From the archive. This breakdown is for the Monday, September 14 NFL slate. Salaries, weather and picks were for that day.
Latest NFL show →Tyler Tamboline and Matthew Belman review Week 1 through optimal lineups and tournament winners, emphasizing construction over hindsight. Jahmyr Gibbs remained a strong foundation, but popular pieces needed complementary ceiling plays. Bryce Young–Jalen Coker with a Chicago bring-back illustrated how a smaller stack could preserve other correlations and expensive running backs. Poor results from Colston Loveland, Michael Mayer, and Ja'Marr Chase did not automatically invalidate the decisions to roster them.
Justin Jefferson and Breece Hall differentiated the Mega Milly winner without abandoning Gibbs or Mayer. The $100 winner used four Saints with Gibbs returning, showing that a losing team can still support a productive heavy stack. The review also supported considering Jacksonville stacks without forcing uncertain Cleveland bring-backs. Contest size, late scoring, injuries, and bankroll discipline shaped the broader lesson: evaluate the process and survive downswings instead of judging everything by one Sunday.
| Play | Call | The Take | At |
|---|---|---|---|
| Defended the pregame process despite the zero: Chicago scoring heavily and his route participation made the outcome insufficient reason to dismiss the play. | 3:51 | ||
| Reaffirmed as an excellent play in a strong matchup and a popular foundation that winning lineups could retain rather than automatically fade. | 5:08 | ||
| Bryce Young–Jalen Coker–D'Andre Swift | IN PLAY | Retrospective construction example: a quarterback with one receiver and a bring-back could complement Gibbs–Olave without requiring a full Detroit–New Orleans stack. | 17:49 |
| Jahmyr Gibbs–Chris Olave | A common starting correlation; the lesson was to consider a smaller stack from another game instead of automatically expanding this into a full game stack. | 17:49 | |
| ONE-OFF | Highlighted as an upside one-off when bypassing Lamar Jackson and Zay Flowers stacks, rather than assuming the Baltimore offense must be avoided entirely. | 18:14 | |
| Cincinnati Bengals | ONE-OFF | DST was offered as an alternative way to access the team's scoring environment when not rostering Burrow and Chase. | 18:14 |
| ONE-OFF | Supported as a standalone ceiling piece in the optimal-lineup review; his long touchdown illustrated the splash-play upside. | 18:36 | |
| LEVERAGE | Discussed as a lower-owned way to access Las Vegas production when not using Mayer, with salary and positional adjustments required. | 19:20 | |
| Lamar Jackson–Zay Flowers | The injury-shortened pairing changed the slate; a healthy second half could also have altered Henry's opportunity rather than simply adding more passing points. | 19:40 | |
| Jordan Love–Christian Watson | IN PLAY | Approved the $5 winner's stack: Love did not need to lead quarterbacks because Watson and the surrounding lineup supplied enough production. | 29:54 |
Clear for lift off. What's up, everyone? Tyler Tamboline here, a.k.a. Totec and Tambo, back for another season. Not another week, another season of the Takedown Breakdown here on the Ship It Nation YouTube station. This week, got my guy Belman here with me. We're going to be breaking down all things from the week one classic slate. We'll look at the couple of Milly Maker winners. Shout out to my guy Frankie Bourne getting the job done in the big Mega Milly.
Love him. I'll show some stuff off after just how honest he is and his approach to DFS as a whole. Just a really good dude. So congrats to him. Gibbons was right behind him. Another really good dude who... Almost went back-to-back years. If you follow along the Mega Milly, Blickle and I looked at it on Leverage Lane on Saturday because Blickle, who also had a good night last night, congrats to him in the showdown streets.
But last year, he came seventh in the tournament and Gibbons won it. This year, Gibbons falling just short in second, but still a really good week for him to start the season. But we'll look at that. We'll go to look at the five-dollar Milly over on DraftKings. And right now, we'll have to say, Belman, but also... Screw FanDuel, man. Just what a bad start to the year for them. Just absolutely wrecking dreams. I just went and checked my portfolio to make sure.
I know people say don't look and I probably shouldn't have. I had some really nice Caleb lineups, but at least one hole in each one. And it was the guy that has three O's in his name for zeros, Colston Loveland. What an insane outcome for a guy that scored, for a team that scored fifty points for Colston Loveland out there just running high end cardio. A lot of routes, by the way, maybe next week. But what's going on, my friend? How was your week one?
And excited to be back in here chatting some DFS with you.
First off it sounds like a similar story for me on FanDuel because I played that five dollar and I uploaded lineups at like I don't know eleven thirty when it was still working and then about an hour later I went to go you know I refreshed my stuff and changed some stuff around I went to go re-upload and obviously couldn't get there I was able to get the link on or to get there on my phone but I wasn't able to was too late I didn't have enough time I wasn't able to get it from my computer to my phone long story short when I looked at my lineups afterward I had like thirty five percent coker and thirty
Five percent flowers and it was same type of deal man going through each lineup hoping that one of them wasn't the milli maker because it would have just been what nightmares are made of you know what I mean The anti-sweat is that for sure. You know, the way it goes though, that's, that's DFS for you. I mean, a lot of people had some good scores out there.
Coach Sav, who's always been with us here on this show, says had a lineup score two thirty with a zero from Loveland. Imagine having Ryan says, imagine having Caleb Swift, Henry, Jefferson Watson combo. Nice little mini stack there with Jefferson Watson, by the way, because I had a really nice lineup on DraftKings. I think it was two hundred and twenty or something. And with Kyler in there with that stack set up. So just the way it goes. But Yeah, pretty incredible stuff.
So we're going to dig in. We're going to look at a lot of stuff this week when it comes to that, but any general takeaways off the top for you? To me, it was like a standard week one. I guess the big thing, and what I mean by that, I shouldn't say it like everyone's like, we looked last year. I told you last year means nothing to this year, but it's funny how the offenses were way down last year. This year, they were way up.
It was almost like defense was optional yesterday. So some big boy scores when we get to the optimal lineup, which I'll pull up here shortly. I believe it was . Point one four with a max salary spend. And we always start there just to just reverse engineer it. But I will say it was a lot of high scoring out there yesterday and a lot of like bounce back spots.
I know people don't like the word variance because it seems like an excuse, but people, again, I've been saying this for years now, Matt, and it's like, You can't just say, oh, I should have never played Loveland. Why? If I told you before the slate started, Chicago's putting up fifty points for their team. You wouldn't you don't want Loveland. Well, no. Then they just quiet right down. Or, you know, I I went on this. I played the Bengals stuff, man, but I wish I didn't.
Why? They scored thirty three points. It just didn't happen in the way you thought it would or wanted to. Like you could have played Chase Brown with the defense. You could have still picked up pieces. Obviously not the start you want.
From Ja'Marr Chase, but I'm just saying like a lot of the stuff that happened, that's my takeaway is you were, you were in a lot of the right places, the wrong pieces that that's could be any DFS week, but especially in week one and earlier in the season, your, your first takeaways before we get into it. Yeah. Kind of the same thing plays along with that. Just week one, everyone's healthy.
Prices were pretty cheap, so there were a lot of good plays all over the board, and it seemed like a bunch of the early games just blew up. So, you know, I was a little bit higher on the Vegas-Miami game. That game did nothing, and you get that when you have bad teams. Sometimes when you have bad teams... The defenses are bad. You get both teams going up and down the field. We didn't see that yesterday.
And you needed some of the expensive guys that people were a little bit hesitant to pay up for. Obviously, Gibbs smashed. He was in the smash spot. He's amazing. But Bijan was really good. Josh Allen was amazing. You talked about Chase not being good. That game was also weird. So, yeah, kind of what you talked about. Just a lot of variance and a lot of outcomes that you didn't really expect. But looking back on it, you're not surprised. Yeah, it's about how you put it together too.
I know people always talk about that and we'll get there when we look at it. I do want to drive up the stone here just to be able to see it and look at it too. But I mean, it will be pretty interesting. By the way, Gibbs ending up on the optimal. We'll get there in a second, but a couple of notes and not about Sean.
I just like that he brought the comment up because I want to address this too for a lot of people. Again, first off, the sign still exists. I will say there's been some thoughts around that sign for the last year or two of like, obviously you could still be disappointed in bad outings or bad days, or you win tickets and then don't capitalize. I'll give my own story. And it's not a sob story just to note it.
Like if you think you got smoked yesterday, imagine having two juggernaut tickets on FanDuel, two mega tickets on DraftKings. That's a three, three, three, three, that's six, $7,000.
That's over $15,000 in tickets a $5,000 ffwcq losing all of them and then you get to play a head-to-head on Sunday or on Sunday night for a ffwc seat where you tied the other day and then you lose that by six points I mean we all get smoked all all kinds of times like so it's not you know sean nothing to you I know you're just putting the comment out there but a couple notes one A lot of people got smoked a lot worse, and that's not about comparing.
It's just noting a lot of people get smoked for a lot every single week. The reason I said earlier, and I'm going to bring it up later to show you guys, but I like Frankie because he won the Mills yesterday and showed it, and then he posted a tracker of his Bankroll ManagementBankroll management is how you size your DFS spending relative to the money you have set aside to play, called your bankroll, so normal losing streaks do not wipe you out.Write down your per-slate limit before the season starts. Spending rules are much easier to keep when you set them before a losing streak, not during one.Full explanation ↗ that said, not this time, Satan. And it shows the downswing that he was on going into this Milly win. And it's beyond belief for some people.
So just noting, again, not comparing, just factoring it in. But also, it never fails to amaze me when people talk about losing in DFS, let alone NFL DFS. Short Sample, only eighteen regular season games. Week one and eighteen are kind of like... Pricing's been out for a month. Week eighteen is preseason. You lose eighty percent of the time, man. Like, it's like... Or hopefully less, but I'm saying, like, the best players may be cashing in twenty-five percent of the time. So, it's like, to me, twenty-five, thirty.
My point being, you're gonna lose all the time. You just have to move on to the next one. So... Not to Sean, just noting it in general, because I think that's a common sentiment when people show up on Monday, almost everybody loses. Very few people did not get smoked yesterday. Like very few people won.
I don't know, Matt, if you have any rebuttal for that, but while I bring up everything else, I take away to bring to the stream today because I want people to know that's completely normal. It's not fun. We don't like to get smoked. We don't play to lose, but you will lose way more often than you're going to win. So you have to get used to that or it can really fail you as the season goes on. You got to have that mindset.
It's definitely no fun to talk about it, but that's the nature of DFS in general. When we talk about DFS nowadays, we're not talking about Cash GameA cash game is a contest that pays a large share of the field, usually close to half, the same flat prize. Fifty-fifties, double-ups and head-to-heads are the common cash games.Treat cash games as the steady base of your bankroll. Use one safe core across your cash entries on a slate, and save riskier ideas for tournaments.Full explanation ↗. In GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool)A GPP is a tournament whose prize pool is guaranteed to pay out in full even if the contest does not fill. Payouts are steep: a small group at the top wins most of the money. Before you enter a tournament lineup, ask how it finishes first, not just how it cashes. If you cannot name that scenario, rebuild it.Full explanation ↗, like you said, you're just not going to win that often. It's all about taking advantage of the spots you do win in and how much can you win when you do have lineups up top. Knowing that most weeks... Aren't going to be great.
And, you know, if you can make some changes, that's why we talk about late swap and making some changes to get some lineups into men cash, because that can just keep you in the game. So it all plays a hand in each other, but yeah, I think people don't really like talking about it, but yeah, it's important to be cognizant of. And yeah, I mean, that sucks. You had a really rough day yesterday.
I certainly feel for you, but not as if my day was any better. You know what I mean? So like, I totally get it. Nobody cares. Like I say, everybody has their story, but the bottom line is it's like, it's literally just part of the plan. And this is why the next point Sean made again. I mean, there's lots of nades is talking about, you know, coach says to happy to back. Nate said he won fourteen cash one. You're going to lose anyway.
Not having coker lines, all that stuff. Yes. But I like this one because I, Couple notes. One, I saw people, I saw one guy in the Discord say, if I don't win this week, I'm going to be screwed for the rest of the season. Well, tell me you put way too much in without telling me in week one, not to be rude, just factual. It's like you have, you should be spacing it out.
Like if you're going to, you plan to play the entire season, you got to be having eight weeks divided by your bankroll or something like that. But the good news is, yeah, like that's why we play for the tickets. And that's why the bankroll management is key. There's no, I'm not dead. I'm right back in it tonight. I can win FFWC tonight.
I got four entries in the four ninety that I had a couple of tickets for and I got a couple more to play that tonight. So it's like I could win one outright in a tournament. I just won it last week. Who says I can't do it again? So my point is everyone has their story, but you just got to move on and you have to have the mindset to and remember that like Typically everything works out. The worst days happen.
If somebody is, you know, I'm, I'm older now and I know Matt, I'm, I don't want to date us too much. We want to, we're saying we're young, but we're older in the crew. Lots of younger players out there. It's like, if you have your first breakup, like you think life is going to be over and then you're right back here. Like I've had multiples, like you get every, and then everything always works out.
You just have to have that mindset, that mantra of like something better is coming. Maybe these all didn't go my way because next weekend I win the Milly Maker. Then do you think I will give a shit about how yesterday went? So make sure you can stay in the game so you can have the event happen. A buddy of mine said yesterday, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when and how much. And that's, I love that line too.
It's like, you know, just stay in the game and you can be there for when it pays off. So I love that. And I just think it's so important to have that mindset because- at least for me personally, like even just building DFS lineups. And again, I'm doing a lot of stuff by hand, putting it into the computer stuff, like just feeling good about it. You know, I play better when I'm feeling good about it.
And to what you're talking about, like being able to put bad days behind you easier and just being able to compartmentalize really is very helpful in this game.
And I talked about this too so I would like doing the show nades obviously jumps on with me a lot as well but we talk about it's almost like uh cathartic to like come on here and just be able to vent with the mindset and like to stay fresh to stay ready to say like it's understanding we get it right we understand it we're here for everybody we want people to do well if we don't do well but at the end of the day we all have a story and again nobody cares so we just get back to work and that's what we're doing here I will tell people I've stressed this a bunch throughout the season this is going to be the go-to I give the pitch.
This is the first of the season though. So I'll tell people the story. I get pitched as one of the owners of a site on a bunch of new tools, AI sports betting, this thing with the data in the backend, all these different tools that people pitch me. This was the one that I chose out of like that I got presented. And you know, Nate says it right away. This is elite. If you haven't used this yet, you don't even need to use the promo.
You can go on and try it for free. But there is a special promo exclusive to Ship It Nation members. So again, there's, it's not really a pitch. You can go on there and use it for free. DFSOS.com. It's a DFS operating system. I'm going to show you the dashboard on this episode. I'm going to go through how we're using it. And there is so much more coming. The owner of this, Josh is an amazing dude. I've met him at live finals.
He's been crushed in the MMA streets, tiger vole. Uh, I forget the number, but a tiger vole three, maybe I want to say, but anyway, awesome dude met him at a live final before, uh, He's been in the streets for a long time himself and he wanted something where he could kind of have everything in one place. It's completely complimentary to your stack. I don't care if you're a member at Ship It Nation, ETR, Stochastic, Roto Grinders, whatever. You can use this.
It's got everything customizable. But just of note, if you do end up using it and want to use code SHIPIT, I can promise you when it goes to ninety nine, it's still going to be a steal because he's coming out with an insane tool that will be featuring on Ship It Nation, hopefully by week three. I've already got the preview of it behind the scenes and it's insane. It'll be it'll change the DFS game for everybody out there.
But already what you can use it for code ship it locks you in the entire NFL season at twenty nine a month, which is the same price as pro. And you get all the stuff with the player analysis, which I'm going to show you. You get the AI analyst, which is just a way to basically take the data and say, work it in my favor. It's more AI assisted than it is like people think AI slop.
That's what the forty nine other presentations were about. You can build out some custom projection sets with your stuff. You get everything you're looking for and more inside. But let me go into it for a second here and go to the dashboard. And I'm logged in. So you can own your dashboard. Welcome back, Totak and Tambo. You can claim your profile. There's a social aspect to it.
Like if you go to player profiles on here and you want to look up, you know, M. Belman, nine, six, seven. I can, you know, your picture's on there. It's linked to your X account, right? I can go follow you on X. I can find out. You can go come on here and claim your profile. But if we go to perfect lineup, it's already here, right? So if I go to NFL... Right, right away. Boom.
NFL, twenty twenty six, September thirteenth main slate to ninety two point one four. We're going to break this down in a second, but then we're able to do a slate review. You can go to the contest lobby and sort by EV. If you're ever looking for those tournaments like free rolls and things like that, where you want to know, like, what are the EV tournaments or where's the link to the contest? It's connected right to DraftKings.
You can pull the link up and be right in it and something on a tournament that maybe others are missing out on. If you're looking for news, I use this all over the weekend. If you're looking for news on certain players that you want to find out about, and yesterday we were using it for different players, you just type it in. It'll have everything there. You can go by sport, by position, usage, weather, injury, whatever it wants. You can backtest.
Let's say you use two different sites for sports. Uh, fantasy points or for OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗, you can backtest those CSVs. It'll actually tell you which one was more accurate. You know, when a Sheets goes in our Discord and says, Hey, the Ship It Nation PGA projections and ownership are super accurate. You should use those in your optimizer. People always forget, like, you know, filling your optimizer with the best inputs and is a good idea.
You can find that out with the fantasy points and the ownership backtesting. We're using the perfect lineups. You can see the player profiles, like I talked about, and we'll pull those up in a minute. There's some beta testing on certain things that you can check out. There's weather for, you know, you want the baseball weather for the slate. You can go down and see the exact park the factors, all the different stuff with it. The hourly forecasts are updating automatically.
So if you need it, it's like everything you could possibly need in one place. And like I said, there's a really special preview that he's got coming up. So check it out if you haven't done so already. I'm going to move over to the perfect lineup, Matt. And everyone who's watching us for the first time is probably thinking like, that's the optimal. So be it. What actually won? We'll pull that up in a second, starting with the Mills.
For the five dollar over here where jay wusao twenty eight one jay wusao twenty eight congrats to you with two seventy three point nine eight for a million bucks with a $50,000 spend we'll go into that one when we get that but here's the optimal matt any any thoughts on this we've got a Bryce Young coker Run it back with Swift. You plug in the most optimal guy with Gibbs. You've got Olave across from him.
You get the Bengals D if you're not on any of the Bengals stack. You get the Goedert play if you're not on any of the Smith, Hertz, or Barkley stuff. You get Watson as a one-off. And then you get Derek Henry as a big time upside one off, which that paid off very well yesterday. But thoughts on this lineup here. And again, nobody had it.
It's just noting like it actually worked out yesterday that a $50,000 lineup with, you know, everything on it that made sense looks like a pretty good lineup for tournaments. Yeah, probably really rare in that regard. Didn't even think about that, but that it all adds up to fifty. But the first thing that I think about, like. There are some LeverageLeverage is the edge you gain by rostering a play the field is underweight on, compared with how often it ends up in winning lineups. When that play outscores the popular option most lineups chose instead, you gain ground on those lineups, though the rest of your roster still decides where you finish.Look for leverage on players connected to the chalk, like the other side of a popular game or a teammate who can steal the popular player's touches.Full explanation ↗ guys, certainly. Like Watson is low-owned. Bryce Young is low-owned.
But there isn't anyone that's like crazy low-owned that no one played that came out of nowhere in week one. Like these are all guys that were played not a lot, you know, a bunch of them not as one-offs, but certainly in stacks. And, you know, an eighty-nine yard catch from Watson in the first quarter certainly doesn't hurt his chances of being optimal. Henry with a You know, it looks like he's found the Fountain of youth.
That whole offense, like there were a couple quarterbacks that could have been optimal, that would have been optimal on a lot of slates. You mentioned Caleb earlier. Bryce Young is obviously the guy. Josh Allen, a bunch of really, really good quarterback performances yesterday. Yeah, that game ended up on most of them. Again, people always look at this and say like, why the hell would you even analyze this? It's just to work backwards, right? It's reverse engineering how we're thinking about it and looking at it.
But I will say from a roster construction data perspective, combined with the week one comments we made about kind of just being able to plug some of these guys in. Well, it's like, if you think about it, a lot of people started with Gibbs and Olave, but then what did they do after that? A lot of people game stacked it, right? If you're going to use that combo... Then why not just get Bryce with one receiver with a Bring-BackIn the NFL, a bring-back is usually a wide receiver, tight end or running back from the team facing your quarterback stack.Pick the bring-back who gains the most when his team falls behind. In football that's usually the opponent's top pass catcher, not a running back who loses carries in a comeback.Full explanation ↗?
All right, I can get some action in that game. Well, where am I not going? I'm not on Lamar. I'm not on Zay. I'm not on Herbert. I'm not on McConkie. I'm not on Burrow and Chase. All right, well, how would that game fail? All right, the Bengals D could be plugged in. This is again, a results oriented finish, but I'm just noting like how you can think about it. If I'm not going to be on those other guys, why not get a guy like Henry?
It's not like I'm fading Gibbs or moving off and I'm just going to another running back. That's fine. In week one, Watson as a one-off in that game could have been other guys, by the way, like who else is down here? Let's look and see what else did we get? Anybody else that popped up that we can see here? You could move certain guys around. Obviously, Jeanty was sixty six if you moved the flex stuff around and and made other things work.
But at least in the top five, it's kind of all the same stuff. Jeffrey, here's one finally with the Jefferson mini. And these are the alternate. Like they're all staying well above two ninety and you could go deeper. But just to note it again, it's pretty much the same stuff. Right. You can see Bryce Young. Coker, Swift. There's the mini that a lot of people could use. This lineup faded the Detroit game. We talked about how it could be spread out, but it still hit the Cincy piece.
It still hit Goedert. It still spent over forty $9,000. So on a week one, five dollar milli, something like that. This would be plenty fine to be found from within. And then Genti, if you're not on Meyer, it's fine to go to him at lower OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗ and just absolutely crush. So I think all that makes sense to me to work backwards from anything else you want to take away there. Any questions in the chat that you saw that you want to hit on?
But I want to see just so. The one thing that I definitely think is important to touch on, and this is every week, every sport in DFS really, but the Zay and Lamar having a second half together would have changed the slate. Those are facts. I mean, those guys absolutely nuked. Zay was looking like he was going to be the highest scorer on the slate if he had stayed in that game. Who knows what would have happened.
But you also get McConkie getting hurt late, which I know affected – uh shaloub so like that's the give and take that NFL DFS injuries happen but certainly zay not being hurt changes the entire complexity of the slate Yeah, I think that the setup, I would say, too, is like... And I saw, actually, congrats to Shalhoub. Nice run. He was up there. I know he'll be disappointed with that finish.
I actually finished twentieth or twenty-first or something in the two-fifty milli on FanDuel with one of the lineups that I did have from previous that, again, I would have overrode it. Like, it was definitely not what I was rolling with, but at the end of the day, we'll take it. I'm just noting... I had McConkie and Genti. Everyone had Genti, but I had the highest McConkie at the end, right? When the injury happened. So it happens.
The main thing about that stuff though, too, is just a quick comment. Cause I'm always a realist about this stuff is like, nothing says, well, he was killing them. Yeah, he was, he already got his points. So it's like, it could have easily been QJ, like him being out there could have also Fried up QJ for something instead of now them being able to clamp down.
It's like the second half was a, it changes the slate in a bunch of ways with no I'm sorry. I'm saying like, it could be more, uh, it could have been more Zay that hurt Henry. And now Henry. Right. Totally. I didn't just mean, yeah, you're right. Yeah. Totally. That's what I mean. I think that's important. So what do people say? Did FanDuel just note something or no? DraftKings is coming at FanDuel right now.
Said, you know, like I think Peter Jennings talked about it. We always talk about the industry. CSU Ram had posted, what a sad state of affairs from FanDuel. The site was unusable on Sunday morning and there has been no resolution offered. Personally, I reserved entries into contests and wasn't able to edit anything. Every dollar lit on fire. I can tell you that.
Speaking of like Gibbons and all those guys, like in my juggernaut, I had the dummies in and they didn't get anywhere because they were that. But I'm saying like at the bottom of the barrel, was all, there was forty entries with zeros. They didn't even get their, they didn't even get to edit it, so. And like, people aren't talking about today, also, the people that won those contests. Like, those people aren't like, let me give them that money back because other people couldn't.
No, no, no, they're not gonna. It's like, that's where a man doesn't want to eat it, though. No, totally, but I'm just saying, like, You know, if you play DFS long enough, luck is going to be on your favor sometimes, and it's going to be against you sometimes. The people who got their lineups in FanDuel yesterday before the error and were able to change whatever they wanted had a massive, massive, like, unknown advantage over the field, which should never happen.
But count your blessings if you're one of those winners, you know? Yeah, the thing is about this too, I don't disagree. Like I really wish, and you know, we all have a voice and we can use it for as much as we want, but in the world that we live in, and then I should say like the niche that we live in and the space that we play within, EV squeezers are out there no matter what.
So you will never see, it's like when people say, don't go to the gas station for a week. Everybody take a week off from going to the gas station for your vehicle and just watch what happens to them. The price will have to come down because they just get hit so hard. But you can't stop people. They're going to the gas station. It's just going to be a constant flow.
Nobody's watching those tournaments sit hundreds and thousands of dollars short of hitting and not filling them. So it's just the way it goes or not going and running to them and still playing them. So DraftKings posted those. That's what I was getting to. I appreciate the breakdown here. Somebody said... So DraftKings posted... And said, your DFS home should probably be somewhere that treats DFS like it matters. We've noticed other companies just don't care. We're not shocked.
Biggest prize pools, more ways to play, better customer service. Always choose DraftKings. I think most people already do, though. So it's like I like it because from a marketing standpoint, there's no better time to stop on your competition than when it actually warrants it. I'm not big on it as a whole or in general, but I think it's it's definitely important. And said, you know, Leone just posted. Congrats to him. Huge day yesterday as well.
And I don't know if we'll find is, but he won like the $5,000 Thunderdome, the smaller one. And, you know, he's a crusher at those. So congrats to him. He posted, if you were affected by the FanDuel outage yesterday, make sure to contact support ASAP. Blow them up. Yeah, who cares? I know people think it goes nowhere. Blow them up, though. He says, always got to get that paper trail started.
You should at least receive the equivalent of your net losses in bonus money to be used in week two. I agree. And I think that's a fair solution. Eat it. You got to eat it and tell us you got to use it the next week. I don't even care. We used it week one. Let's use it week two. But it's like at the end of the day, get it taken care of for your people, man.
It's just sick that they don't do anything though. So whatever, we'll see. But let's keep it rolling here. Let's go back. Mr. Ross says, yeah, I need the receipts for sure. So Let's go back. What I went to next here, I'm going to share this. But if you guys go to the slate review, and I double clicked it just to show you where I'm at. You'll see here, it comes out like this, right?
If you're not on it already, you just change it to all months for NFL tournament. Luckily, we're in the first month in the future, but you can go back. This is what I think people don't understand. There's four years of data. Most people can't scrape any of this stuff or have it all in one place for you. That's why this is cool. Somebody asked earlier too, I will answer this quickly. I can't give it all away.
It's not mine to give away, but just noting, it says, does this site take some of your lineups what about all and analyze them and get suggestions on how you could have done it differently and suggestions for the following week. Can't say for sure what's coming, but I did drop a little breadcrumbs at the beginning. He showed me a couple really cool things and that's actually not even the coolest one, the one you're talking about there.
But I do think you're going to be able to do that as well and be able to look into it. I know there's an option already, but he's just working on a bunch of different things that are in beta. So I don't know. I think it's a steal for a dollar a day. If you use code ship it, but just, you know, bias, of course, like everybody always says, but honestly, if you like this show, there's never been a better product.
That's why I love this so much because it's like, I do want to dig in. I think Nate said it earlier. Um, about digging into some of these options. He said, I spent so much time analyzing Yuta, BK Rader, Mock, FJ Born, and many others, especially in the baseball streets. Like good idea when it comes to that, Nades. I think that's a really good call. He said, I reviewed all fifteen hundred classic slate data on their site from NFL. So, yeah, I definitely think that's good.
It is for FanDuel. Support at FanDuel.com. And also just throw in, try hitting up VIP at FanDuel.com. Like I said, I don't care what nothing no more. Blow their ass up. Like it's seriously disgusting. Like I said, how they don't even acknowledge it. So I don't care. I don't have any sponsors with them. I wouldn't want one. I don't care. We have no business with FanDuel.
So to me, when they're doing this to a community of people that we care about and play and we have such a small niche thing that we're getting after, blow their ass up. Honestly, just send them email after email after email. Let their AI bots explode. It's perfect. Just get them. And this is important to remember too. Sorry, Jay, I got to hit this one. And sorry, Matt, because I'm ranting. But now Tambo's tangents on a Monday morning after week one.
But this is not the same. Dave from Stochastic, awesome dude, posted about this. And I was just clarifying. So if he was watching this or comes back, it was like I wasn't coming at him. I was just noting it. The bonus cash people got was what you were supposed to get. That's what they owe automatic. That was promoted out for a month. If you had a train yesterday that lost money, they owed you the seven fifty. It was always going to be seven fifty.
It was always going to be for one week only. And it was always going to be bonus cash. It was right in the terms of service. We had that posted for our community over at Ship It.
We said, hey, if you're a smaller player and you're not going to be able to use that seven fifty in week two, don't just jam it in to try and win the money, because if you lost it all, got the bonus money, you would have to play it all in week two. So there's no benefit to people getting this. It's just because you didn't get, you just didn't hit your one fifty or you got screwed on it.
And so you just are getting what you're, they're counting anybody that got the losses in the five dollar is getting paid. Most people was the full seven fifty because they couldn't even get an edit in. So they had a zero or a dummy lineup. So that's nothing. They have not acknowledged the actual issue at all. That's what you were supposed to get. That's completely normal. Just so you know. So anyway. All right, going back to it.
We're going to start with the five dollar, Matt. I want to see some of the comparisons and the differences. But Jay Wasow, twenty eight, I said spent $50,000 dropped to seventy three point nine eight. So still about twenty point shy of the optimal. But it doesn't matter. You don't need the optimal. It's just showing we're just showcase showcasing the difference of how you can get there. Here was the lineup.
And if I click his name, actually, it's even cooler and better because now I can actually go in and see they had three lineups, one for three. Imagine you got three lineups in the Mills for five bucks, taking your shot. One of them cashes and it gets all the way there to the top of the house. That's insane, bro. That's insane. And look at this. One thirteen was entry number two. One, ten was entry number three.
So you went one, ten, one, thirteen, and then pow, let me throw a two, seventy-three point nine, eight on you here. And this is the lineup. If you want to look at it, it is Jordan Love, It had Jameer Gibbs and Derrick Henry. It had Watson, DJ Moore, and Jalen Coker. And then it had Dallas Goedert with the Steelers D. We know the Steelers D. We know Gibbs. We kind of had those guys typically as the ChalkChalk is the most popular, highly owned play on a slate. The term comes from sports betting, where the favorite is called the chalk.Don't label chalk good or bad. Ask whether each popular play deserves its ownership, then decide which chalk you'll eat and which you'll fade.Full explanation ↗.
But if you look at it, the Love-Watson stack, the Swift-Coker-Minnie, And then the plugins of like Ravens, you got a, you know, Derek Henry, DJ Moore, Dallas Goedert. And then of course the Steelers D were popular. Give me your thoughts on this lineup, man. Just insane takedown by this guy to win this tournament with three lineups, two of them not cashing. I mean, how many people were in this tournament? Eight hundred thousand people. I mean, that's insane.
Uh, So the first things that I notice are Love wasn't even that good as far as quarterbacks go. He put up a fine score, but look at Bryce Young's score. Look at Josh Allen's score. Look at Caleb Williams score. The difference is he didn't play Mayer, and he got the highest tight end score with Goedert scoring twice. He played a defense that scored a touchdown. And...
Just had a lineup that for lack of a better term nutted everywhere else and love was good enough so I mean big props to this guy well constructed lineup um yeah I'm just still in awe that in the five dollar milli put in three lineups two of them didn't cash one of them I mean his other two lineups you know Did his other two lineups didn't even come close to outscoring? No, like on the second line, that's somebody else.
He was in on, he still had the Steelers D. He was still in on like Coker. He went to Tet. He went to Burrow and Chase with Bijan, but he had Jones and Golden. Still as a part of that game. He was kind of in on the Las Vegas Miami game because he used Tucker there.
And then the other game he didn't use Tucker, but he had Willis with a Chan with the defense kind of just racking up the entire, you know, around the goal line, you'd have Willis or a Chan. And then obviously the defense stepping up and getting in position with Lloyd and with, you know, Barkley instead of Goedert up there, but he still had Loveland. So, you know, and for Chicago, so he was in on the same three spots, just spread it.
He gave himself a little bit of a, portfolio diversification. And then someone else pointed out too, like he had Pierce in one. He had Golden in another. He had DJ Moore in the other. He was kind of like picking it. And then he had Henry. He had... And he had Barkley. He kind of had those upside three. I think if you think about it, like, again, it's, it's not going to be taken as like the most sharp play.
I don't think it's not about, you know, how people would look at it. Only three lineups kind of put them all together, but it was, there was some sort of thought around three games, four games, some plugins that made sense. And then looking for those upside options. Like if you think about like Pierce more like, Like if you were going to get something out of them or Golden sort of having a splash play or something like that.
Watson, he was in on the same type of spots. That's what I noticed. Yeah, that's a good call. Go ahead. I was just going to say, yeah, to that point, like I don't think this was like three lineups that were made like weeks apart from each other. I think they were three lineups made together with a purpose, to your point. Yeah. And if Josh is watching over at DFS OS, I will say a couple of notes.
I would say like, it's just sorting on this that I don't want to forget. Like I wish there was, I know it's in order, but I'd still like to be able to sort this a little better. And then I think this is really cool. So I'll, I'll note more on this in a second. And then this, I'd probably want to see like QB, like do it like the order of, of, I'm asking my wishlist as we go.
You know me, I was like, you know, just got to say it like it is. I'm hoping to get it, but I'd like to see this in its order, like QBRBRBY, if it's going to be this view. And then I'd love to still see the OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗ mixed in here as well. But good, good stuff.
This is what's incredible though, because we'll show you in a second here, but Belman, this is kind of cool to see how the flex usage was, how the team stacks were, like everything like that. Because what I want to see now, going back to Slate Review, And clicking in, let's go to like the mega and shout out to Frankie again. We'll go to him in a second.
I got more on him, but I want to see like just looking at Gibbons for a second for this tournament. When it pops up, he played the max twenty two average salary. You're able to see how many unique players he used. You can see an order, what his exposures were, but you can also see the OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗ on those players. So people wonder like, oh, Michael Mayer was a donkey play.
Well, then why did one of literally the best DFS players in the world have almost seventy percent of them in his life? He didn't work out. It's not about the result. I'm just noting like there's something that tells you that you want to learn. There's always lessons in this stuff. Oh, I feel like an idiot. I played Ja'Marr Chase. I'm a dummy because why would I ever play Ja'Marr Chase yesterday? He had a bad day. Well, because we don't play for the result.
Like the results are a product of the process. The one of the best players had fifty percent of him. So It's just little things like that. You're going to have duds within your lineups. But now you can see kind of how he stacked it, his flex usage, what it ended up being, like, fifty seven percent, obviously being that high on Mayer. He thought it was a good idea to use that to his advantage in this. You can go through all of his lineups.
And see what he had there and how they performed so really interesting stuff when it comes to that but I do want to go back and look at frankie's lineup might be an easier way that I'm missing there just to jump back and forth but uh fj born this was the winning lineup he had two twenty three wow point two four he snuck it out I'm trying to see here so none of these guys any of these guys Jefferson Jefferson at the end was that what it was because think about it shuck gibbs Warren amanra played into ot early vla wow
So Jefferson getting there got him by point two four to the milli that's crazy that is crazy unless the Raiders for gibbons did anything late like to put him there but I don't think they did so yeah wow that's a uh I mean, that's a sweat for sure. And I know a lot of people... Oh, yeah, that's true. I wonder if... Actually, it's even crazier. Did the Raiders do anything late where they turned the ball over or anything like that? Like, it could be that as well.
I didn't even think. Yeah, I'm not sure. No, I don't remember. If anybody remembers the game, let us know. But anyway, that's what's super interesting about this. But if we go into it and look at his build that won... Same thing. So he had five lineups, and this is why it's interesting as well. Okay, thirty. He was eighty percent on Mayer. He was eighty percent on Bijan, a big stand. I wonder what his Gibbs exposed. So field on Gibbs, eighty percent on Bijan.
So playing them together in some as well, obviously, and that makes sense. So just like I say, very interesting to be able to see that, how he played. Flex usage was a little more spread out. So he used, this is actually interesting. I know it's only five lineups. It's not, you know, you can only, I say, it's just, you know, think about that. It's $20,000 plus. But just noting it, Mayer on four of his five lineups, but only flex tight end usage in one.
So see how that flipped with Gibbons on more lineups? You know what I mean? He had eighty percent, too, but he also had like sixty percent or something much higher for tight end flex usage, using it to find that ceiling. Um, you know, it wasn't the case for Frankie. Here was Frankie's winning lineup. Let's just see. Two, twenty three, one sixty three, one sixty three, one fifty nine. So kind of all like in that same range.
But in his big boy lineup, they got the job done and shipped the Mills. It was Bryce Young. Coker with a Burden Bring-BackIn the NFL, a bring-back is usually a wide receiver, tight end or running back from the team facing your quarterback stack.Pick the bring-back who gains the most when his team falls behind. In football that's usually the opponent's top pass catcher, not a running back who loses carries in a comeback.Full explanation ↗. It was the Jets D with Bryce Hall, or sorry, with Brees Hall. Brees Bryce got him the job done. He still played Jameer Gibbs at OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗. He did the double pay up with Bijan. He went to Jefferson, which was a pivot off of Ja'Marr Chase, right? Obviously, and ended up doing much better for that pivot.
And then he still played Mayer with Gibbs, right? Not in the same game, just meaning he played the two very popular guys that made everything that, you know, people were using Mayer to make everything work, which making everything work typically meant getting to Jameer Gibbs. But then a little slice and dice with the Jets D going to Brees Hall.
That's why I wish I could see it down there and on the same spot, but just going down the board, Brees Hall, he played them in the one lineup. Brees Hall, six point eight percent. The Jets D, twenty percent in this tournament. I always call that the slice and dice. It's a way to play the Jets D at popularity, but in a way others aren't.
And if you like that CorrelationCorrelation describes how two players' fantasy scores move together. Positively correlated players tend to have big games at the same time, usually because one player's success directly adds points for the other. When you build a tournament lineup, ask which of your players need the same thing to happen. The more of them that do, the higher your lineup's ceiling.Full explanation ↗ already and it helps you fit everything else, really like this lineup from this perspective. I know it's a higher stakes, smaller field. It doesn't come close to what would have won the five dollar, but that's you're not playing to win the five dollar when you're playing the forty four forty four. So this is the lineup. Anything to add on this one, Belman, as you check it out here with with Frankie's lineup? Couple of things.
I think that's a good example of what you just talked about. It's not who you play, it's how you play them. Like the best plays are the best plays. Normally you want to get exposure to those guys at a high percentage. And it's just about how you play them together.
Also like on that note, this is just NFL DFS it always hurts I played one lineup in that mega million and you know obviously had four not obviously but had four of the same guys in that winning lineup just didn't do clearly didn't do close to enough around those guys and df has the fickle game like the other FadeTo fade a player is to leave him out of your lineups on purpose, usually because you expect him to be popular or you think he is a poor play.Fade with a reason, not a feeling. If you can't say why a popular player will disappoint, you're probably just giving away points.Full explanation ↗ that that lineup we didn't even talk about but who was high owned was a chain you know he was about a quarter owned in that contest you know going to someone like breese hall who you're talking about was massive there so Brees and Jefferson over Chase and Achein really set that lineup apart in my eyes.
Yeah, and that's the thing. So if you look at it from a couple different perspectives too and go back to the slate review, I want to see the hundred dollar Milly Maker as well just to get a difference. But the big factor is always like there's a totally different setup for eight hundred and $32,000 entries than there is for seven hundred fifty than there is for $27,000.
Obviously, when you get similar, you could start to bring stuff across and apply it. But there's a ton of different ways to think about it. Like I wonder, too, this is actually something I want to check out. Don't know if I can search it this way. Yes, I can. So Frankie... Had five lineups in the forty four forty four. And we just saw what they were. I'll remember enough to roughly understand it. So let's just see.
This is the five five max hundred and fifty dollar. See the same lineup doesn't get you the million dollars. It gets you $3,000 one sixty three one sixty three one fifty nine fifty three. So, yes, he just played the exact same five lineups and played them in that five max. That's like whatever it was. However many player or people play in that it was. $3,700 entries instead of seven fifty. And he classified it the same way and played it that way.
So I'm not surprised at that. Are you? No, not at all. It's a fair number, and it's kind of like when you're playing this and other people have... By the way, that's another factor that you have to remember. It's also like what you played and how many others have against you. And with Peter Gibbons having twenty-two and Frankie knowing he can compete with these guys, of course he has forever, but also I'm not going to have as many of those guys.
All right, well then, let's see what I can do with my five. Well, I'm going to play it like it's a $5,000, man, because I'm still going to need to have some... Um, ability to get to the top and overcome those that have twenty two lineups that probably have similarities to me. So how can I get a good lineup that's still unique and different and find my way there? So I just bring that up for that reason.
Let's look at the hundred dollar Milly Maker. But before we do that, Chase Fowler got the so Chase Fowler got a major before Ricky Fowler and got the million dollar prize going. But let's see This one, really good question from Coach Sav. Can we talk about T-Law? Why was he so LeverageLeverage is the edge you gain by rostering a play the field is underweight on, compared with how often it ends up in winning lineups. When that play outscores the popular option most lineups chose instead, you gain ground on those lineups, though the rest of your roster still decides where you finish.Look for leverage on players connected to the chalk, like the other side of a popular game or a teammate who can steal the popular player's touches.Full explanation ↗? I talked about this a little bit on the Sunday Shipper Show yesterday morning, and I think you guys talked about it too, Belman, with the ContrarianA contrarian play or lineup is one built around choices most of the field will not make, such as low-owned players, unpopular teams or an unusual salary structure.Pick one or two contrarian spots per lineup and ground each in a real reason. The rest of the roster can look like the field.Full explanation ↗ Construction Show.
That could have been one because when you got people talking about T-Law and that matchup and everything, and you're a Cleveland guy, so you know about the squads, but the setup was this. People like T-Law or kind of liked him, but then it was like, okay, Parker Washington, but I can't run it back. Who do I run it back with?
I don't really love Fannin or I don't want to know if it's going to be Denzel or I don't know if it's going to be KC Concepcion or whatever these guys' names are. That's the new guys to the league that people know from best ball, but people didn't feel comfortable about setting up that stack.
And even if they weren't on something popular like Detroit New Orleans or where it's like obvious, they were still going to like two, three, and four stacks after that before they got to this one. And really it's funny because is Denzel Boston on your squad there in Cleveland? Is that his name? Yeah, he's the one that caught the late touchdown. He's the one who I remember getting the big touchdown.
But my point being, however you landed on, you could have just went with Lawrence, Dr. Washington, guys you would expect him to do well with, and either not ran it back at all or made your choice on that other side with one of those guys. You could have set that up.
So that's another one, Coach Sav, where you can get away with it, and I'll let you run with it in a second, where you could just – then you can get Gibbs – You can get Bijan. You can get Swift or the Jets D with Brees Hall or whatever you decide to get in there and then still have a decent tight end and maybe not even need Mayer and have a good lineup that plays well in Single-EntryA single-entry contest allows each user exactly one lineup. It can be a cash game or a tournament. In single-entry, one or two contrarian decisions are usually enough. Pair a strong, popular core with a lower-owned piece instead of fading everything the field likes.Full explanation ↗ if that's the spot that you want it to go.
But most people didn't want to go to that spot. Go ahead. So a couple of things. One, yeah, totally right. So that's just the start of it, though. Not only did you not have people wanting to play the Bring-BackIn the NFL, a bring-back is usually a wide receiver, tight end or running back from the team facing your quarterback stack.Pick the bring-back who gains the most when his team falls behind. In football that's usually the opponent's top pass catcher, not a running back who loses carries in a comeback.Full explanation ↗, I think there's a couple other factors in play here. One, low total in the game. Like the Browns, part of the reason people didn't want to run anything back is because the Browns had the lowest total on the slate.
So you didn't really expect much pushback there, which was true. But the other big thing, at least for me, and honestly, this has changed now after just one week, but coming into the season and last year, the Browns defense was, really good. Now, maybe no Mills Garrett has changed that dramatically. Maybe no Jim Schwartz has changed that. But I didn't personally think that, like, even though the Jaguars were big favorites, that he was in some fantastic spot against the healthy Browns defense.
Now, hindsight is is twenty twenty, obviously. And I think that this Browns defense, the loss of Mills Garrett might have been bigger than anyone anticipated. Like Jared versus a good player, Mills Garrett is a generational player. So with the Browns not having an offense that's capable of moving the ball, maybe offenses against this defense that potentially was a lot better last year than they are this year is in play.
But going into the slate yesterday, I personally didn't think that Lawrence was in a great spot for all the things we just talked about. You single one of them out, and certainly you can poke holes in it. But when you talk about them all together, I didn't think he was a great play on paper personally. Yeah, I want to say another thing too, though. I don't disagree with any of that. I think you nailed it.
But just noting as well, another way to reverse engineer something like that and think about it is – Like if you weren't on Joe Burrow, Jamar, totally different game. I know I'm explaining the concept though, but if you weren't on Joe Burrow and you weren't on Ja'Marr Chase and you weren't on Higgins, but you still thought they were going to put up points, then why wouldn't you play like Chase Brown in the defense? You know what I mean?
So the inverse of that is, is if you weren't on the Jags D yesterday, by the way, who are extremely popular, and you didn't think that the Jags D were going to be the ones putting them in the position and closing down that back and forth of the possibility of that, then why not go the other way when you knew Trevor Lawrence could be there?
If it doesn't go that way, and by the way, the Jags D did just fine, from a fantasy point scoring perspective, but just noting it, It's like if you thought that, then you almost got to think something else is going to happen in that game or what else happens. But if you weren't on the Jags D, you could have thought to be on the passing attack instead. Just another way to think about it there.
I've got the hundred dollar Milly on the screen there. Now I'm going to pull up actually, just so you can see a better job of it. The man chase Fowler, I'll let you run through his lineup. I'm looking at a couple more things on here. Someone else said, yeah, T law Parker Strange with no Bring-BackIn the NFL, a bring-back is usually a wide receiver, tight end or running back from the team facing your quarterback stack.Pick the bring-back who gains the most when his team falls behind. In football that's usually the opponent's top pass catcher, not a running back who loses carries in a comeback.Full explanation ↗. There was a couple of ways to get to it and you could have got away with it.
But again, I don't know if you would've got all the way there, but I just saw it too. Yeah. So we'll go through it. But Gibbons made the run in this one as well, but this is chase Fowler's lineup. It starts here in the middle, if you're looking at it, Belman, but it's Shuck, Olave, Ville, Johnson, Gibbs run back. Then it's just got Bijan, Coker, the Raiders, and Jefferson. Spends the full five, $50,000 ships. It's like, man, what's wrong with that?
It's just like memory. You know what I mean? And they, and also like the, the, the Saints did nothing. Until third quarter, late third quarter, whatever, and just still gets all the way there in the end. So, I mean, this happens, that's part of the game, but give us your thoughts on this lineup. I think it's just, you know, look really solid. I want to see a few more things, but it looks really solid overall.
You literally took the words right out of my brain. It's not even about my, the lineup itself. My first thought, my first thoughts are, my first thoughts are don't count your, your chickens before they hatch and vice versa. Like, People love to tilt, but sometimes the points come late. And this is a great example of that in a bunch of spots here. Juwan Johnson had a zero going into the fourth quarter, I'm pretty sure. Ended up with a decent score. Obviously, that game goes to overtime.
Shucked through for over .三 in the second half. Jefferson catches the late touchdown. As far as the lineup itself, I mean, it's put together really well. You've got a... Heavy, heavy Saints stack with just one run back from Detroit, the guy who did mostly everything. Amon Ra was very good, not great, considering some other scores on the slate at his price tag. Obviously, he was much better than Chase, but clearly he wasn't needed. Gibbs was.
He was able to afford Bijan, who I talked about a bunch yesterday, thought was going to be lower on than he should be because he's phenomenal. And the Steelers defense is good, not great, in my opinion. And Bijan kind of just did his thing. We already talked about Justin Jefferson. I saw Olave had more receiving yards than like ten teams in the league yesterday, so he's just an awesome wideout. Vele got there late also with a couple really nice catches, caught a score.
Just a really well-put-together lineup. A lot of people talked about this game, but I don't think a lot of people played it with four Saints and one Lions. Yeah, well, that's exactly it. So I said, I also would like the OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗ on here, but it's just noting it. When you go up, you can see it. I just got to dig a little bit, but like what, this is another thing, like I wish I could find it quickly, but like Vele.
In a game they lost, the Saints lost this game and it was a four, one stack. Just putting that out there. He got to eleven percent, it looks like. So, yeah, just was curious what some of the owners. But anyway, had a lot of these guys up top that you saw there. And this was a one fifty set for Chase Fowler. So really nice overall big time player pool around the board and a lot of different stack combos you can see here.
But it's crazy. The delta of the difference, like one hundred fifty lineups. It takes two forty four to win and one hundred and forty nine die with like barely like get small Min-CashA min-cash is the smallest prize in a contest, earned by finishing just inside the paid places. In tournaments it is usually a small multiple of the entry fee.Do not judge a tournament slate by how many lineups min-cashed. Track your top finishes, since that is where tournament profit actually comes from.Full explanation ↗ and stuff like that. But it's not what he's in it for. Obviously, he got the whole shipper. So, again, congrats to Chase Fowler. But one night, like it's such a crazy deal, like forty five points up and over. And that's what you need to have. You've got to have that one outlier.
That's why you're building a portfolio like that. So I think that's key. This is my favorite, though, going back to F.J. Bourne. He just posted this, and if you know him, you know him, and he wins. That was his post when he won the Mills. So he doesn't post the screenshot or anything. He actually takes time out to go and post this, and this is what I wanted to show, why I just love this guy for being super honest and going off.
It took all the way to the fourth quarter, a lot of people chiming in across the industry, all-time chart, all sports. He says, yeah, all sports. Andrew Ma says, this is sick that you survived to realize this event. And this goes back to what we talked about staying in the game. For those that don't know what this is, this is eight hundred and eleven days played.
So if you think like a bad Sunday happened, that's why I said I don't even get like I'm not even emotionally attached. I'm disappointed some. So I shouldn't say I'm not I'm not emotionally detached, but it's like or attached. But it's like it means nothing. We play this game forever. This is the whole point. So it's like we're hoping to play forever. So it's like eight hundred and eleven days played. Like, what happens here? This is, by the way, the numbers.
And he's putting it public, so I hope he doesn't mind making a bigger deal of it. But I love that he does. People will show this off, but it's like, look at this. Started here. Got as low as one million. Look at this thing. You go down almost seven hundred $50,000. You finally get a smash run right over the over a year, really like less than a year, obviously, like what is this? A year is here at the bottom, twenty four to twenty fifth.
So three months in, you're like, man, I'm climbing out of that seven hundred $600,000 hole. I'm back to only being down about a quarter mil. Things are all going to turn around now. No, they're absolutely not. You're going to drop another seven hundred $50,000 almost and be down almost a mil. Nothing goes your way. We're another we're a year removed. So this moment of like being down, coming back, I'm emphasizing it for good reason.
But like you come all the way back thinking you're going to get it turned around. And then over the next nine months, you go down the same downswing again that you already just went on. Life sucks. You come back up little, down, up, down, up, down, boom, boom. Oh, something's turning. Nope. Bang. All right. Something got to go my way. Yes. All right. Down a little. Something got to go my way. Okay. Boom. All right. May's kind of good. I like May.
Maybe we should stick with this game. Ramp. Boom. Oh, And then bang, a million dollars and you're up two hundred and $50,000. Shout out to Frankie A for sharing this B for showing what a sick game this is. But just D or ABC. I got to get my ABCs right. I can't get that done. But, you know, see, just just for letting people know what it's actually like and then to understand how this can actually work.
And then hopefully you just go on a sunrun, my friend. But congrats to you for, as the guy said below, for sticking with this to survive and even realize this. Massive congrats for the win, but also I'm with you. I don't think it can be understated like the, I don't even know the word I have for it.
And I'm not at a loss for words often, but I applaud him for putting this out there because it shows just what a lot of people go through. Maybe not on that scale that people don't want to talk about because people only want to see the good side about it. So I really applaud him for doing that. You got to have Bankroll ManagementBankroll management is how you size your DFS spending relative to the money you have set aside to play, called your bankroll, so normal losing streaks do not wipe you out.Write down your per-slate limit before the season starts. Spending rules are much easier to keep when you set them before a losing streak, not during one.Full explanation ↗ too, though. Like that's bad. It really, I'm glad we ended on this because it tied everything to go through it all.
That's his bankroll. That that's what I mean. He, you know, to have the ability that he can go through that run and stick with it. It's, it's way more to me about the mindset. I mean, the financial is he's a skilled DFS player. He's been doing it a lot longer than $2,000 twenty four, by the way. I've met him years ago, multiple live finals, all that stuff. And that's why I shut him out right away.
But it's like the end of the day, it just shows the grind. But you cannot be there to find that million dollar score and get your way all the way out. If. You don't have control over your bankroll, but more importantly, have control over your mind. So think about that. BG Little, it's not about even like this when people hate on pros and discords and stuff, it happens, but just know it's not even about that.
It's when someone's talking about yesterday's result, like it's not being rude and even using the sign. If you're not in it for the grind, like somebody said, Abyssal, I love the grind, said, that's awesome. What a grind. If you're not in it for that, just be quiet. Not rudely, just factually. It's like, just probably don't say nothing. It's like the age old Golden rule. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
These people and some people out there are playing through million dollar downswings and you think they suck? No, it's part of the game, man. It's battling back to be able to find it. But if you don't love the grind, you shouldn't be out there playing and talking shit about other people. And don't tell me about one bad day. Yesterday. Like I said, I had a horrible day yesterday. Who cares? We're on to tonight. There's a slate ahead.
Nades and I used to always say when we'd start the show, we started recording the show. Nades will be back, by the way, guys, for other episodes as well. Belman's going to be helping me out a ton. This is going to be a nice little crew we got going. Maybe we'll do some three-man booths for some, but we want to keep it kind of to an hour and just roll it out there and give you the basics.
But I will say the mindset, the mantra, the Monday motivation, if you will. Ship It Nation motivation, Matt. That's really the key I want you to take away. It's talking about a day about yesterday. It's like, it's not over yet. Week one is even over. You could have lost on Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday. And Sunday night, and you can still be, you can win five hundred grand tonight. And I promise you, you won't worry about any losses at any given moment when that happens.
So it can always be that there's always a new slate in front of you. Why not me? One day mentality. I will say, too, if you guys haven't checked out DFS Mastermind dot com, we did revamp it. It's fully renewed, ready to go. You can check it out. But inside, I'm just trying to find it here if I can. I might not be logged in. Let me do it this way, and then I'll show you guys.
I'm an admin, so it's going to make me actually do it. But there was a great quote. If you go to the interviews here, I love this one. There's a lot of great interviews. Shalhoub, who just got fourth in the Mills. Blickle's on there. Hamhawk, who made a run in Showdown last night and crushes the college football streets. My man Belman, who's on here with me now, has his whole interview breaking stuff down. But there was one, the Mish. All these are just such good people.
Neil Orfield, but Hines. Hybes had it right here. And it was so awesome in that interview. I'm not going to pull it up and play it, but it says, all it takes is one. All it takes is one good day to get right and turn things around. And for our man, Frankie Bourne, who got the job done in the Mega Milly, was posting it out with this whole Bankroll ManagementBankroll management is how you size your DFS spending relative to the money you have set aside to play, called your bankroll, so normal losing streaks do not wipe you out.Write down your per-slate limit before the season starts. Spending rules are much easier to keep when you set them before a losing streak, not during one.Full explanation ↗ and whole tracker there.
That was his, you know, right now that's his one good day over the last two, eight hundred and eleven days over two years, Matt, that he found his one good day and he got it all back and then some. And now hopefully he goes on the sun run and gets on the heater and does it the other way.
But it's really cool to see when when people post that stuff out and give a little bit of behind the scenes at the highest stakes as well. Anything else to add there? No, I think you said it beautifully, man. Yeah, just applaud him all around for the great score, the way he handled it, and the post after. So big day for him, and ours is coming soon. Oh, you bet. That's what I mean.
That's how you got to think about it too. This is another one too. I'll show a mastermind. I'm not going to go play the clip, but just noting it, our guy, Kenny W, this is another thing that's just unheard of. You'll see on there it's blurry, but it's got his ROI. You see the green areas. This is by month. This was an incredible video. And now again, this is why the vault is so cool over at DFS Mastermind.
But if you check it out, it's called DFS goals, Kenny shows Kenny W. Seventeen thirty two. He's been to all the live finals. I was at the golf one with him. He won the MMA live final. He was at the baseball one just after that. He's been through it all. But he shows his full twenty twenty five DFS. You kind of like what Frankie showed off and over three million in entries fees. He plays the nosebleed stakes across everything.
And he showed exactly his entire PNL performance.
Leaks in his game all that you just can't this is why I say this is content you can't everyone's like oh I'm gonna use chat gbt to find out about DFS matt like all this stuff and you're not gonna find out this stuff these are real life experiences stuff you can't get on YouTube you can't get on anywhere that there's nothing you're gonna find like this and if you're not yet a Ship It Nation member I should note the early bird special is still on but if you are a all-access starter or ultimate member.
Like you can buy these at SaberSim.com. We're partnered with them. So they allow us to get them out there for a little bit of a price, but it's with our stuff included. One-nineteen annually or one-forty-nine a month. It's like getting Ship It Nation for forty-nine dollars. But with the annual plan for both starter and ultimate, you get the entire DFS Mastermind Method lifetime package for free.
So if you are trying to work on your game and check this type of stuff out, this is the way to go about it. Matt, any final thoughts from you before we get out of here, man? I think this is a good first show. Yeah, always a fun show. Hopefully, like I just said, we have more to talk about next week as far as our own takedowns go. Yeah, I would love that. We can start tonight, man. We got Denver, Kansas City.
Just one hour from now, Hoop, Tidal, and myself will be back for Showdown Shippers right here on the Ship It Nation YouTube station. Make sure you're subscribed. All of our shows are free. We don't have any Saturday, member-only hidden shows, this, that, and the other. We talk about this all the time. We've tried some of them in the past, but the best method for us has been to be able to give you guys the goods for free.
And then if you want everything that we offer on the site, it's all simplified. You can simplify your stack. If I go back to the top, you can see it a little better here, but you've got the projections and OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗. You got the stone and the Stone 2.0 point oh, the full Slate Station, the value report. And then for showdown, it's the exact same thing. It's the projections and ownership, the showdown stones and the Slate Station. You get SaberSim.
If you go with SaberSim, we've got tutorials. We've got the Saber series breaking down how to use it. And if you want to see a Slate Station for like showdown from tonight, what you would see. It's got the cores up there. If you just don't have time, you want to follow what we're doing. And then it's got the showdown tower. Our guy BG Little Neck was here in the chat earlier.
You could see the captains, the quarterbacks, the running backs, the wide receivers, the tight ends, the kickers, all color coded. And then it tells you right in the colors exactly what they mean. So if you say, hey, I got some of those top plays like a Gibbs in there yesterday on the main slate and I need some separators now, boom. Just let me see who the separators are. And there was two yesterday. And so we show them a captain and not a captain.
So you see that. But Ryan, again, not about the result, just showing you how you can use it as ways to get different. Top play, Jaxson Dart. Yeah, thirty nine points in the captain buried my hopes and dreams on FFC WCW number one WC. But I will say we got some battles tonight that we're going to get back to. So. Appreciate you guys. Thank you to Matt. Thank you to all for watching. Hopefully this was helpful. Hit the thumbs up.
Leave a comment if you have any thoughts, reflection, things you want for the future. That's going to do it for this one, guys. From Matt, from myself, ToeTag, and Tambo, good luck in your contest this week. Let's ship it!
