From the archive. This breakdown is for the Friday, October 30 NBA slate. Salaries, weather and picks were for that day.
Latest NBA show →Ryan Davenport and Rio Turner break down Friday's eight-game NBA Cup slate, where point differential could extend starter minutes through blowouts. Jayson Tatum ($9,800) gets a top-play endorsement against Chicago's poor defense, while Giannis Antetokounmpo attacks Indiana's depleted rim protection. Indiana at Miami is the preferred game environment, and Houston at Dallas also draws strong interest. Sengun's questionable status makes preserving late-swap flexibility particularly important.
Pelle Larsson ($4,500) stands out for starter-like bench minutes and increased handling, with Aaron Nesmith another preferred value now off his minutes restriction. Minnesota's inexpensive pieces remain attractive without Anthony Edwards, but multi-entry builds should use at most two of Dosunmu, Kuminga and Shannon. Cade Cunningham and Cooper Flagg are overweight targets at low ownership; Durant also offers tournament appeal. LeBron benefits substantially if Jaylen Brown sits.
| Play | Call | The Take | At |
|---|---|---|---|
| Still belongs in the player pool after the benching, but $7,000 looks close to his maximum appropriate price. | 6:26 | ||
| VALUE | Reasonably priced at $5,300, with 35 to 36 minutes possible in a close game and rebounding providing the path to production. | 6:44 | |
| CHALK | Drawing some ownership at $5,100, without an additional recommendation. | 7:02 | |
| Would become more interesting if Tre Johnson misses because additional minutes would open up. | 7:26 | ||
| ONE-OFF | Can exploit Philadelphia's pick-and-roll defense and Embiid's drop coverage, but use at most one of Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns. | 11:18 | |
| FADE | Cannot justify playing him while Landry Shamet is outperforming him and taking his minutes. | 12:02 | |
| LEVERAGE | Can enter the player pool as low-owned value at $4,200 because his play is earning more minutes. | 12:02 | |
| ONE-OFF | Ranks ahead of Embiid and Maxey as Philadelphia's best play with Jaylen Brown expected to sit and usage opening up. | 12:39 | |
| FADE | Not guaranteed the backup role, and reproducing his previous big game would require too many things to break perfectly. | 13:07 | |
| VALUE | His 38 minutes last game provide the opportunity needed at his price despite the disappointing box score. | 15:34 |
Clear your liftoff. What's going on, Ship It Nation YouTube station? We are back with an NBA Cup edition of the NBA show. It's your boy Ham each and every Friday. And I got my guy in Hebrew Cheetah filling in for our guy Belman. So Hebrew Cheetah, certainly appreciate you filling in today. Appreciate everyone out of there. There's fifty of you in here already. Do us a favor. Hit that like hit that subscribe button. It is the NBA Cup. Rio, it is eight games.
We've got some – I'd call them pretty big injuries to go through. We'll get through those as we go game by game. But I'll bring you in. First, I appreciate you hopping in and what's going on, man. How was your week? Week's been good. Obviously busy with the NBA stuff going on. Football's still in the midseason right now. A ton of injury stuff going on in the NBA.
I was actually listening to a pretty cool podcast this morning talking about the injuries in the NBA because it's probably the most we've ever had at this point in the season. I think on Wednesday it was something like fifteen or eighteen percent of the NBA was either questionable or out, which is just a crazy number early on in the season. That's on The Athletic, if anybody wants to listen to that one. It was really good.
But, yeah, filling in for our guy, Matt, today. He'll be back hopefully next week. And we get a – the next month, every Friday for the next month, will be NBA Cup. And then a couple Tuesdays and Wednesdays will be – we'll have some more NBA Cup games. But, yeah, spring's a different dynamic, as we've seen, over the past few seasons when they added the NBA Cup.
Teams are going to be playing a lot – deeper into games, even in blowouts, because of the point differential, things like that. So it definitely brings a different wrinkle to the DFS game for NBA. Yeah, looking forward to breaking it all down with each and every one of you in there as well. I am Rice. Michael with the Brew Crew. Michael's always in here. Appreciate you tuning in. Newins in the house. There's Newins. BG Little Neck. Parabay. Coach Sav been balling. NY Stiegel.
I do love the thumbnail, Newins. We got my guy, the Greek Freak, on there. Parabay. Uh, and go space kicker. What's going on? How you doing? I saw somebody mentioned our girl, uh, Nika in the chat as well. Nika turned, uh, I'll call it five dollars. Could be seven hundred fifty. You name it. Hit $100,000 the other day and she's going to donate three hundred grand back. Which is just more than kind of Nika. So appreciate that.
If you aren't a member at the nation, head over there for now. We're giving away over $50,000 in cash and prizes at the end of the season. So make sure you head on over there now. You've got to be in the NFL or the season long content for that to get in. So just to clarify, you said you said three hundred grand. You mean three grand, right? Three. Hold on. No, three grand, three grand, not three hundred grand. Yes, three.
Get an extra two hundred thousand. We don't know about. No, I wish that'd be a big baller brand, but no, a three grand on top of that. So I think it's right around $53,000 that are that that we're giving away in cash and prizes at the end of the season. So. I think I actually messed that all up. She's getting like $3,000 this week. So just head on over there and get in the NFL.
It's $3,000 this week, but there is $50,000 at the end of the season. That's right, Rio. Correct. Yeah. Sounds about right. I mean, there we go. All right. Ham's. I don't know what that means. Pitching in $2,000 nine hundred ninety seven. All right. In any event, we're going to go game by game. I got the stone pulled up over here. First game up on the SlateA slate in DFS is the set of games, races, fights or tournament rounds covered by a contest. Can Nasri get forty eight tonight? We'll see. Taking on this new look. Wizards team. Trey Young, A.D., AD, you've been kind of up and down this year, Rio. So, Conca Nipple still out. Kobe White still out for the Hornets as well. Talk to me through this game. Hornets at the Wizards. Yeah, so these teams did play earlier this week. I believe it was on Monday or Tuesday. I'd have to double-check that. But, yeah, it was a pretty exciting game. I saw a huge outing from Brandon Miller.
Thirty-nine points in that game just continues to have a dominant usage role for this team. Sounds like Khan should be back pretty soon, and Kobe as well. I think Khan is currently in the G League right now, so doing a little bit of rehab. So he should be back hopefully sometime next week. Yeah, these two teams don't really play with a ton of pace. The Hornets are bottom two in pace. They have really good rebounding.
I don't think this is the most appealing game from an environment standpoint. Vegas kind of agrees. It's two nineteen over under, which is probably the lowest on the SlateA slate in DFS is the set of games, races, fights or tournament rounds covered by a contest. It determines which events your player selections can come from and which performances count toward your score. Before building, open the contest details and check the included events, scoring period and lock rules. Do not assume two sites offer identical slates just because both call them the main slate.Read the full definition of Slate. I think by a good margin, that's probably the lowest one on the slate. But the thing that does kind of bring me to getting around to this game a little bit more, mainly on the Charlotte side, is just a one-point spread in favor of Charlotte. So that's interesting. But it was a coin flip earlier today.
So if there's one game that has a chance to get extra minutes going into overtime, it would be this one. And you kind of know where the points are coming from on each team. It's a little bit tougher now with A.J. DeBansa back for Washington because it's going to be a lot more spread out now, just a guy that does dominate the ball a little bit and have pretty high Usage RateUsage rate estimates the percentage of a team's offensive plays a player uses while on the court, based on shot attempts, free throw attempts and turnovers. It does not measure assists or time spent holding the ball.Check who shared the floor in any usage sample. Numbers collected against reserves or with several starters missing may not describe the role you are projecting tonight.Read the full definition of Usage Rate. But the Hornets side, you're considering Brandon Miller.
I still think that he's totally fine at this price tag, seven point $8,000, really good. Just like I said, really, really good usage role. He's going to take a ton of shots and really has not even been all that efficient. So if you come around to one of the games, where he is shooting the ball more efficiently could really pop off in a bigger way than we've seen so far. So like Miller, I'm still kind of iffy on Nas.
He got benched last game in the second half. I don't think he played at all. Maybe he did a little bit, but I know that he did not start the second half. And, I mean, he was just taking some dumb shots early in the first half, and the head coach just decided to sit him. A lot of people can bring up the conspiracies about Vegas and the betting lines and all that stuff, but I think it was just he was playing really bad.
Should be fine, though. I think he'll be back in the starting lineup, and he was solid in that game against Washington, eighteen and twelve. I don't know if this is going to be the slate for him. I'm fine keeping him in the Player PoolA player pool is the set of players you consider using in your DFS lineups for a slate, the games or events included in a contest. The term can also mean everyone available to select in that contest.Keep a replacement beside each uncertain player, noting the salary and position you need. Recheck those alternatives when news changes so your shortlist still produces usable lineups.Read the full definition of Player Pool, but I think we're starting to get, like, at $7,000, he's probably priced to the maximum that he should be. You can make a case for Schroeder on a slate.
I think there's going to be better values, but he does have a really good role over seven minutes of touch time per game this season. Not really a ton to show for it in the box score, but he does have a really good matchup against Trae Young. And then I'll continue to beat the drum for Moussa Diabate. I think at five point $3,000, it's a very reasonable price for him. He's going to play a ton.
And a close game, thirty five, thirty six minutes is definitely within the wheelhouse for him. And you're really just hoping for a really solid rebounding game, which he did against Washington. So with the about a. Grayson Allen, get a little bit of OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Read the full definition of Ownership at five point $1,000. Nothing really to add there. Washington side, I think it's closer to a say away. Don't really want to invest too much on this side of things with a fully healthy squad, especially Trey Johnson's back.
Like Keyshawn George would be a guy I have most interest in if Trey were to miss. But I think he should be back tonight. So questionable. So we'll see about that. If Trey is out, then it would open up more minutes for Keyshawn George. But yeah, there's just only one ball to go around and a bunch of high usage guys. I'm kind of away, staying away from the Washington side. I think it's a max one there, max two Charlotte, but I'd rather wait for these later games.
There's some big Injury NewsInjury news is information about a player's health that can change whether they compete, how much they play or how effectively they perform. Yeah, excellent stuff there. And I failed to mention, this is another one of those slates that I kind of like. You got eight games on the front end. DK did not include those late two games. So, you know, everybody's going to be off the starting blocks within the hour. So good stuff there, Rio. We'll go over to our next game. And it's a rematch of the opening night, but this time, It's in the Illidelf. We got the Knicks taking on the Seventy Sixers. I believe everybody is in play tonight. I got Carl Anthony Towns is questionable. I got J.B. Jalen Brown is questionable as well. And then nobody of I'll call real. Jose Alvarado is the only one that I'm showing is out.
Not going to make much difference to me, but interested in to get your thoughts on this day. This game. Talk to me. New York at Philadelphia. Yeah, so Kat was just downgraded to probable, should be fine. And then Jalen Brown was downgraded to doubtful. He was questionable earlier today, but he's doubtful. So more than likely going to sit. I'm trying to see if we have on the Usage RateUsage rate estimates the percentage of a team's offensive plays a player uses while on the court, based on shot attempts, free throw attempts and turnovers. It does not measure assists or time spent holding the ball.Check who shared the floor in any usage sample. Numbers collected against reserves or with several starters missing may not describe the role you are projecting tonight.Read the full definition of Usage Rate tool. It looks like we already took Jalen Brown. Oh, actually, never mind.
Do you want to pull that up? I don't know if you can get over to it. Oh, you already have it. Yeah, I can get over. What did we go to? The usage bump? Yeah, usage bump tool. Just so we can get an idea of what this is going to look like when you take Jen Brown out. If we go to the New York-Philly games, it should be the second one on the top left. Yep. And then go to – sorry, go to what if.
A little bit higher up. Scroll up a little bit. Yeah, what if right there. And then sort by the Philly side. Yeah, we already have JB out, don't we?
Okay you can actually so if you want to unclick or click his name again so we can bring him in and then you can see what is going to change but you see we got you know pretty even usage and drafting points across the board and if you want to click him out we can see that everybody sees a boost but lebron looks a whole lot better I mean he sees a really really big bump in usage here I'm really pretty high on
The six or stuff tonight just because you're getting rid of one guy that dominate the ball a ton and the usage was has been really spread spread out for them so far now you're probably going to see close to thirty percent from mb and maxi and then the assist rate and everything else for lebron probably comes up a little bit the downside of this game as a whole is that these are two defensive-minded teams surprisingly the uh Sixers have been really good on defense this year Could be an opponent's thing, but they're just playing good team defense.
Definitely taking Jalen Brown out of the lineup, I think could help the Knicks offensively. And yeah, I think that this is two condensed teams rotation wise that we could get some fireworks from. The Knicks side, you really got to hope for foul trouble or for Cat to stay out of foul trouble because we were pretty high on him opening night and then, you know, did exactly what Cat does, ran into two fouls in like the first two or three minutes.
Was honestly great from a per minute standpoint, forty two and a half Fantasy PointsNBA fantasy points convert a player's box score into a DFS score, including points scored, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks and turnovers. His basketball point total is only one part of his fantasy production. Before trusting an average, check which games it includes and whether the player's role has changed. Separate repeatable opportunities from a few unusually productive games.Read the full definition of Fantasy Points in just twenty four minutes in that game. So I think that he's got the edge here offensively. I don't really think that Embiid or anybody else that they're going to be putting on him is going to be able to stop him averaging just over forty five DK points per game in the NBA Cup as well.
Brunson got a little shut down by BJ in the opener, but I think mainly that was rust because he looks fully back now. Great matchup last time out versus the Bulls, about thirty points that one. And I actually do think this is a pretty good matchup for him here, though. The pick and roll defense for the Sixers is a weak point for them. And B does play a lot of drop coverage. I think that it could be a spot that Brunson can exploit here.
And he should be up around like thirty six, thirty seven minutes in the close game. So I'm good with either one of those two guys. Probably going to be a max one. And then between the secondary option, I mean, I just don't see how you click Mikkel Bridges right now. He's getting benched for Landry Shamit. And I actually think that Shamit's just been overall better than him. Like, I wouldn't be surprised. I don't think they're going to flip the starting unit at all.
But Shamit's probably going to be playing more on a night-to-night basis just with how well he's played and what you get from him, which is a three and D guy, which is what they were hoping to get from McHale. So I can't click McHale. I think you could add Landry Shamit to a pool at four point $2,000 for some low on value.
But it's going to be Josh Harden O.G., Josh Hart is hitting more builds with the shooting guard small forward eligibility, but I'm still going to side with OG every night. I just think that the upside is much better for him. Sixers side of the thing, you're really just considering Embiid, Maxine, LeBron. I guess Vijay at five point $9,000 is worth keeping in a Player PoolA player pool is the set of players you consider using in your DFS lineups for a slate, the games or events included in a contest. The term can also mean everyone available to select in that contest.Keep a replacement beside each uncertain player, noting the salary and position you need. But I don't think that it's going to be Dean Wade, actually.
So, yeah, it's just LeBron, Maxine, Embiid. And I would rank it LeBron, Embiid, then Maxie. But LeBron is kind of clear, clear and far and away the best play on the Sixers now with Jalen Brown out. I just think that we could see a really, really good game for LeBron. If you were doing one fifty or how many teams if you were doing like what you want any of Andre Drummond? I mean, just think about the game one where he ate.
Would you have any interest in him or not? I mean, no, no, zero. He's not even guaranteed to be the backup every single night. Mike Brown doesn't necessarily like anybody that they have behind him. They're running out James Wiseman a little bit. It's just you're asking for way too much, like the perfect outcome for a guy like Drummond. I don't even think that he's done anything close to what he did the last time that we saw these two teams face off.
Yeah, he hasn't. Yeah, he's going to get a ton of rebounds, but he ran so hot in that game. You can't really buy into that type of thing. Okay, good deal. Next game up on the SlateA slate in DFS is the set of games, races, fights or tournament rounds covered by a contest. Do not assume two sites offer identical slates just because both call them the main slate.Read the full definition of Slate are these Detroit Pistons taking on the Brooklyn Nets. No Jalen Duren for the Pistons. So talk to me a little bit about this game. You know, my saying last year, Rio, never the Nets, but has that changed?
Mikael Brown, he was getting a lot of pub in the Discord the other night against, I think they were playing the Seas. But talk to me about this game, Pistons at the Nets. Yeah, I think the Pistons side looks really good here. Really good spot for them offensively. Brooklyn is bottom four in defense this season, giving up the second highest three-point frequency so far this season.
So I guess that there's a chance that Brooklyn could hang around because Detroit is not the most formidable opponent when it comes to being a three-point shooting team. I really like the spot for Cade, Paul Reed, and Asar for different reasons. The Nets have continued to be a team that's taking away lead handlers. They're going to trap Cade a ton here, so that could lead to some secondary playmaking for guys like Asar and Paul Reed.
But yeah, they're giving up some size down low, just not really a great rebounding team. They have been better than they were last year. Pistons have been worse. But they're still top four in defense, the Pistons are. So I think this can be a somewhat of a lower scoring game, but I could see the Fantasy PointsNBA fantasy points convert a player's box score into a DFS score, including points scored, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks and turnovers. His basketball point total is only one part of his fantasy production. Before trusting an average, check which games it includes and whether the player's role has changed. Separate repeatable opportunities from a few unusually productive games.Read the full definition of Fantasy Points really condensing on a couple of these players. Yeah, Cade, like I said, at nine point $6,000, this is probably the first time I've really been higher on him than the field.
But it's just been really, really solid numbers for Cade against the Nets. And, you know, you can't really apply what happened last year to this year. But the Nets basically have the same roster outside of Julius Randle. They're running the same exact defensive schemes. And he was averaging fifty three and a half points per game against the Nets last season. And that was in like twenty eight minutes a game, something like that.
I think there's a better chance that the Nets can hang around here because they overall look like a better roster.
Just more talent like they're able if they were able to hang around the Celtics I think they can hang around the Pistons but yeah I do I do think kade is a really really solid spin up here at nine point $6,000 paul reed was on play thirty eight minutes last game wasn't great uh from the in the box score but all you can ask for for a guy price at that that spot right there in a what should be a pretty good matchup hasn't been so far this season but I think it is going to be a better matchup moving forward and then Asari, I think, looks pretty solid here.
I think they'll use him a little bit more as a handler. He's kind of talked about being more aggressive on offense, really close to the big stat line. Last game out, close to a Triple-Double BonusThe triple-double bonus is extra fantasy scoring for recording at least 10 in three categories: points, rebounds, assists, steals or blocks. In DraftKings NBA Classic, it adds 3 points on top of the player's statistical scoring and double-double bonus.Check how often a player reaches all three thresholds in the same game under a similar role. Separate averages for points, rebounds and assists can overstate the likelihood.Read the full definition of Triple-Double Bonus. We haven't really seen a huge gain from him yet, I think if he does get a little bit more secondary playmaking, that could happen tonight.
It looks like Isaiah Joe is out tonight, so that's actually kind of big for a guy like Duncan Robinson in a really good matchup. The Nets have been giving up a ton of threes this season, so he's kind of the guy that I was looking to early on before Isaiah Joe got ruled out. And definitely a good spot if you want to bet his overs.
I bet he's probably at like three and a half because he's been taking a ton, but I think this is a pretty good spot for him. On the Nets side... I want to see what they do with the starting lineup because Yegor Demin is out tonight and that's going to really, you pretty much have like two or three guys that are going to be handling the ball tonight. It depends who they start. This would be the perfect time to get Michael Brown Jr.
Into the mix as a starter, but I think that they go with Traore and Keon Ellis. We'll have to see. Just wait and see. This is another spot I'd want to wait on instead of getting too into the first game because I think that Michael Brown Jr., this is probably the best time to unleash him in an NBA Cup game and a tough opponent. He looked really good in that game against the Celtics.
Obviously, he had a couple bonehead plays that cost him the game, but Yeah, we'll just have to see. He has been on a minute's limit so far, which is kind of crazy for a young guy, but had over eight minutes of touch time in that game against Boston filling in for Demond. So that was a really, really solid role for him. Randall is the guy that's seen the biggest Usage RateUsage rate estimates the percentage of a team's offensive plays a player uses while on the court, based on shot attempts, free throw attempts and turnovers. Don't love the matchup as a guy that's kind of needing to score inside, but he could fill up the stat sheet a little bit better for MPJ, who's scoring around the perimeter. He has really been pretty solid this year. And then Traore, if he's starting, I think is fine. I wouldn't really want to get into him at chalk though. Cause I just don't think he's that great of a play. I think there's better cheap options tonight.
So yeah, I'm kind of interested in what happens with the starting unit, but I want it to be Michael Brown jr. Don't don't say this is the same Brooklyn Nets team Rio. We got my boy Mo Wagner coming over from Orlando. So it's a new look, new look Nets with my boy Mo Wagner. Um, What did you say, Max, one of Brunson and Towns going back to the Knicks game real quick? Yeah, that's how I'll be running it. Yeah. What's going on, Rob?
Nice to see you in here. Good stuff, Rio. Excellent break down there. Next game up on the SlateA slate in DFS is the set of games, races, fights or tournament rounds covered by a contest. Orlando Magic, north of the border. Interested to get your take on this one, Rio. We got two teams. I'm not going to say struggling, but without Kawhi, I think that obviously hurts a little bit. No Jalen Suggs. No Paolo Bancaro is the other big news in this one. So got some studs missing tonight.
But talk to me how you handle this game, Orlando at Toronto. Yeah, I don't want to spend a ton of time on this game because we just saw these teams face off, and my thoughts are pretty much the exact same as last time they played, which I think was on Wednesday. I'd have to double-check. Yeah, both teams still pretty defensive-minded. Toronto looks fine without Kawhi. They've still been playing really good defense, although they haven't really played a ton of great offensive opponents.
But, yeah, who I'm looking to on the Orlando side, I still prefer Franz over Bain. Bain is going to get a lot more OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. I don't see the upside for him. The numbers say that he should be a really good play, but I just think that Franz provides more peripheral upside than a guy like Bain.
Also get to some Bain, but I think I had him at like twelve percent last week or earlier this week when they played. I'd want to get heavier on Franz, especially if he's going to be lower owned. And then Anthony Black.
I don't know probably not for me I did like him last week I think it was a Slate SizeSlate size is the number of games or matchups included in a DFS contest's schedule. Twenty six percent Usage RateUsage rate estimates the percentage of a team's offensive plays a player uses while on the court, based on shot attempts, free throw attempts and turnovers. Really good against a team that doesn't have a ton of room protection. And then quickly, I think is solid. Now he was at like six point eight, six point $9,000 in their first game without Kawhi. Now down to six point five. I think that's a fair price tag. Shot it pretty poorly, but still the role is good for him. And then Jacoby Walter, I'll continue to play him.
Lost minutes again due to blowout, but was really good from a permanent standpoint. Just think that he provides a lot of what the Raptors need with Kawhi out, three and D type of guy. I think that he's a really solid option. Yeah, excellent stuff there. Nice breakdown on that game. Not going to spend too much on it, as you alluded to. That'll take us into the next game. Good old-fashioned rivalry.
The Bulls, the Celtics, I'm worried about some blowout risk in this one, Rio. Fifteen and a half points spread. This Bulls team, Caleb Wilson does look just very good as a rookie. Former Brooklyn net great Nick Claxton yet to make his season debut. So he's out for the Bulls still. But Josh Giddey's been struggling this year. Talk to me about this one. Chicago at Boston.

I think Caleb Wilson will be a really good defender as he kind of grows into his body. Also, shout out to North Carolina Tar Heels. But yeah, right now, I mean, he's still young.
He's picking up a lot of really good people on the other side. I think he was guarding Tatum for most of that game. And... The NBA Cup definitely provides a different aspect to this one because I played a lot of Tatum and that one wasn't super comfortable with it because it was a big spread. I think it was like twelve and now it's up to fifteen. So...
That aspect of it makes me a little bit worried again, but this is the NBA Cup, and teams would be smart to run up the score when they can just to get that point differential up. So I think that we might get closer to full minutes tonight from these Celtics guys.
Maybe they're out there with like two or three minutes left versus getting pulled at like the six-minute mark, and those three minutes will go a long way, especially when they're just going to be chucking the ball up to try to extend the lead as much as they can. So a wider range of outcomes. I have no doubt that the offense will have a lot of success here. It's just whether or not they play enough minutes.
I'm going to I'm just going to project them as full and hope that they do. And that would get me into a ton of Tatum had has had the best role he's ever had in his career right now. I think he's averaging double digit assists or at least assists. I think the price is still totally fine for him. He's probably good up to like, ten point $5,000 at this point with the role that he has.
PG, he's getting a lot of OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. It's a really good spot for the guards, but, you know, $6,000 for Peyton Pritchard coming off the bench. I know he had a huge game last time out, but do you expect him to shoot? I don't know. Nobody shot in that game like seventy percent. And Derek White's just been bad.
So it's really just Paul George or sorry, Jason Tatum for me. I'll get a sprinkle of Paul George, sprinkle of Derek White, Peyton Pritchard. I've seen the bigs getting a little bit of ownership. Probably wouldn't go there tonight, but I can understand why it is a really good matchup. And probably nothing for me on the Bulls side. He's probably going to be a big reason why. And then keep an eye on the Jalen Smith Q tag. If he's out, I mean, man, they're really, really thin behind him. They might, you know, they might dust off Zach Collins. Could be Leonard Miller. I think that they would get absolutely destroyed inside regardless, you know, who starts. But if Jalen Smith misses, they're going to be really, really weak in the frontcourt. Yeah, good stuff there. Trying to see if I see any questions.
Don't see any questions. Oh, you got a fan in the chat, though. My boy Shane wants to stay with him. Yeah, we're mutual friends on Twitter. What's up, Shane? Or ex. Yeah, ex. And Coach Sav. Coach Sav is a Duke fan. He doesn't like that Caleb Wilson shout-out for them Tar Heels. You should play tape tonight, then. Yeah, play that Dookie over there, Jason Tatum. Next game up on the slate is the Battle of Texas. Got the Rockets.
You always make fun of me the way I say his name, Leo, but Alvarin Shingoon is questionable tonight. So get your take on him to see if he's playing a take on this Mavericks team. Hey, last Friday night, my boy Matt was all over some Cooper flag, and he gets shoved in the back going up for a dunk. Hopefully the Mavs can keep this one close tonight. It is six-and-a-half point spread. Not a very high total.
I like me some Durantula KD over there, but talk to me a little bit about this game. How are you handling this Rockets at the Mavericks tonight? Yeah, so this is probably another. I can see myself loading up a ton on these last three games because they all look like the best spots just overall from a game environment standpoint.
I'll get to some of these guys in the earlier games, but another reason I don't want to go too heavy on that Charlotte-Washington game because obviously if Sangoon misses, like the trickle-down effect is huge on him it sounded like he was going to miss multiple games but he practiced I think yesterday uh or whenever it was that they had practice so I don't know I don't have a strong lean I'll keep an eye on that and look for some quotes as we get closer to lock well I guess lock is in an hour and a half but you know the next hour or so I'll look for some stuff I'm probably just going to operate that he is in.
I think that these guys like KD, you mentioned Almond Thompson, look great regardless. And then there are pivots you can get to Tari Eason and Kluka Pella, I guess, later if you want to go there. Like you're going to load up on Minnesota guys. I think that the Indy Miami game has a lot of plays. But, yeah, with that being said, I think it's a great game to get into. I love both sides of this one. I think that the Rocket side, I'm starting with Ahmed Thompson. I just think he looks really good this year. And then if you get Sangoon out, going to be much, much better. Had a great game against the Bucs last time out. Gets an even better matchup here, I would say, against a bad rim defense. And I agree with you on KD, though.
I want to double check what do we have KD projected at OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Par Easton really bumps up if Sengun is out. Yeah, that's kind of where you have to not take it so literally because I think we had him for like forty-something points if Sengun was out. KD is seven. Seven percent. That's what we have him as, yeah.
Okay yeah I think that he's a great option then as a GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool)A GPP is a tournament whose prize pool is guaranteed to pay out in full even if the contest does not fill. Payouts are steep: a small group at the top wins most of the money. Before you enter a tournament lineup, ask how it finishes first, not just how it cashes. Either way yeah kd I think is a really really solid option I don't think that there's anybody that can stop him in the world but they have some okay wing protectors uh pj Washington cooper flag I
Think it'd be pj on him pj Washington on him so not too worried about that but yeah katie looks really really solid and then like I said just be prepared for Saint Goon missing I think Tari would become a must-have even though he wasn't great last time out and then I think that Capella would be in play again I mean that was a bad run out I capped myself on Capella because I just didn't think that he's going to play a ton of minutes end up with five stocks in that game so you know take that away he's at twenty two points I would have been feeling pretty good about that fade but the Bucks are just that that bad And then, yeah, Matt's boy, Cooper Flagg, I'm really in on him this year.
I want to play him tonight, even bad matchup. I'm going to be playing him a ton every single night because I think that his role in this Dustin May offense looks really solid. And there was a quote, I don't know when it was, but leading into the season, Dustin May said that just with the way that their offense is schemed around him, They there's going to be games where he goes for fifteen to twenty or fifteen to twenty assists.
I want to be on him when that happens because he's going to provide stocks. He's going to provide rebounds. It's going to get a scoring going like he could really put up some huge, huge numbers in this offense. Obviously, it's tougher opponent.
The other side Rockets are good defense and I'm aware of that but I'm going to continue playing especially when he's this LeverageLeverage is the edge you gain by rostering a play the field is underweight on, compared with how often it ends up in winning lineups. When that play outscores the popular option most lineups chose instead, you gain ground on those lineups, though the rest of your roster still decides where you finish.Look for leverage on players connected to the chalk, like the other side of a popular game or a teammate who can steal the popular player's touches.Read the full definition of Leverage I don't really care about the matchup at that point um and it's also kind of a better matchup for him to get some assists piled up here Houston has been given up the sixth highest three-point frequency this season but they've run extremely hot and lucky with teams being unable to knock down the three-point shots their number one and three-point look which basically means I'm not going to break that down.
Basically, they've just been getting really lucky with teams missing shots against them. So if that turns around and Cooper flags the one that's initiating, it could be a really big game for him. Yeah, good stuff there. Going back, I think the answer is yes, but are you maxed two in the Charlotte game for Single-EntryA single-entry contest allows each user exactly one lineup. It certainly helps us out a ton over here. My guy Hebrew Cheetah breaking it all down, filling in for our guy Belman. We got two games left and it's the Pacers taking on the cover boy, the Greek freak Giannis. Looking forward to breaking this one. This one down, Matt or Matt Rio. We got some interesting news in this one. No Tyrese Halliburton. No Tyrese Halliburton. No Zubac. Still no T.J. McConnell, Obi Toppin and Neesmith and Nimhart are all questionable.
So if you've got any updates on that, let me know it. But you've got the Greek freak taking on his former, I'll call him Midwest, his former Midwest rivals in this one in his new home. We've got some questions around it as well. But break this one all down, then we'll get to any questions in the chat. Yeah, so those guys that are questionable should be in. The one that we're waiting on, between Nembhard and Neesmith, they're probable, so they'll be in tonight.
Really just waiting on Obi Toppin, kind of dealing with a plethora of injuries, but he's listed with lower back soreness. I thought it was a wrist injury for him. But yeah, I'd expect Neesmith and Nembhard to play tonight. I'd expect them to be full. I mean, this game looks like the best one on the SlateA slate in DFS is the set of games, races, fights or tournament rounds covered by a contest. I understand that Miami is favored by eight and a half, and they had a nice bounce back win against Atlanta.
I'm still not fully buying in on them as a team. I'm not saying I would bet the Indy side on this, but I do think Miami wins. I think that their matchup's really good here. But I don't think that they're really worthy of a team that should be this big of favorites. The Pacers are coached really well. They're still a solid squad, even taking away Tyrese Halliburton. And they're going to be playing to win this one in the NBA Cup.
So I'm in on this game as a game environment standpoint. And both these teams like to play fast. It makes sense why the total is what it is. I think there would be plenty of scoring here. As for the plays on the Pacers' side, Nembhard had as good as a role you can ask for for a guard, you know, taking over for Tyrese Halliburton. Had over eleven minutes of touch time, fourteen assists.
I think he was up around, like, twenty-something potential assists in that one. And he actually shot it really bad. And I wouldn't say this matchup is much better. I think he saw a lot of Dyson Daniels. Or, sorry, who were they playing that? Was it the Milwaukee game? No. Who were they playing? Philly. Okay. So I think he probably had a lot of BJ Edgecombe on him. I think Davion Mitchell is probably a better defender than BJ right now. So tough matchup.
But just with the role, I don't think you can poke too many holes in a guy priced this low for that type of role. He really has a role of like an eight and a half to $9,000 player. So I'm really good with them hard here. Siakam at $1,000 probably need fifty five plus on this big of a slate. Maybe fifty gets it done. Don't really think it's going to happen. He's going to be guarded by Giannis and will be guarding Giannis as well.
So there's plenty of foul trouble that could go his way. I think he's better as a tournament option if the OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. And this is the exact type of matchup you play a guy like Neesmith in, three-point defense funnel like Miami.
They're still giving up a ton dating back to like three or four years ago, whatever it was. They're going to continue to give up a ton. I remember Rio. It might be a good time to ladder up some Aaron Neesmith ones or Aaron Neesmith and Duncan Robinson. Ladder both those guys up tonight. I'll expect a nice little Venmo request at the end of the night. Hold on. Duncan plays for Detroit. You're saying that other team has a three-point funnel?
Yeah, Brooklyn is the second worst three-point defense in terms of three-point frequency allowed. They're running teams out of the paint and allowing a lot of open threes. And Miami is third worst. Who's the worst? Boston, actually. Boston? This is not three-pointers allowed. This is three-pointers given up. Yep, got it. Take that with a little bit of a grain of salt. But we know with Miami, they've always been a team that gives up a ton of . As for the Miami side, still going to be Giannis for me.
I still think he's too cheap. I understand that he hasn't really had the massive game yet. He was fine last time. He had one really good game against Dallas, but this is kind of a similar spot for him. Indy, another really bad rim protecting team. Then you take away Zubac, Jay Huff down low, just an undersized big man, and nobody else that can really stop a guy like Giannis. I'm in on him again.
Nothing really to say there I think he's a smash play like this is probably a game where I'm starting with yannis and nempard and then um a couple other value plays I like in this game I'll get to in a second I think we had a question about those guys but um yeah bam finally had a good game and they got away from the uh the three-point shooting thankfully I mean he's not a three-point shooter then you stop trying to make him one and yeah I mean a great spot for him here I think that he's priced fairly.
I do still prefer the upside for Giannis, but I wouldn't say that Bama's a bad play. Kind of struggling with the idea of playing those two together. I think it's similar to like the Cad Brunson thing, but for this one, you're eating up, what is that, a little, eighteen K in salary. So just tough for both those guys to pay off in a really big way. Still like Davion. I think he's great for him over Dennis Schroeder in that same range.
No on Wiggins. Bobby Portis, I think, is a totally fine value play tonight. It's a great matchup for all the bigs. So frontcourt guys should definitely be playing. He doesn't need a ton of minutes to get there. You know, low to mid-twenties is plenty for him. But the guy that I have a lot of interest in that I did last time out was Pelly Larson. Yeah, I mean, he's just had a really solid role off the bench, playing starter-like minutes. He saw a lot more handling as well.
I mean, he's flown up the stat sheet in a really big way, and he was the guy that they were most excited about leading into the season, just hyping him up all offseason. I think we're now starting to finally see the breakout coming, so I'm really in on Pelly Larson here. You missed it last Friday, Hebrew. My boy Newins was banging on me because I said Tim Hardaway Jr., What's good and hell he did was put up what? You didn't mention him, so I'm disappointed. Disappointed you didn't mention my boy Tim Hardaway Jr. Playing in this contest. But all right. Last game up on the slate tonight is going to be the Darius Garland led Clippers taking on the T-Wolves. And everybody knows the big news here. No Ant-Man, no B.I. For the Clippers has yet to make his debut for L.A. So with Ant out, we saw a lot of value popping off the page.
Last time out, how are you handling this Minnesota team and how are you handling this game as a whole? Yeah, a lot of what I said the last time I was on the show kind of applies the same way to the Minnesota side. And I mean, I guess it's a little bit different now because I was beating the drum on fading LaMelo.
Honestly, kind of got lucky there because he ran into foul trouble, but he was pacing for like thirty four or thirty five minutes. And I think if he would have got there, he might have made me look really stupid. He's looking at a lot lower OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Read the full definition of Ownership than he was in that one. So I'm kind of flipping the script here. I want to be a little bit higher on LaMelo just because the role did look pretty good for him. And they just need to get him going.
He's got to step up in a big way on offense in order for Minnesota to have success here. Minnesota still played really good defense without Ant. So I think that they're going to be fine for the next couple of months. And this is a good spot for them to put up a lot of steals and transition scoring because the Clippers are dead last in turnover percentage this season. So really good spot for the Minnesota guys. But yeah, I'm in on Iotes.
Don't think that he received a big enough price jump. I don't even know if he saw a price jump at all. He might have been like five point one, five point $2,000, something like that. But he's good up to like six to $6,500. Just think that he provides a lot of what they need in Ant's absence. I think Kaminga really good here. The uptempo play style is going to be good for him. Five with $2,000, not high enough.
Terrence Shannon Jr. Kind of got talked down a little bit by Chris Finch, just saying he wasn't making great decisions at the rim. But he's going to check it when he's out there. Got to the free throw line ten times in that game. Back to back thirty point games. I mean, he's.
Really saw it as a value piece and then a little bit lower on uh definitely super low on rudy gobert I mean he's just got no offensive game right now never really did but especially right now and then jd mcdaniels did see a little bit of a bump in usage um eighteen field goal attempts in that one I'm fine going back to him just for the same reasons that I like ion kaminga it's a good transition spot for this team so he's a guy that does kind of hit the uh hit that note there And then the Clippers side of things, I mean, Garland, he's too pricey for me, but I understand it because he's had a really as good of a role as he's had in his career.
Just dominating touches. Usage is around like thirty two percent, but it's not a good matchup. Although I will say maybe it is kind of a good matchup. So we just saw what Steph did against his team. And I did mention that, like Rudy Gobert is going to play a ton of drop coverage. So you can really attack this team and pick a role.
So maybe we see, I mean, I don't think he's obviously nowhere near as, uh, as good as Steph, but he's going to have the ball in his hands a ton and could get some scoring going. I do think that it'll be JD McDaniels on him though. So might have a little bit of issues with the length, but stylistically this good matchup for a guy like Garland, um, I don't know, Wegler and Dunn seem a little bit of ownership.
I guess I'd be okay with Wegler just for the potential upside on a rookie, but not playing it enough for really to be a huge ValueValue is the fantasy production you expect from a player relative to his salary. All right, you have two years. I'll continue to look. Yeah, I'm going to go – it's not real sexy, but I'm going to go Jason Tatum.
I like Jason Tatum in this game. Obviously, you said how bad the Bulls' defense is. Tatum, I think, can get sixty-plus. He is $9,800. I like him slightly ahead of Giannis. You made a lot of good points about Giannis, but the big boy, I'm going Jason Tatum. I like it. Yeah, I do think I am going to go with Giannis. It's kind of a ChalkChalk is the most popular, highly owned play on a slate. The term comes from sports betting, where the favorite is called the chalk.Don't label chalk good or bad. But yeah, I just really think this is a great, great matchup for the Miami guys.
And Giannis in particular, I think looks really, really strong here. It's kind of crazy seeing Giannis and Tatum this close together, but hard to argue against that. I mean, if I had to give two guys that I want to be overweight on that are looking like really low on plays, it would be Cade and Cooper flag for all the reasons mentioned when I talked about those games.
So if you want to go back and look at that, but yeah, I just, I do think that we probably get a lower on stud tonight that could break the slate. And those would be the two guys that I'm looking to. Gotcha. Excellent stuff there. Two other questions. I'll say real quick. What roles would you set for Minnesota?
Yeah, I said last time out I would want to be a max two of terence shannon jr io and cominga so I'd probably run that one back um yeah they didn't really overlap for a time I think it was like like three or four minutes so technically they should all kind of negatively correlate they did kind of all get there in a decent way so you might have lost out on some money if you implemented that rule in smaller field stuff but that would be something that I'm running in mme tonight where you kind of have to be closer to perfect Yeah.
All right. Anything else before we get on out of here, Rio? Did you say you wanted to give a ValueValue is the fantasy production you expect from a player relative to his salary. But, yeah, give me my guy, Pele Larson, off the bench at $4,500, playing like a $5,500 player and still not getting the love that he should be. So I'm going with my guy, Pele. I'm going to stay in that same game. And if I'm betting Aaron Neesmith on a ladder three pointer, I'm taking him at $4,700. So give me some Aaron Neesmith at $4,700 bucks.
