percent owned on a ten game slate in baseball in September. I mean, I understand. I get it. I get the spot. I get it. It's just I mean. I don't know. I just don't like playing this kind of chalk.
I mean, this is like insane compared to the rest of the slate. I mean, you're talking the top of those lineups, Nupar, Marte, Moreno, Perdomo. Those guys are all going to be between thirty and probably fifty percent in GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool)A GPP is a tournament whose prize pool is guaranteed to pay out in full even if the contest does not fill. Highest likelihood to score the most amount of runs, but that might not even be enough, right?
Like obviously the White Sox five-man stack is what did it yesterday, and you only needed a couple pieces here and there from the D-backs. I could see a very similar case, not to say the White Sox are going to be the team you need, but any of these other – that could be enough separation. So I've actually kind of done some lineup studies and things like that.
And some of the best players in the world have played spots like this more into like a mini stack than the full stack, just because it takes so much of your portfolio to get overweight on a team like this at this kind of ownership that, a lot of the sharpest players have honed more in on two and three man stacks and then differentiate with their five man. So I think that's kind of how I'm going to continue to approach it here.
Obviously on paper, the D backs look amazing. I get it, but having Smith is getting pinch hit for, and so is, um, So is Jesus Sanchez. I mean, those guys are both like near fifty percent pitch hit risk. I mean, if this game is remotely close, those guys are coming out soon as Adams gets hit out of this game and the Rockies bringing the lefty. So there is that risk as well. Baked in projections don't account for that, obviously, because of the spot.
Just know having Smith going to be one of the more popular bats on the slate at $3,000, especially where he's batting in the order. You're probably looking at max three at bats, probably two at bats is the most likely scenario there. The Rocky side I love. I mean, Merrill Kelly, I've been targeting Merrill Kelly all season long. He's had like one or two spike performances in terms of strikeouts here and there.
This Rockies team against right-handed pitching is actually pretty sneaky overall. I mean, I love the lefties here. They're... People will look at these price points and think they're expensive, but they're really not. I mean, there's cheap guys in there, Zach Veen, Moniak I like, Rumfield, Kehrig, McCarthy. I like all the lefties, and then Hurter Goodman really good. I mean, Merrill Kelly's been miserable all year against lefties. He's coming off a spike performance. I'm not a believer in it.
I think he falls back, and the D-backs only have one lefty in that bullpen too, which does help it. And he pitched, I think, two or three days over the weekend previously. I don't think he pitched yesterday, so maybe he's available, but I doubt it. So give me the Rockies over the D-backs here. I love the Rockies. They're probably right up there next to the White Sox. It's like my favorite overall stack at ownership on the slate.
Yeah, I pretty much agree with everything you said. When you're playing the D-backs, I think Yamamoto, Garrett Cole, Nolan McLean, some of those punts that we talked about that wasn't the Tampa guy, or maybe just a pitcher that none of us mentioned at all that's projected for four percent that you liked a little bit. And if you do that, then you can play him with Chris Saylor or something. Just focus on if you are five men in the D-backs.
It doesn't matter if it's even six, seven, eight, nine, one or whatever. They're going to get ownership. So just look at how what's your mini stacks looking like? What's your pitchers looking like? Just do not eat all the ChalkChalk is the most popular, highly owned play on a slate. The term comes from sports betting, where the favorite is called the chalk.Don't label chalk good or bad. And I definitely like the Rockies as excuse me as well. Probably my favorite stack on the slate when it comes when we're looking at ownership. Flip-flopping, what's going on? I know I'm late. Just want to say thanks.
I understand you guys have helped me have a really profitable and enjoyable MLB season. Great job. Thanks again. Hey, thanks for the word, Flip. It's very nice of you and always love to hear that. Profitable. Heck, break even? That's phenomenal. Hey, heck, even losing two, three percent ROI all year, I would take in tournaments in most sports for sure. Many play for entertainment, fun. Obviously, everyone wants to win too, though. So don't beat yourself up over some tough stretches.

Spending rules are much easier to keep when you set them before a losing streak, not during one.Full explanation ↗ is always very key, but you love to see that flip and hope you have a good end of the year and some postseason baseball as well. All right, we got three games left. The Angeles and the A's, Walbert, Urania, and Jeffrey Springs on the mound. Pretty good hitting weather in this one. It's going to be over eighty degrees out there. And yeah, we talked about Urania. I mean, it's someone I just don't really pick on much. He always keeps the ball on the ground.
Very, very heavy ground ball lean. Which is pretty tough when it comes to the A's. They did get the job done, the A's did, though, late in the game in some solid hitter rankings. Shea Ling Lears, Lawrence Butler, don't mind either of them. But I do prefer the Angeles side for sure.
And, I mean, I think the Angeles are also – I would say one of my favorite stacks, but man, just looking at like Rockies versus Angeles, if they're really, Rockies is going to be a decent bit lower owned. I do prefer Rockies, but Jeffrey Springs is not good. And outside of Zach Netto and Mike Trout, this lineup is completely free to double spend pitching if you want to do so. Guarantee ninth inning at bats, good hitting weather.
I'm going right back to the Angeles for sure. Yeah, I mean, the Angeles look really good here. I do see the dry run to like just straight projections running one hundred fifty teams, mid salary at like forty nine four. You're getting one hundred percent Arizona stacks, which makes sense, obviously. And then the next team is is the Angeles. You're going to see a lot of Angels combined with the D-backs.
Angels as the mini stack because of the the price points on these guys um I do like it but I prefer to play the Angels if I'm playing them to just go into five stack it against the fly ball guy Jeffrey Springs and then you get that terrible bullpen behind them um Springs has been better against righties over the last month.
But if you look at the whole season, the whole season stats, I mean, he's atrocious to righties in terms of power and lefties for that. Gives up a ton of fly balls in this ballpark. It's going to play well. So, yeah, I have the Angeles high at my board. I do prefer the Angeles to the D-backs straight up at ownership, I think, in this ballpark. In a similar situation. So Neto looks great. Guzman was my guy, my hero last night. Right back to him.
Grissom looks great. Siri is a pretty big pinch hit risk, but good chance that he could definitely hit a home run in his first two at-bats. And then Trout obviously looks really good. Christian Moore. So you do have a pretty solid lineup here. And then on the A side, it would just be Butler and Walton, two of those lefties there. Don't really want to pick on Urania. I actually like him a decent amount as a LeverageLeverage is the edge you gain by rostering a play the field is underweight on, compared with how often it ends up in winning lineups. When that play outscores the popular option most lineups chose instead, you gain ground on those lineups, though the rest of your roster still decides where you finish.Look for leverage on players connected to the chalk, like the other side of a popular game or a teammate who can steal the popular player's touches.Full explanation ↗ pitcher on this slate.
I mean he's been really solid over the last month keeps the ball on the ground and you could see him go out there and throw even if he gives up a run or two or three. I mean pick up six strikeouts or five strikeouts and go six or seven innings and get you enough just from a floor standpoint. So on this type of pitcher slate so no no A's full stacks or stacking interest for me. It's all Angels in this game.
Alright, we're lockstep. We seem pretty lockstep on this slate, Nades. I'm excited for it. Two games left. Mariners and the Astros. George Kirby, Ethan Pecko on the mound. It's a small sample for Pecko, but he definitely is getting hit a lot harder against the left side of the plate than the right side. And good thing is, you look at this Seattle team, seven of the nine projected batters are hitting from the left side of the plate.
If you want a completely low-owned stack, I forget who Nades. Nades had one above... I have the Yankees. Yeah, yeah, the Yankees. So your Yankees play is my Mariners play today. Mariners, we're showing a couple percent higher. Regardless, though, they're absolutely LeverageLeverage is the edge you gain by rostering a play the field is underweight on, compared with how often it ends up in winning lineups. When that play outscores the popular option most lineups chose instead, you gain ground on those lineups, though the rest of your roster still decides where you finish.Look for leverage on players connected to the chalk, like the other side of a popular game or a teammate who can steal the popular player's touches.Full explanation ↗. You can play chalk around it. Yeah, I mean, you want lefties against Petco. The Mariners have a bunch of lefties. And outside of two batters, they're completely free on the slate where I want to spend up at pitching. So, yeah, I like the Mariners.
As far as the Astros against Kirby, I mean, Kirby's just a ground ball pitcher, so I don't love attacking on a slate this big. Guys that keep the ball on the ground, he's serviceable. I definitely think Gilbert better. Astros got to Gilbert yesterday. They got some power. So do I think the Astros are the worst play on the slate? I mean, no, but I do think they're in the bottom half, so I'm not going to make a case for them.
But, yeah, a little interest in the Mariners, hoping they roll out a lineup with seven lefties because that's what you want against Petco. Yeah, I mean, you want the lefties on both sides here. Mariners look a lot better, but I hate this ballpark, and that's kind of why I do give the slight edge and the ownership going to the raised pitcher here. It's a better ballpark. It's a lot more leverage on the field against – equally two probably pretty shitty plays in general in retrospect to the slate.
So that's kind of how I did that tiebreaker there, but I definitely get it. I mean, Raleigh looks good. Montez, their, their new kid, new kid that they called up. I mean, this dude looks like a home runner bust type of bat, but at his price point I mean, it makes a lot of, a lot of work, $3,400 with a ton of power.
That's, I mean, that's not a, That's not a bad price for basically all or nothing kind of bat, and that's what you want in tournaments anyways, right? So I do think he's interesting. On the Astros side, it would just be the lefties, Trammell, Jordan, Varsho. If those guys are in there, I think they're fine as one-offs. Varshow at $2,900, Trammell at $2,700. He'd probably be my favorite. There is some pinch hit risk there, but.
Um I don't love either side of this game really Astros bullpen is the more attackable one um it's gotten better and if you get in the back half that bullpen it's really good obviously with the haters of the world but um yeah I get the reasoning I I just like a lot of other spots more more than this one but wouldn't fault anyone for going definitely on that on the lefties on the Mariners and I think that's a that's a good mini stack over the Angels I think if you're playing the D-backs and going to some of these cheaper lefties that are in the same kind of price range as these Angels I mean you look at Christian Moore right he's going to be
One of the more popular bats on the slate at $3,000 at second base um play up brock roden or something like that a switch hitter at $2,300 or play Cole Young at $3,200 two hundred dollars more like little things like that is Sometimes all you need to do in baseball to be different, and that's where I would prefer to play the Mariners is in those kind of stacks.
The Yankees kind of fit that build as well. If you're stacking the D-backs, it's not just, oh, go to the back half of Arizona and they're going to get lower on. It's not the case on this slate because of the prices at the back and just how much they project ahead of The FieldThe field is everyone else entered in a contest, the group of lineups you are competing against. Before you build, picture the typical lineup in your contest. Then decide on purpose where you'll match it and where you'll step away from it.Full explanation ↗ overall this late in the year. So that's where I would use the Mariners the most, I think.
I also think if you're someone that dabbles in the night slate, I mean, the Angeles are going to be mega, mega popular. And then the Dodgers, if you need to pivot off of any of them, I think the Mariners are a pretty smart way to go with only three games in the night slate. Last game of the night, the Dodgers and the Padres, Robbie Ray and Yamamoto on the mound.
I mean, man, if this was like five years ago, Robbie Ray, we'd be in for a freaking pitcher's duel, but not necessarily the case. With that being said, I mean, I still don't think he's garbage, but it mainly comes down to the Dodgers are just expensive. Like we're talking, we want to spend up at pitching or this and that. And you look at this team, only one player below $4,000 and that's Keke. Kiki, do you love me? Shout out to my man G-Ryzen.
I love myself Kiki always. So, heck, he might be my favorite bet even though there is some pinch hit risk. He always hits lefties well, though. He's cheap. He's third base eligible. It mainly comes down to, though, it's a pretty big price for these Dodgers. But, yeah, it's the late night Hammer. Dodgers going to get it done today.
Yeah, I mean, the Dodgers look really good on paper, which is crazy to say against San Diego because if – I mean, San Diego wants to win these games just as much as the Dodgers do.
So, with having Maton Miller, Rodriguez, Morjan, all these guys rested, I mean, there's – less than uh I mean it's not much less than a hundred percent chance one of those absolute complete lockdown bullpen arms is coming in in this series um they're not going to leave Robbie Ray out there to dry when they're trying to win these games and um I mean it's a really three-headed race in the wild card especially in the nl between the Padres the Phillies and the Cubs right and then the Padres still have an outside chance to get better than that too so um I think the Dodgers look solid on paper.
I prefer the lower own guys and the more affordable guys like the Will Smith of the world, the Tio Hernandez of the world, the Tommy Edmonds, Kiki Hernandez. Those are the guys I prefer. I mean, even Pahez, I think at $4,500, he's reasonably priced, fairly low ownership compared to Coors Field and the other guys in his price point there. Have to have interest in the Dodgers. I'm just super worried with that bullpen, with all of those guys rested.
I mean, the Padres punted yesterday, throwing out Canning and Wandi Peralta. But Tyler Hart, a lefty, Maton Miller, Rodriguez, Morjan, like I said, those guys are all having pitched in two days. So there's probably a hundred percent chance one of those guys comes in or multiple. That's a great call there, and yeah, I already didn't love them much. The pricing was up. There's a lot of games on this slate, and that's a great reason to push me even farther away from them.
I do think it's a pretty solid slate, though. Again, my Mariners was your Yankees. That was completely no ownership. We both liked the Angeles. Everyone knows what the D-backs is, but we both liked the Rockies. We thought Mets were a little interesting. The White Sox-Royals game, we absolutely liked a bunch. Braves, indifferent, too. I liked them a little more.

You can feel the high intensity on. I'd be lying if I said I watch much baseball in the regular season. You only got so much time in the day. Postseason on, though, I love the staggered start times. We're already talking about that, but that's the life of a DFS content provider in the industry, right? So I do like that. Projections have kind of updated a little bit. I think it's a lot closer than people are giving credit for between Gaussman and Englert in terms of projected ownership.
If that's truly the case, which I do think is going to be the case leading up to Locke, I think just getting more Gaussman in tournaments, especially in the larger field stuff, I think that's a pretty good buy opportunity there. And then... Uranus still LeverageLeverage is the edge you gain by rostering a play the field is underweight on, compared with how often it ends up in winning lineups. When that play outscores the popular option most lineups chose instead, you gain ground on those lineups, though the rest of your roster still decides where you finish.Look for leverage on players connected to the chalk, like the other side of a popular game or a teammate who can steal the popular player's touches.Full explanation ↗.
So I actually prefer probably the Pecos in the Jeffrey Springs of the world down in that lower value tier more than the Tampa Bay guy, just because I think so many rosters, I mean, I'd not be shocked to see Cash GameA cash game is a contest that pays a large share of the field, usually close to half, the same flat prize. And Englert or Gaussman and Englert, to be honest, as we lead up, because I'm getting him as my highest on projected or highest on pitcher when I run projections.
So I did want to just make that final final note for people out there. So don't just go think, oh, this guy unlocks the D-backs because everyone's already on that. And that's why the D-backs ownership is going higher and higher as we lead to lock, because now you've got a guy projected for thirteen to fifteen points at $5,300. Hey, that's a great call to finish it off. That's going to do it for us. Shout out to everyone watching.
Hit that like, hit that subscribe on the way out. We will see you in the Ship It Nation Discord for big nades on Tidal. Be safe. Good luck. Peace.
