The Short Version

Bill previews Saturday’s slate with Byrum Brown the clear priority despite enormous expected ownership, thanks to his price, rushing ceiling and competitive matchup with Baylor. Cam Cook is the preferred running back, while Michael Hawkins Jr. offers rushing upside if West Virginia’s quarterback role holds. Jeremiah Smith ($8,600) remains a major tournament target, but Ohio State’s blowout risk makes efficiency more dependable than volume. Unsettled backfields complicate finding cheap running backs.

Tulane-Duke offers affordable game stacks, especially Walker Eget with Nate Sheppard and Jared Richardson, brought back with Zeon Chriss-Gremillion. Houston provides tournament alternatives, including standalone Conner Weigman and cheaper Rayshon Sanford II. Texas State’s receivers appeal through expected catch-up volume, while Cam Coleman and Emmett Mosley V offer different Texas exposures. Boston College-Cincinnati supplies speculative savings. Favor established roles and chemistry in smaller contests, and reserve uncertain rotations for deliberate tournament shots.

Plays Mentioned

PlayCallThe TakeAt
FADE Explicitly avoided against Alabama despite recent success from other large underdogs. 4:52
His first start could earn extra possessions for development even in a blowout, creating tournament interest without a firm priority ranking. 5:51
Expected to get productive work in an offense that stays aggressive, although distribution and blowout conditions complicate the ceiling. 8:25
North Texas FADE Little reason to pursue the offense against Indiana with an eight-point team total and a massive spread. 9:08
Indiana running backs Kobe Martin or Lee Beebe Jr. would be preferred if Turbo Richard attracts substantially more ownership, because all three could contribute. 9:08
ONE-OFF Worth shots in single-entry or large portfolios because Indiana receivers can produce slate-winning scores without overwhelming ownership. 9:44
ONE-OFF A viable receiver shot alongside Marsh, with confidence in the offense's ability to create a large receiving ceiling. 9:44
Projected to start, but uncertainty about his role and Sanford's involvement prevents full confidence. 12:26
VALUE An overweight salary-saving running back target because Houston's workload may be less settled than the projected starter suggests. 13:05
LEVERAGE Preferred as a tournament shot if attention concentrates on Houston's more discussed receivers. 13:30
LEVERAGE Playing him without a receiver can differentiate at $9,000 if he absorbs rushing touchdowns and spreads out his passing scores. 13:49
ONE-OFF A reasonably priced mix-in based on expected number-two receiver volume, with caution against paying for revenge-game hype. 14:59
West Virginia-Coastal Carolina game stack IN PLAY West Virginia rushing exposure can be paired with Deuce Bailey or speculative Coastal receivers in a tournament game stack. 17:19
VALUE A cheap dual-threat underdog quarterback worth tournament shots, especially as a bring-back to West Virginia exposure. 18:57
CORE Planned heavy exposure for rushing production, contingent on the unresolved quarterback competition; no receiver pairing is necessary. 19:19
Coastal Carolina running backs The unresolved rotation prevents clear interest, despite some acknowledgment of the team's scoring potential. 19:19
CORE The preferred running back on the slate, with projected workhorse volume and strong rushing production in West Virginia's offense. 19:55
Nebraska running backs FADE Avoid the unresolved Mozee-Nelson-Rule rotation, with Colandrea also capable of taking rushing touchdowns. 25:18
LEVERAGE The favorite Nebraska tournament play at very low expected ownership, though the breakout may arrive later rather than immediately. 25:38
ONE-OFF A targeted dual-threat quarterback with rushing floor and ceiling, viewed as a strong fit for Nebraska's offense. 26:55
A first-half eruption is possible, but opinions differed on whether $7,500 leaves enough ceiling with multiple backs and limited expected volume. 32:44
CORE A major tournament exposure at $8,600, relying on elite efficiency because the blowout could substantially limit targets and playing time. 33:16
Ohio State passing stack IN PLAY Limited Julian Sayin double stacks are considered for tournaments, preferably including Smith, but cost and uncertain playing time restrict enthusiasm. 33:16
VALUE At $6,700, he provides quarterback savings in a competitive game, with double stacks preferred for tournament ceiling. 36:13
VALUE Low-owned quarterback value with a rushing path to a useful score and appeal as a Duke stack bring-back. 37:09
CORE Strong support for a proven high-volume back, with hope that more goal-line touchdowns stay with him this season. 37:52
Walker Eget-Nate Sheppard-Jared Richardson with Zeon Chriss-Gremillion TOP STACK A favored affordable game stack that can fit single-entry builds and leave room for Smith and Cook. 38:42
Baylor-Auburn game stack TOP STACK A high-total, competitive game with affordable players and familiar offensive chemistry, suitable for cash and tournament exposure. 43:47
Retaining him while importing most of the offense suggests confidence in his talent, although Brown's rushing role affects the backfield. 44:45
LEVERAGE A low-owned shot on Baylor's listed starter despite the backfield's frustrating history and uncertain workload. 45:53
LEVERAGE A pivot from more popular Louis Brown with a plausible path to an equally substantial receiving role. 45:53
CORE The best play on the slate at an underpriced salary, with potential to lead Auburn in both passing and rushing; heavy ownership is acceptable. 46:47
VALUE A speculative $4,300 blowout option, although opinions were cautious about whether late-game work would be sufficient. 49:04
Texas-Texas State passing stack IN PLAY Texas pass catchers and Texas State's volume-driven receivers can be combined, with Brad Jackson considered only in more correlated builds. 50:02
LEVERAGE An appealing lower-owned premium receiver at $7,300, saving $1,300 from Smith while retaining a plausible slate-leading ceiling. 50:27
VALUE The cheapest receiver pairing with Arch Manning, with a plausible path to leading Texas in receiving fantasy production. 50:58
Coleman's arrival could reduce defensive attention, but the price and expected ownership limited enthusiasm. 50:58
VALUE A $6,100 quarterback with rushing potential who can be used without forcing an uncertain Boston College receiver pairing. 54:11
Boston College-Cincinnati game stack IN PLAY Speculative tournament correlation is preferred to isolated pieces, including JC French with Swanson or Evan Dickens as a bring-back. 58:41
FADE Explicitly passed over in Cincinnati's unclear backfield, with only cheaper alternatives entertained if roles become clearer. 58:41
VALUE Cheap enough for consideration even in cash or single-entry as a way to afford the slate's expensive targets. 59:57
Boise State FADE Avoided because of role uncertainty and the Oregon matchup. 1:03:12
Oregon passing game Opinions were split between receiver value around Dante Moore and avoiding stacks because the offense could distribute work among too many players. 1:03:12
Strong interest in his ability to absorb production at $7,500, with no required receiver pairing and familiar pass catchers available. 1:07:18
Tentative interest as a discounted second running back, based on the staff's history of using multiple backs. 1:07:53
Opinions were split between avoiding the expensive back and considering him for established workload and offensive continuity. 1:08:49

All systems go. Clear for liftoff. Week one continues. We have a big slate ahead on Saturday. We've already gotten through some pretty good football, some pretty gross football, man, Thursday night. Some wild things happening with UMass, the Colorado game, Georgia Tech was just gross. But we're ready for Saturday. Welcome to the Ship It Nation podcast.

1:01

College football week one breakdown my name is Bill put a dollar in front of it you'll find me in x and I'm joined by our college football team ham hock and I am Robbins what's going on guys how did you enjoy college football week one last night it's always good to have any football I uh couldn't get my or I got to get my uh umass future to make the playoff now right they got their they got their p-five win Right?

1:26

Undefeated? Unreal. Just unreal. I think, yeah, just the last thing that you could have expected. But that's college football. That's why we love it. That's why we're back. It feels like we're back. Yeah, we're definitely back. In week zero, we had backup running backs and third string running backs scoring the first touchdowns. Now we had Rutgers just laying an egg.

1:48

I did say it yesterday on the show that I never consider Dylan Lonergan But maybe when he's playing UMass, I guess we can cross that off the list too. Not even when he's playing UMass. Oh, man, it was impressive. Yeah, that was just no words for that. Pop Watson for Heisman. All right, so let's get into Saturday. There's some big contests, so obviously now is the time to get with the nation.

2:23

For Ship It Nation college football right now, I mean, I got to mention this just because it's our headline. We have the entire NFL season for three forty nine. It comes with a Ship It Games entry. Ship It Games is back. There's the current prizes. This is something that will only grow. And then we have the new Stone 2.0 point all, which we'll go over in a little bit. But if you just want college football, we have that as well.

2:46

Obviously, I'm going to promote these all access core starter ultimate comes with SaberSim. It comes with everything you need, plus some DFS Mastermind add-ons now. Single sport, you just want college football, less than a dollar a day. And then you can get it with the optimizer. Then it's like, what, a dollar, a dollar forty nine a day or something like that. Not too much more to get everything you need for the college football season.

3:10

But you can see it on our outline, too, just looking around us. Five days for nineteen dollars now is the perfect time to get in on that because we have college football on. Friday, today, we have college football on Saturday, Sunday, Monday. NFL starts on Wednesday next week. So do the math. The five days will get you to Wednesday of next week right now.

3:33

So get in on that, whether you want to test it out for five days, whether you want to just go all year, whether you want to get everything. It's a great time to join the nation. But without further ado, let's get into Saturday football, starting off with East Carolina and Alabama. Story of the weekend for week one. Big spread, high total on one side. East Carolina, I mean, Mitch Griffiths, we think won the starting job. There's not a whole lot to say.

4:02

I mean, some decent names, Ashton Graves, a name you recognize, but I really don't know how heavy you're targeting this. Maybe a little bit more because of what we've seen so far with the upsets, but on the Alabama side, it's the Keelan Russell era. Daniel Hill is back. Kevin Riley's back. We know they're proven guys. And then Ryan Coleman Williams, it is the same guy, Ryan Williams, that we know from years past. Lazier Brooks was a stud freshman last year. He's back.

4:29

Rico Scott is a name we know. Derek Meadows could start and play a lot. What are you guys looking at? I mean, are you approaching this any differently after what we saw with UMass, or is that just a product of Rutgers being bad? Are we just really on the Alabama side here? Yeah, I'm just going to call that. Yeah, go ahead. Go ahead. See, it's kind of like definitely a talking point.

4:52

These first two sites we've had, like these quarterbacks that are huge underdogs, like the UAB quarterback got there last night, Watson, Weaver the week before. There's just been a lot of guys get there. That being said, I don't think I'm playing any Mitch Griffiths. Alabama, they don't make you feel really warm and fuzzy, but I really like them in GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool)A GPP is a tournament whose prize pool is guaranteed to pay out in full even if the contest does not fill. Payouts are steep: a small group at the top wins most of the money. Before you enter a tournament lineup, ask how it finishes first, not just how it cashes. If you cannot name that scenario, rebuild it.Full explanation ↗ to get different. But that's really all I have for this game, not any hot takes, really.

5:19

Yeah, from a results perspective, I think that's a one-off last night with UMass. I don't know. Of course, we could see more upsets. They happen every year. We get surprises all the time. But one thing I'm interested in is – With Alabama, Keelan Russell is making his first ever start. Seems like a good week, he was named starter, it was a big competition. Get some experience, get some legs underneath them as they head into the season, they got a big schedule ahead of them.

5:51

So I just wonder, maybe he gets a little bit more than a vet quarterback might get just coming in as first star coming in. Maybe ready, just we see the blowout, he might need a little extra reps. And that's just something in the back of my head when I'm looking at who to play with the volume.

6:13

This is circumstance that may dictate maybe a little bit, maybe it doesn't get pulled in the middle of the third quarter if they're up by by twenty eight. Maybe he gets one or two extra possessions, which could be a big difference. Yeah, and as we go along, you're gonna see there's a lot of options to pay up at quarterback.

6:30

So if you're looking at a guy who is in one of these high team total situations, but also might play three and a half quarter or quarters instead of three or three quarters instead of two and a half, that, that extra time could certainly make a difference. Uh, but you guys, you guys broke it down perfectly. Really, really just looking at the Alabama side here. I, there's some underdogs that I may touch on later on.

6:54

I don't know if he's Caroline is the one, uh, I also don't know if North Texas is the one. Forty and a half point dogs, an eight-point team total. It is a Taven Jackson revenge game, so you know he's going to get up for this. Does he have the team around him to do it? Probably not against Indiana. Jaheim White is the same Jaheim White we know from West Virginia. I'm not even really going to dig too much into these wide receivers.

7:20

On the Indiana side, the biggest transfer of the season, at least by the rankings, is Josh Hoover. Turbo Richard is in from Boston College, but they have proven guys, I guess, in Kobe Martin, who got some run last year, and then Lee Beebe, who's dealt with a little bit of injury but also has gotten some run with Indiana. And then wide receiver, Nick Marsh, big transfer in from Michigan State. Charlie Becker was a big up-and-comer last year, was huge at the end of the season.

7:47

But again, we're in a similar situation to Alabama, big favorite, big home favorite, very inferior team. What are you guys looking at with North Texas, Indiana? Yeah, you hit it. There's a lot of new faces, but some similar faces on here. Cignetti, they're celebrating the championship, raising the trophy. He knows how to work the portal. They had the guy right away, right after the title game, they had Hoover in. They had Richard in. They had Marsh in, and these guys are impact players.

8:25

Indiana's been a kind of dual running back kind of team. They've been a team that doesn't let their foot off the gas, so a forty point spread seems pretty warranted here. North Texas is definitely a complete turnaround team. Based on what we saw the last few years, just how much they lost just all around. But, you know, I think Hoover gets some work. You know, the guys are the guys, you know, they got, they got two stud receivers. They got a stud quarterback.

8:56

They got a, they got two or three, four guys, maybe who could run the ball and get some carries. They just kind of spread it out. I think we know what to expect from Indian at this point. It's been kind of a similar story the last few years with them. Yeah.

9:08

I, I, I guess really I don't have much interest in north Texas side that I want to touch on but as far as the indiana running back room kind of like taking like richard's the projected starter we obviously don't have a depth chart for indiana but um if he garners like a pretty significant amount of OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗ more than Martin or bb I really prefer one of those two guys I don't I I mean it wouldn't shock me at all if like kobe Martin got the first carry like indiana is going to use all three of these guys in any game situation um And then, yeah, just, I mean, Marsh and Becker, I'm really interested.

9:44

I don't know where their ownership is going to shake out. I don't think they'll get too high, but we've seen some Indiana receivers absolutely destroy slates. So I wouldn't be scared to take a shot on them in a single injury or a one-fifty build. But that kind of sums up Indiana. I'm assuming they're going to get their probably seventeenth straight win. Yeah, obviously we've seen some upsets, but Indiana's a different team than Rutgers.

10:10

I don't see a scenario where they fall flat here. But yeah, it's pretty straightforward with those teams as well. Moving on, maybe a little bit different. We have Houston and Oregon State a little bit tighter. Still a blowout potential here. A little bit tighter spread, though. Oregon State at least projected to score two touchdowns. Braden Atkinson is a projected starter, but I mean, Look at who he beat. Malik Murph is not anybody you're racing to play. We could see a timeshare in the backfield.

10:45

We'll see how it goes. A.J. Newberry is in from Vanderbilt. Cornell Hatcher is definitely toward the top of the depth chart here. When we met last night, I think my exact words were, who are these guys on Oregon State? We got some FCS transfers just Just a plethora of dart throws in this wide receiver room. A lot we don't know about this team. Quite a different story from the other side of the ball, Houston.

11:16

We know Conner Wegman, $9,000 is a borderline blastman's price, but he's put up ceiling numbers for that before. Makai Hughes, yeah, same Makai Hughes. He's back after a just complete dud experience in Oregon. But Rashawn Sanford coming off of a torn ACL is getting a lot of love out of camp too. This is a back and forth we've had internally as well. Is it going to be Makai Hughes? They paid him money to get there, I'm sure. But Sanford, I don't know.

11:50

Hughes has just a weird past. Stud, then nothing, now a chance for resurgence. Speaking of stud, Amari Thomas broke some slates last year. Everybody was on the Amari Thomas train by midseason. Trent Walker in a revenge spot. Patrick Overmeyer, just a familiar name for DFS players who's going to be on the field a lot. This is one of those games I think could end up breaking the slate just based on the unknowns with Oregon State and then Houston. Really, it could be anyone.

12:26

Wegman and Thomas are going to be the go-tos, but a lot of these guys could pop. Yeah, as far as Oregon State goes, I think I'll probably take a shot in the receiver room, which I don't know. Atkinson had some really good numbers where he was at previously at Mercer. I don't know if that really translates. Absolutely. But yeah, Houston, I mean, obviously, I mean, Makai Hughes, all indications is he would be the starter, but I'm not... Fully sold on that.

13:05

It's kind of hard to find salary relief on this slate, especially at running back. So I really like being overweight on race on Sanford here. I really don't think either of them are going to get much OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗. That's just kind of, I think how I'm going to attack it. And then, yeah, another receiver room. I'm curious where Trent, I mean, you know, with the revenge game, like that's the only thing I've heard about Trent Walker. I mean, he's supposed to be wide receiver too.

13:30

I'd, I'm curious if he might get some unwarranted steam just because of the revenge game. It really doesn't. I mean, it's something cool to talk about, but really isn't something you project. And then, yeah, I guess talking through that, Overmire, I guess, kind of prefers my GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool)A GPP is a tournament whose prize pool is guaranteed to pay out in full even if the contest does not fill. Payouts are steep: a small group at the top wins most of the money. Before you enter a tournament lineup, ask how it finishes first, not just how it cashes. If you cannot name that scenario, rebuild it.Full explanation ↗ shot.

13:49

And also, you know, kind of when you were talking there, Bill, I almost don't mind just playing Wegman by himself, like in a, like just maybe he swipes all those rushing touchdowns and just throws a couple. And we've seen him absorb all the touchdowns before. So I don't mind doing that stand either to almost kind of get different because I think Wegman is going to be paired more frequently than he was last year on this slate.

14:12

Yeah, and that's the interesting part with Wigman. He was such a running threat. He was almost a true dual threat last year. And with Sanford and Hughes coming back, just putting question marks in the backfield, we don't know where they're going to go. Maybe it is Wigman. Maybe Wigman runs less, which caps his ceiling at $9,000. The interesting part about Walker is he's a true number two. He was a pretty productive receiver last year at Oregon State.

14:40

And it's just an interesting spot just facing your old team. In the opening. But more than that, his price makes it affordable. Mario Thomas is a known stud. He's just priced up. We would love to be able to play Thomas. Last year, he was priced in the four Ks, and we played him. Now he's probably priced where he should be, and he makes you think a little about it.

14:59

Pricing is pretty good this week overall as a slate, so you're going to have to make some decisions there how you want to build with our first full slate of the season. So I do kind of like Walker as a mix-in just because of volume. He's good in get. If we think, you know, if he's going to be on the field, he's going to be on the field. He probably should garner some targets, some action.

15:20

Houston is projecting the score of thirty-five points. It's a pretty healthy team total, and they have a lot of expectations this year. So, it seems like a good spot that maybe will be under-owned, as Amhock said. Yeah, one of those games that could potentially get sneaky.

15:38

You know, Oregon State's got a new coaching staff, and they fired their coach mid-season last year, because that's another thing that Um, is worth pointing out when you got a guy facing his former team is that that staff probably knows him better than anybody in this case, in this case, that's not it because it's a different coaching staff. Um, but yeah, definitely a game that that's going to catch some eyes. Uh, yeah, specifically on the Houston side. Hey, we got point totals continuing to go up.

16:03

The spread stayed big, but the point we got more points in this game, at least coastal Carolina at West Virginia, Ryan beard is in a coastal Carolina. He brought his quarterback with him induced Bailey. Uh, dual threat looked great at Missouri state when he played last year, obviously the competition was a lot different than, than what we see in West Virginia here. Uh, and then just a plethora of names.

16:24

We've heard Tristan Gardner is a guy that came with from Missouri state in the wide receiver room. Um, cheap guys. This is, I mean, that's what I see on coastal Carolina. I mean, we've seen it with quite a few of these, these underdogs, um, And then on the West Virginia side, the quarterback battle, it's still listed as or on the depth chart. You know, we think it's going to be Hawkins. Scotty Fox did make a case for himself last year, but they brought Hawkins in for a reason.

16:49

Cam Cook, I'm not even going to say anything daily, like fantasy darling. And then Jaden Bray is a name that we were hoping for last year, but he dealt with injuries at West Virginia. He was a stud at Oklahoma State. So, you know, a clear number one receiver in this room. But with Hawkins at quarterback, does it cut into these wide receivers? Ian, what do you think, how you're going to approach this game? And we have two dual threat quarterbacks.

17:19

Yeah, so coastal side, Sperling Garneau, they got a decent team total considering they're such big underdogs. You know, we just have questions with personality. Bailey is definitely a Bring-BackIn college football, a bring-back is usually a pass catcher or running back from the team facing your quarterback stack.Pick the bring-back who gains the most when his team falls behind. In football that's usually the opponent's top pass catcher, not a running back who loses carries in a comeback.Full explanation ↗ play. If you're looking for a Game StackIn college football, a game stack usually combines a quarterback, his pass catchers and one or more players from the opposing offense.Target games where the spread is close as well as the total high. A high total with a lopsided spread can turn into a blowout where only one side keeps scoring.Full explanation ↗ option there, that's more on GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool)A GPP is a tournament whose prize pool is guaranteed to pay out in full even if the contest does not fill. If you cannot name that scenario, rebuild it.Full explanation ↗ than I'm sure Hanock will talk about. I don't know if there's that many one offs just because of the style they run, a style of offense they run. But on the West Virginia side, there's definitely some targets here.

17:47

It's Rich Rod offense. We know they're honoring Pat White at this game, which was the ultimate dual threat quarterback back in the day. Michael Hawkins had some production last year at Oklahoma doing what Rich Rod likes quarterbacks to do, and that's run the ball. And run the ball a lot and be athletic running the ball.

18:04

And pairs up well with the running back of Cam Cook, who could – you know who's a true workforce running back and we can project a lot of touches for him I just wish that they would declare a quarterback because the depth chart comes out and it's an or uh it just gives you that little slight positive hesitation even though we think it's going to be Hawkins it might not be Hawkins the whole game and if we could project a four quarters worth of Hawkins it'd be great if we could check four quarters with a fox it would be great um Hopefully we get clarity before tomorrow morning.

18:33

That's all I would say from that. But definitely playable. Hawkins is definitely in that range. It's got a super high floor, assuming that he does play. Cam Cook has a super high floor, super high ceiling as well. West Virginia is one of those teams that is looking to ascend. Receiver-wise, I don't know how far I'm going to play. I think it's going to be a lot of running, a lot of on the ground play. Spread the ball out.

18:57

It's just too much unknown right now to pair up. I don't think you have to pair up anybody with these quarterbacks anyway. But I'm definitely looking at those guys in the Single-EntryA single-entry contest allows each user exactly one lineup. It can be a cash game or a tournament. In single-entry, one or two contrarian decisions are usually enough. Yeah, I really, like Tulsa Carolina is the first underdog I really want to take some shots on as we're going down this list. Deuce Bailey definitely a dual threat.

19:19

It's probably going to be pretty ugly, but seen ugly work in some of these games and they do I mean they have over a two touchdown total um as far as like the skill positions I'm not messing with these running backs and the million oars that are between all their names um the receiver situation is kind of the same but there is some familiar familiarity with tristan gardner he's overpriced he's going to be like sub one percent I'm guessing um and then robbie Washington and camilla English and both the other starters of course with an or in between their backup But I am going to take some shots because I'm going to have a ton of Hawkins and Camp Cook.

19:55

Camp Cook, I mean, I don't think I'm selling short when I say he's the best running back play on the slate. Obviously, there's that or. I'm just going to roll it out as if there isn't that or with the West Virginia quarterback room, and hopefully it doesn't come back to bite me. And in this receiver room, there's actually a starting receiver for West Virginia, John Nieder, that's not even listed on DraftKings.

20:17

So there's like some uses there the DraftKings isn't even going to be scoring if you know he I mean he could be the best receiver we really don't know and then you really want Hawkins by himself so I would not pair Hawkins and I you know I don't mind sprinkling in bray epps or maybe even some trough but um really just more focused on the rushing from west virginia from the quarterback and the running back they're gonna be high owned but they're fine in every format I don't know about playing them together.

20:45

I haven't fully decided on that. I mean, if West Virginia beats their team total, there's a realm of possibilities where both those guys get every touchdown and it's on the ground. So it's something to think about. Thirty-eight points is no joke in a team total right there. Yeah, and I mean, that's one thing to consider, too. Obviously, the team total kind of reflects this.

21:14

But when you're talking about some of these big underdogs on the slate, West Virginia is not in the same category as Indiana, Ohio State, Texas. So if Coastal can get their offense humming, then, you know, it's not that we're saying, hey, they're going to go out and win this football game necessarily. It's just that for fantasy purposes, the interest is there. So a team that you definitely don't want to cross off just because of the spread. Like we did with UMass yesterday.

21:47

Yesterday, we talked about San Jose State so much because of what happened against USC in terms of fantasy. Now, this week, it's just UMass. There's bound to be another one coming up, but it's just picking which one it's going to be that makes it difficult. Speaking of Ohio, they're not the worst team on this slate. There's kind of a teaser already below it, but What do you say, Hamhawk? This is not your Parker Navarro Ohio football team.

22:18

This isn't your daddy's Parker Navarro Ohio Bobcats. The one guy that sticks out is Duncan Brown just because he's gotten a ton of run. There's just not a lot to love with a eleven and a half point team total. I believe Victor Rosa is the guy in from Was he the UConn running back? I don't know. Maybe you take a shot on these guys, an extreme MME-type dart throw.

22:51

But on the Nebraska side, Anthony Calandria, I mean, he's just such a fun fantasy football player. There's some boom or bust to him, but his legs get him a lot of his production. And then in this running back room, we got some new faces. Isaiah Mosey is in. Him and Nelson Arcana – I'll let you talk ham hock because I know you're the Nebraska guy, but, uh, we could see more than one guy in this backfield.

23:16

And then as I hunters, one of the big names, people remember from Nebraska last year, quasi Gilmer's a big name from UCLA that transferred in is a thousand dollars cheaper. And then Linden Meyer and then Jacori Barnes is another name that, you know, I, I feel like had a lot of potential last year and maybe even had some spikes, but, um, you know, we, we want a little bit more consistency.

23:37

How are you approaching, First off, are you touching Ohio hammock and then in Nebraska? I'll just hand the reins over to you. You're in Cornhusker country. I'm considering Bruin. That's really the only one. I don't really know if it's like the best game environment for him. I definitely prefer Coastal over Ohio here. And that also might be a little biased. Don't get me wrong. But yeah, I guess talking about Nebraska, I mean, I could go on forever about all these players, where they come from and stuff.

24:12

But I mean, Calandria, I'm really excited to see him with Holgerson. I think that he's a way better fit than Ryola ever was. Definitely going to have some shares of him. The running backs, so Mosey, Nelson, and Rule are oars. The best ball guys really would love to see Mosey.

24:30

Huston Nation really wants Jamal Rule, and I'm guessing that since that's what the world wants, it's probably going to be Mekhi Nelson who got arrested in the offseason but seems to be clear from that and ready to play as far as I can tell.

24:45

I I'm really I think mosey might get some like steam like he was a super super popular best ball pick because he was listed as a wide receiver so you're getting like running back like a running back two on a team can be better than like your fifth wide receiver that you draft and so he's a he was super popular in best ball which isn't really relevant here because they did get his position right but I I think there's a chance mosey pushes twenty percent in cash he might even be over that I I I know some people really want him to be the guy um I think I'm

25:18

Staying away from this whole running back room as much as that pains me to say calandria can steal some stuff with his legs um and I just think it's too much of a crap sheet right now um as much as I want to take shots I I'm not going to I prefer the shots in this receiver room um I mean Hunter, Gilmer, Barnes are the starters.

25:38

Barney's obviously been around for a while, but I think Gilmer and Hunter are going to kind of lead the receiving as far as the receivers go. But the guy I'm most excited about this year is Luke Lindenmeyer. He's going to be super LeverageLeverage is the edge you gain by rostering a play the field is underweight on, compared with how often it ends up in winning lineups. When that play outscores the popular option most lineups chose instead, you gain ground on those lineups, though the rest of your roster still decides where you finish.Look for leverage on players connected to the chalk, like the other side of a popular game or a teammate who can steal the popular player's touches.Full explanation ↗. It's not somebody I necessarily want to like. Be like, oh, you got to play him. But he is my favorite play on the Huskers. I think he's going to have a huge season. I might be early on him.

26:01

At some point, I do think it's going to break. And I guess I probably have like a bad track record with like Jaden Lloyd or Cardinals taking shots on them all year and it never working out because of my bias. But I feel really good about Luke Lindenmeyer. I think I'm super excited about him this year. But I probably talked long enough about Nebraska. I can keep going on and on. But that's all I've got.

26:22

Yeah, we can transition to a little bit more unbiased opinion. I obviously still trust your breakdown, and you're very clear of your bias. Ian, how are you looking at this Nebraska-Ohio game? I mean, there's nothing more for me to say. I do think Klanger is definitely the dual threat guy, that he's definitely a target. The question marks And if Hamwich's saying he doesn't know who's playing for Nebraska, then I don't know who does besides Horgerson and Rule. But, yeah, I mean, those are your boys.

26:55

Those are your Huskers. Covered it. I don't want to add too much. Besides, I do like Calandria. We know he's got a really high floor, really high ceiling in the way that he can play. Yeah, and actually just one more quick take. Emmitt Johnson caught a crap ton of balls last year. I don't know if that's necessarily going to translate with Anthony Calandria with his legs.

27:18

But there is kind of like, I think that's kind of what people are looking at with Mosey is that he might have a really good receiving floor. But yeah, I just wanted to throw that quick tidbit in there. Now I'll quit talking about the Huskers. That's actually a good point, though, because that's part of what went into UMass' first touchdown last night is Pop Watson mobile escaping the pocket.

27:38

Got on the outside and kind of suck those closer defenders in and just a little dump over the top to a running back. I mean, Calandria is mobile enough to make that happen for sure. So some, some pass catching upside just based on the history plus, you know, Calandria skill set. Ball state at Ohio state. This was a two and a half point team total yesterday. Now ball state's coming up. It's a fifty and a half point spread.

28:08

The only thing I want to talk about on Ball State's side is that Keldrick Lester won the starting position, all five, ten, two hundred and fifty pounds of him. And from Texas State before that, he was at SMU and he's like a bowling ball quarterback who's, I think, going to be fun once we get to Maction. Let's just I mean, I'm just going to move on to Ohio State. If you guys have some hot takes about Ball State, fine. But Julian San is kind of in that.

28:37

Top tier in terms of pricing. You know, we know what we're going to get. This could, that's eight, six hundreds a little bit tougher though, if he is going to stay in the pocket and, you know, two hundred and fifty yards and two touchdowns might be enough if they're going to showcase these running backs too. And that's not going to get you there at twenty or $8,600. I still like him as a play.

28:58

I still think he's got potential, obviously. But one thing to keep in mind here, Bo Jackson is the number one, unless you, you know, pay attention to message boards and listen to the stories out of camp. You know, they seem to love Isaiah West there. And I mean, Jacobs Jackson is going to be thrown into the mix in from Florida. And then, I mean, the wide receiver room headline by Jeremiah Smith, just a kind of a plug and play type guy, even at $8,600.

29:25

Devin McQueen is in from UTSA. He was really good at UTSA. So if we're going to get a number two, like if he can, I'm not saying he's going to be Carnell Tate, but if he can kind of fill that role. This might be the time to capture him at $5,500. Brandon Innes is projected to be the third guy. They got Chris Henry, a big recruit in certainly probably going to see time in this game.

29:47

Just given given the nature of the game in. I mean, obviously, Cash, you're not looking at Ball State, but Ohio State seems to jump off the page in some of these spots. Yeah, I just feel like you probably have these guys get theirs and get out. They got Texas next week, which is definitely a look at us, but I don't know how open up the playbooks gonna be. I don't know how much kinks they gotta work out saying the returning quarterback.

30:12

We know Jeremiah Smith is Bo Jackson a returner. I mean, these guys are pretty much known quantities besides the second receivers on down. But yeah, I expect that they're going to get their feet underneath them, get theirs and they don't get out as soon as they can. It makes me, you know, easy. Bo Jackson could certainly get a hundred yards and two touchdowns in the first half. It wouldn't surprise anybody if he did. Same with Jeremiah Smith.

30:39

It also wouldn't surprise anybody if they only touched the ball, you know, less than half of what we expect them to do. It's a lot of, it's just a weird spot where you got all these guys returning same spot and they have such a big game on deck next week.

30:52

It makes me a little bit weary to try to stick them in the Cash GameA cash game is a contest that pays a large share of the field, usually close to half, the same flat prize. Fifty-fifties, double-ups and head-to-heads are the common cash games.Treat cash games as the steady base of your bankroll. Use one safe core across your cash entries on a slate, and save riskier ideas for tournaments.Full explanation ↗, even though I know that, you know, with the projection and the fifty five point team total and they should score, you know, solid seven, eight touchdowns. We want to know where they're coming from. You know, it's just it's just a really like these blowouts can sometimes get get pretty wonky where they are because we just don't know. Who they're going to and what's going on.

31:23

I think it leaves itself a little bit more to a GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool)A GPP is a tournament whose prize pool is guaranteed to pay out in full even if the contest does not fill. Payouts are steep: a small group at the top wins most of the money. Before you enter a tournament lineup, ask how it finishes first, not just how it cashes. If you cannot name that scenario, rebuild it.Full explanation ↗ type build, which Hannan could talk about from that perspective. Yeah, I don't have anything to say about Ball State. Jeremiah Smith is super interesting because he's not going to get there on volume. He's going to get there on super efficiency and being the best wide receiver in college football. I just, man, I don't quite know. Like what to do with him.

31:50

Like I really like him, but you are like kind of dependent on him getting like a lot saying like he's probably going to project super well. He won't be the top quarterback on the slate by any means, but I just think for him to unlock his ceiling, he has to be like double stacked. But I also don't really want to play a stack without Jeremiah Smith and saying and that's super hard to do.

32:17

And then, you know, behind Jeremiah Smith, this whole group of the next four guys on that list are wide receivers. Nate Roberts is a tight end. There's no depth chart. I think those guys could flip flop kind of any which way. I mean, I'm assuming it's going to be McEwen and Ennis, like, to start. I mean, obviously, Henry, super, super big time recruit. Yeah, it's just I don't really feel warm and fuzzy about anything.

32:44

Bo Jackson, I don't see a ceiling for him at $7,500. And Isaiah West kind of got some hype throughout camp. I don't know if that's going to translate. And then, I mean, Jacobs Jackson and Legend Bay, Legend Bay might. I think he's supposed to return kicks for them. He might be more of a gadget guy. Yeah, he was an all purpose guy in Florida. So, yeah, it's... I don't know. I don't feel really good about any of it, but I want some exposure somehow.

33:16

And it's probably going to be like just rolling up my sleeves and playing a lot of Joe Pius Smith and then maybe some saying doubles, like a little bit of saying doubles. But I don't know. It's tough when you see fifty three points, but I think it all just for one touchdown and then you want none of them. So it's the efficiency where that you said, like the efficiency versus volume.

33:40

And from the signaling cash perspective, if we're looking at volume, it's hard to count on it. Efficiency, sure, but the volume aspect really makes it challenging. Yeah, and I don't think Ohio State's going to dupe any of their future opponents necessarily, but there's a couple of ways you could look at this too and say, hey, they want to get Sam back to the Heisman ceremony and have Jeremiah Smith go with him.

34:01

On the same token, maybe they feed McQueen, Ennis, Henry in this cake matchup and be like, hey, Michigan, you're going to have to guard these guys too. I don't think it's going to take a ton of attention off of Jeremiah Smith, but it's going to make people think twice about doubling him exclusively. Or scheming up just for Jeremiah Smith. It's the same story we hear with Ohio, or need with Ohio State every single year. Last year it was Tate.

34:28

It is a new OC for the NFL people. Arthur Smith is the offensive coordinator. Brian Hartline left to be the head coach of South Florida. So it is Arthur Smith calling the plays for the offense here. I know NFL guys shudder when you hear that. Hey, I'm a Falcons fan. I know all about Art Smith, dude. Right?

34:50

All right so uh yeah that's a good good lead into our NFL people who are just hungry for football tuning in and playing college football these first couple of weeks uh tulane at duke look at this guys we have a competitive game uh on paper should say on paper uh zion chris vermillion is in from Houston uh we talked about like internally that red's laugh ran on duke fine last year uh chris vermillion is a mobile quarterback And then we had some news from Tulane today.

35:24

Is it McClure is not going to play in the running back room? So, I mean, I think that just tells me that it's going to be a three running back rotation instead of a four, potentially. And then Anthony Brown-Stevens, Zycar Lewis, guys back from last year, both guys that had some potential. And I think Zycar Lewis, like, broke a slate one week last year. Like, he had two touchdowns or something ridiculous like that.

35:48

But on the Duke side, we're bringing up San Jose State again because Walker E gets in from San Jose State. We know when he was there, he chucked that pigskin. He had stellar targets in Danny Scudero, who kind of duped us all last night with his, oh, he's good to go. But then he was hobbling around in the second half. Anyway, that's not Saturday. That's yesterday. Okay. We're looking forward.

36:13

Walker Egan at $6,700, though, is a really nice price on a slate that's hungry for quarterback value. Nate Shepard is a stud. He got sniped at the goal line quite a bit last year. It's it's I don't think it's going to happen. I think they're going to feed him a little bit more. You got to you got to hope for some of that negative aggression. And then Jared Richardson in from the Ivy League. He was a stud at Penn.

36:36

Javon Nicholas is in from Charlotte. Jeremiah Haisley is a name that has been at Duke.

36:42

A name that name that sticks out to me um but I like this seems like one of those games you can you can stack up a few different ways because it's going to be competitive yeah absolutely I I really think this game's kind of sneaky um I wish we had like a little more concrete info on the tolane side um I I really like uh I'm gonna call him zcg um a quarterback I as

37:09

Like a uh LeverageLeverage is the edge you gain by rostering a play the field is underweight on, compared with how often it ends up in winning lineups. Whatever that means, I don't really know.

37:36

But I just, with McClure out of the picture, I feel like one of these running backs could be okay. I just can't guess which one. I might sprinkle in some of those top two guys just because they might have some receiving upside being a slot back.

37:52

The receivers not super interested in and um I mean if you see ty thompson on there that is the ty thompson that used to be a five-star quarterback recruit to oregon that is now now uh tied into tulane um and then like duke love I really love Nate Shepard and hopefully the touchdown variance goes his way a little more this year without Anderson Castle. I don't know if CJ Campbell is necessarily a plus for one of Anderson Castle.

38:20

I'm sure he'll be involved to some extent, but hopefully not as much as Castle was. EGIT, I really don't think he's that talented, that being said, with a thirty point total. And I mean, he's got to only get there with his arm. I like double stacks in GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool)A GPP is a tournament whose prize pool is guaranteed to pay out in full even if the contest does not fill. 38:42

Like even at you get shepherd Richardson Richardson's the only starter without an oar um and then hasley's a tight end he's shown some ability to put up some okay fantasy games but I do like I do like I mean like a walker you get shepherd Richardson with zcj ran back like that's that's a really nice Game StackIn college football, a game stack usually combines a quarterback, his pass catchers and one or more players from the opposing offense.Target games where the spread is close as well as the total high. A high total with a lopsided spread can turn into a blowout where only one side keeps scoring.Full explanation ↗ I think in GPPs I think you can use that like in a Single-EntryA single-entry contest allows each user exactly one lineup. It can be a cash game or a tournament. In single-entry, one or two contrarian decisions are usually enough. 39:17

Gosh, I haven't tried it, but it might be possible to play Shepard, Jeremiah Smith, and Cam Cook, even doing that onslaught. So I really like this game. There's some unknowns outside of the Shepards and Richardson with these skill possessions on both sides. But yeah, I like it here. Yeah, I mean, Shepard's a known commodity. We know, we anticipate he's going to get the volume. He's going to touch the ball a lot. He was a bell cow last year. You know, he's there.

39:53

He's in the same spot. He's one of the few holders that didn't get poached from Duke. Certainly, teams tried to get him, but he's still there. And he was super productive last year. You know, a couple touchdowns go his way as opposed to Castles. He's one of the top DFS running backs we had last year. You know, he really, really was good defensively. And he was a late add to the portals, a guy who threw the ball around a lot.

40:16

Tulane's got pretty much stripped down their coaching staff, but they kept everything in-house. A lot of their, you know, when the coach left to Florida, a lot of the assistants went with them. Coordinators all went with him as well. But they did hire within house as a head coach, the old passing game coordinator. So there should be some holdovers, as you see. From Tulane's perspective, it should be a good, nice back-and-forth game. But I do like that Duke side. Hammock mentioned it.

40:42

I do like that Duke side. I think you could play some one-offs. You could play a stack in there as a cheap option to pay up for some of those better players. We said pricing is pretty tight this week. You have to make some decisions. Yeah, and I'd be remiss if I didn't mention you're defending ACC champion Duke Blue Devils. That's right. Tulane. Tulane. Yeah, but when you're scrolling, it's always going to look juicy when you see this tighter spread.

41:10

It's like you're starved for it going through the top of the stone, and then you see a seven and a half point spread. But then you don't have to scroll too much farther to see the next tight game with an even higher total. Teams that, I mean, if you like points, this is going to be the game. I think this is going to be a heavily owned game as well. DJ Lagway, the big name in from Florida.

41:33

Uh, Ian, you know, apologies in advance if he makes a Heisman run at Baylor. All the best to him. Uh, in the backfield, uh, names, we recognize Dawson Pendergrass listed as a starter, Caden Knighton, Michael Turner, both there last year. Uh, of course we get to deal with the Baylor backfield week one.

41:53

They, one of the more frustrating backfields that we've dealt with, uh, and also one of the more frustrating receiver rooms we've dealt with in the past, um, Louis Brown played four games last year and registered. He was in from San Diego state, just didn't get much run last year. Uh, Gavin Freeman is in from Oklahoma state has a ton of hype. Draylon Miller is a name that, uh, we remember from Colorado. Uh, but if we know anything about Baylor's offense, historically they've spread around.

42:17

So it's, it's going to be, um, you know, this is hopefully going to give us at least a little bit of insight into what, what the offense is going to look like this year with legway at the helm. And then at Auburn, uh, Or, you know, UCF light or USF light, USF light. Byron Brown, just criminally underpriced. I would not be surprised to see him garner fifty, sixty, seventy percent OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗, even in some of the bigger contests.

42:43

It's insane that he's he's priced here in a thirty three and a half point team total. Jeremiah Cobb, Omar Mabson both remain from Auburn last year in the backfield. Bryson Washington, yes, revenge game. But he's also on the depth chart, so we're not even sure he's going to see the field. And then Nakai Davenport was one of the top guys at USF last year. But Auburn retained some talent in their running back room, even with the coaching overhaul. The wide receiver room did not.

43:12

These are all basically USF guys. Singleton, Nimrod, Koger. If you go further down, what is it? There's Echols is another guy in from South Florida that's not even shown on the stone. Arliss Boardingham. Florida, not South Florida. Yeah, that's a Florida guy, regular Florida. And then Jake Johnson. I mean, Max and Jake Johnson are both still playing college football. I feel like they're just going to be on a team in college for the rest of our lives.

43:38

I think Brad Johnson has some eligibility left, too. Yeah, he might very well could. I bet he does. So, yeah, Ian, looking at this, I'll give you give you first.

43:47

First attack at this just you know with leg way in the Florida connection and it's it's such a this is another game that looks very cash viable this this is very cash viable I mean you talking about salaries that are very affordable you're talking about player of course split a close spread a high total You know, Baylor was the top passing team last year, and when they brought Lagway in to run them back home in a good environment to pass, they got underpriced, you know, or not underpriced, but affordable skill players at Baylor.

44:20

USF was such an offensive juggernaut the past few years. Brown was, I mean, he was, until he was on the slate, he was a cash lock, it felt like. And really good chemistry with it. It's just such a good play all top to bottom. The thing that stands out to me that I'm gonna really take interest in now, it's hard because Brown is such a, he has the ability to run for a hundred yards a game.

44:45

But Cobb being the top guy from last year and being a holdover mainstay when the offensive coordinator head coach brings in the entire old offensive skill players except keeps the high-priced freshman stud running back. I mean, that's pretty telling to the talent that he thinks Cobb has as a high-level SEC back. I think that's a testament to Cobb and his ability to see some run in this offense. Just totally attackable, just totally affordable.

45:18

Yeah, I'm sure when we're talking about players and highlighting players, we're going to see a lot of green and light blue players In this in this area here, just great game environment to see should be a very competitive game to big game for both programs. One trying to send in one trying to maintain their job. Really good, really good spot overall. Top to bottom both sides. Yeah, I mean from a GP perspective.

45:47

Like there's even really good GP plays like Pendergrass shouldn't get much ownership. I'm going to get sucked in again.

45:53

Like obviously beta running back so big pain in the ass, Pendergrass I I'm going to take this shot on him and then I might not play him again the rest of the season might be playing him at his cheapest price he's going to be for a while um there's that range of outcomes with him um these the baylor receivers like I think brown's going to garner a crap ton of ownership but freeman he's like a really good pivot and I think he could have just a solid of a role as lewis brown um draylon miller and jane porter or is in the slot Porter, $3,000 flat, will probably get played some.

46:32

But yeah, there's a zillion ways you can go there. And Auburn, I mean, you guys covered that pretty well. I don't really need to add much there. Byron Brown could be the leading rusher and passer for this team in this game, so.

46:47

That's a real nice click probably the best yeah definitely the best well yeah best play on the slate yeah given given some of the blowout run and that could cap yardage he could be the highest passer and rusher on the slate period like I don't think I guess yeah it's just scary like I mean if he's I'm guessing he's gonna be easily over forty percent owned he might even push over fifty NFL, that's like a big no-no, but he should probably be as good as like the quarterbacks kind of are on the slate.

47:17

He should probably be more owned than that. And like, it's scary because he can bury you if you take a big stand on it. So I'm just going to roll with the punches with him there. And multiply that factor out when you're talking about small entry cash kind of lineups, you know, when you compare NFL to college, like... Yeah, the ownership factor is big, but a guy like that who's got a fifty sixty floor ceiling.

47:46

Straight up, it's really hard to ignore that now he could bust and only get fifteen, but it would take a lot for him, like besides the injury, of course. Yeah. And when you're talking cash, too, if you're looking at your eleven man, your twenty three man, your thirty nine man, he's probably going to be ninety to one hundred percent owned in all of those. So. Just keep that in mind, how you approach it is different depending on what contest you're playing.

48:12

Texas State, a Texas big in-state rivalry. We're back to the blowouts, a twenty-nine and a half point spread. On the Texas State side, now part of the Pac-Twelve, they have some names that you'll recognize if you play fantasy at all. Brad Jackson was a stud last year. Both Sparks and Chris Dunn, both thousand-yard receivers. Torrence Burgess is back. Now is the lead guy with Lincoln Perry gone. But it's, I mean, I think Texas state's going to be able to score.

48:36

One thing we think about with Texas is when they had these cream puff matchups last year, they struggled in a few of them like that. What UTEP was what, twenty seven to ten or something like that when Texas played them last year. So maybe like Texas state is on the higher end of the G six early in the season. So definitely a chance for some points here. I think I think Texas still wins.

48:59

But then you got on the other side, an expensive Arch Manning.

49:04

Expensive running back well kind of expensive running backs not terrible like Hollywood Smothers is in from NC State Relique Brown's in from Arizona State Smothers seems to be the lead guy into Brown as the backup but then they're pretty high on Derek Cooper too the big recruit that they got in the backfield and in a game like this with a $4,300 price tag I don't don't mind taking some shots on him but then this wide receiver room is just stacked and packed like very top heavy with Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo.

49:36

But I think Coleman being there might actually help Wingo. He's not going to have as much attention on him. And then Mosley, just a big drop off in price for somebody who's likely going to be on the field throughout the season and hopefully in this game as well, depending on the blowout run and how quickly they take guys. But this is maybe a little bit sneakier of the blowouts. Kenny, how are you approaching the game in Texas?

50:02

Yeah, I guess kind of start with the Texas State side. I definitely have interest in the receivers, the running backs. I'm not interested in Brad Jackson. I might play some of him like with like two or three Texas runbacks and force with the wide receiver. But like these two wide receivers at the top of the list here for Texas State, like are the exact opposite of Jeremiah Smith. They're not going to get there with efficiency. They're going to get there with volume.

50:27

And I think that counts for a lot with their price tags. They're probably going to get more OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗ than I think, but I think they're in a really solid spot, um, playing catch up to Texas here. Um, Texas, like I want pieces of them. Arch is obviously fine by himself, but like, I like kind of like Cam Coleman. He's just, he's so talented. He shouldn't be that owned. Like he's definitely like third fiddle as far as the payout receivers go.

50:58

Um, And Wingo's probably overpriced. I don't know if I have as much interest in him, but he should be pretty well-owned. And then Emmitt Mosley, it wouldn't shock me if he was the best fantasy producer from this wide receiver in the room this game. I don't know. It's not like the first time I've heard that this week. He's not looking to get much ownership, but it wouldn't surprise me if he steamed up, especially considering the salary constraints that we have.

51:25

He's the cheapest Person to pair with Arch Manning.

51:28

Um it'll be curious to see where he comes in um as far as the running backs go I don't really have much interest I kind of want to wait and see there I know derek cooper's kind of had some hype I don't know if his garbage time roll here is going to be enough but really that might I don't know that might be the one I would take a shot on but I don't know if I'm going to take a shot on any of them I just kind of like arch and the pass catchers or maybe our skin to go with his legs a little bit too knocks those running backs back but This is definitely one where you can play both sides, I think.

52:04

Yeah, Arch has that value. Not too much to add there. Texas is in a similar spot to Ohio State. Much better opponent. Kind of spread out. We'll see what they have. Kind of like Arch, you said, pass catchers for some value. But the interesting thing that stood out to me, Texas State did move out to the Pac-Twelve. They retained, for a group of six teams, they retained a ton of talent.

52:28

They returned basically all their skills, which is pretty unheard of for a successful offensive team. Texas State is. So that is pretty intriguing because I do expect them to play four quarters. Obviously, Texas, Texas State game means something. They're really close by. They're like down the street from each other. And those guys have some experience and they're playing up. They're talented. So would not ignore those guys at all when it comes to that perspective.

52:59

Yeah, and one thing I was thinking about while you guys were talking is that you could almost look at Cam Coleman like you're getting a discount because he's thirteen hundred cheaper than Jeremiah Smith. And it's a realistic possibility that they push each other for the highest wide receiver score on the slate as well. So it's all about your approach. If you look at it like, hey, I can't get Jeremiah Smith, but Coleman saves me thirteen hundred dollars.

53:21

It's a lot different than, you know, whoa, I got to pay $7,300 for Cam Coleman. It really just comes down to the build and what your lineup structure looks like. Before we get to this next competitive game, drop a like. We love doing these shows, and really that's all we ask for is for you to like while you're watching. It really helps us out. 53:43

And also, if you are listening later on one of our podcast services, I don't know if you guys know this, we're on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, across the board. Drop us a rating there, especially if it's going to be five stars. Boston College at Cincinnati, the last competitive game on the slate, but could get overlooked just due to the fact that there's not as many familiar names. Because Mabson McKenzie, BC's starter, is in from Saginaw Valley.

54:11

Decent at the FCS level, four to three hundred passing and sixteen hundred rushing across the equivalent of two seasons. But he was actually in high school. He was more of a runner. So we might have some dual threat in a game that. You know, they're not favored, but they're not playing like the biggest of big P four schools. These are two lower end P four schools. So McKenzie at $6,100 is just some nice salary relief. Evan Dixon, Evan Dickens is in from Liberty.

54:41

He's expected to lead a charge. But Bo McCormick and Nolan Ray will likely split that RB to Ray is in from Maryland. And then in the wide receiver room, Reed Swanson, six, six, two hundred ten pound receiver in from Colgate. If you guys played fantasy football in years past, you'll remember this name because he torched Syracuse, even though they got smoked. Like he had a hundred and fifty yards and a touchdown or something ridiculous like that.

55:06

He was the one saving grace for Colgate in that game. Then Jaden Skeet's a familiar name. Jackson Wade is one that Florida fans are familiar with. Javarius Green's in from North Carolina. These guys are cheap. Like that's what I'll say. They have a three touchdown total and they're super cheap and they're probably going to get overlooked because it's daggum Boston College. Cincinnati on the other side, JC French from Georgia Southern. He's put up huge numbers in fantasy in the past.

55:33

It's the age-old question, will it translate to the P-IV? I think Boston College being the first matchup is a good transition. And then the running backs, it's kind of a four-Person race. This is one that you're going to read different things depending on where you look, what source you have. Zylan Perry's in from Louisiana. He was a stud at the G six level. Zion Johnson is one of the guys that Cincinnati retained. Jabron Payne is in from Notre Dame. Cole Tab's in from Michigan.

55:59

I've seen some sources say Tab's a starter. Some say Payne's a starter. Some say Perry ran away with it. So this running back room, while if you get the right guy, it could be great, is probably going to be a wait and see for me. And then In the wide receiver room, JV Gibson is Giovanni Gibson. I hyped him up a ton last year when he was at Oklahoma. Never came to fruition. And then Isaiah Johnson is a guy who looks like the number two.

56:28

Lorenzo Fenner is another guy that has, depending on where you look, he's a starting wide receiver or he's the first off the bench. Gavin Grover a tight end. He seems to have that solidified. And then we have Malachi Henry. And then Cade Wolford in from Kent State, who was kind of a gadget guy receiver that could also run the ball.

56:44

I got a lot of talent and in the Mac, will it translate to P four in another competitive game and one that might go a little bit more overlooked? Yeah, definitely. It's kind of a lower toll for the slate given just the outside, just the games on it. A lot of question marks, a lot of changing places, not a lot of returning skill players.

57:09

I wish we had more answers and questions for some of these games because they are the affordable targets that could allow us to pay up in some spots we want to. French is interesting, he just was a really good producer in the past at DFS and was on a lot of slaves because of the weekday games. You know, Gibson dropping down, he has a lot of talent, you know, from Oklahoma coming down. So the Cincinnati side is interesting from that perspective.

57:34

I just wish we had some more answers on both sides as to who it is, because there will be guys who will do really well. It's really hard to project who that is when you don't have, you know, when you have all this turnover with a lack of depth charts and some experience. It just, it's really good for GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool)A GPP is a tournament whose prize pool is guaranteed to pay out in full even if the contest does not fill. Payouts are steep: a small group at the top wins most of the money. Before you enter a tournament lineup, ask how it finishes first, not just how it cashes. If you cannot name that scenario, rebuild it.Full explanation ↗ actions because we know that there are going to be guys who take off that make it affordable.

57:56

Really hard to project volume, though, for some of the games, the smaller entry, Single-EntryA single-entry contest allows each user exactly one lineup. It can be a cash game or a tournament. In single-entry, one or two contrarian decisions are usually enough. Pair a strong, popular core with a lower-owned piece instead of fading everything the field likes.Full explanation ↗ type plays. Yeah, this game was kind of a carbon copy from a Vegas spread and total perspective as Tulane Duke. I guess it's taking shots on each side, kind of like what you guys touched on. McKenzie, I think you can play by himself. I don't think you have to force a pairing there.

58:24

And French has always kind of been known as a passer, but I don't think you have to do it there just because of the unknown. I still don't know how I'm going to really attack this game from it, like how I'm going to Game StackIn college football, a game stack usually combines a quarterback, his pass catchers and one or more players from the opposing offense.Target games where the spread is close as well as the total high. A high total with a lopsided spread can turn into a blowout where only one side keeps scoring.Full explanation ↗ from a GBP perspective. I almost don't really like any of these guys as one-offs.

58:41

I want these guys to CorrelationCorrelation describes how two players' fantasy scores move together. Positively correlated players tend to have big games at the same time, usually because one player's success directly adds points for the other. When you build a tournament lineup, ask which of your players need the same thing to happen. The more of them that do, the higher your lineup's ceiling.Full explanation ↗ with each other, even like a JC French with Reed Swanson or Evan Dickens or something goofy like that. These Cincy running backs... Obviously, it's a big or. I'm not going to take any shots on Perry. The other couple guys, they're cheap enough to where if I feel like I get enough clarification, which is kind of unlikely, this is an afternoon game as well, that I will play one of those guys.

59:12

Yeah, and then, I mean, JV Gibson Supposed to be the guy, but I'm not fully sold. Cincinnati's just, they're tough to predict, even when we do have info. So yeah, it's fun to stack up, but there's those question marks.

59:31

Yeah, this is one of those games I feel like, yeah, you're going to see somebody with a flame or multiple guys with flames and one percent OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Full explanation ↗ because the industry is probably going to attack it like we do to a certain extent where You get a little bit scared of the unknown. But if you're willing to take that shot on a guy or two, it could be something that makes a difference for you. Definitely some GPP interest.

59:57

Reed Swanson's a guy I might even consider for cash and single entry just because of his price. And we need to find some of this value if we want our studs. Speaking of studs, this game has a few. We're back to two blowouts, and then we'll wrap this thing up. Boise State at Oregon. Neither team is releasing a depth chart. They're holding their ground. Big news, Boise State. Really, really strong. Maddox Madsen will be the starting quarterback. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Maybe one of these guys can emerge.

1:00:37

I know, I know like they're really good pass catchers too. And it just takes one screen pass for a guy. It's sub $6,000 to get a good chunk of points and get you where you need to be the wide receiver room. This is one that a lot of cheap guys, but I think there's guys I have listed in my notes that could be out there on the field, catching passes. Uh, one guy on the mentioned is Ray Sean Jones.

1:01:00

He's one of those guys are looking at as an immediate impact freshmen. Um, Kiawe Brown is the same way at tight end, but I think it's going to be Matt Warner taking that spot. On the Oregon side, there are names you all know. Dante Moore is back, probably poised for a Heisman run. Davison and Hill are going to likely be the one-two punch in the backfield.

1:01:23

I mean, they do have Brandon Smith, who's a four-star true freshman, but then Simon Price and DeJuan Riggs, Price in from Colorado Riggs, you know, dealing with availability report issues the last couple of seasons. And then the wide receiver room, Decorian Moore, stud freshman last year, dealt with a little bit of injury. Evan Stewart dealt with a lot of bit of injury. He's back. I think those two being on the field together will help each other.

1:01:46

And Jamari Johnson would have been the starting tight end last year if it wasn't for a guy named Kenyon Sadiq. Jeremiah McClellan, wide receiver one or two on a ton of programs in college football, just happens to be wide receiver three by nature of this roster here. Other guys to keep an eye on, four-star Masai Hampton, four-star Gatlin Bear, depending on where you look, five-star Jalen Lott, and then a five-star tight end freshman Kendri Harris. These pass catchers are freaking loaded.

1:02:16

They are loaded, but it's hard to look past. Moore, Stewart coming off injury, might be a little slower, and Jamari Johnson because, you know, those guys were – Stewart, he would have been if he was not hurt. But, you know, talking to Corey and Moore and Jamari Johnson, those guys were locked and loaded last year, even with Sadiq on the field. And Dante Moore already has that built in. And they're not really crazy priced considering what they are. So definitely playable in that.

1:02:44

And it's, you know, Boise State's obviously one of the better group of six teams that we have. So you could expect to see, it could be a blowout. They could be a little bit more competitive. They're vets too. They got players there too. Madsen's been around for a long time. They won a lot of big games. So it'll be a little bit more competitive. It could be a blowout. But I do like, I think there's some serious value on the receiver side of Oregon.

1:03:12

Yeah, for me, I'm not interested in Boise State with the unknowns. And then Oregon, I have very minimal interest in Oregon. I feel like Oregon's – and Boise State's a respectable opponent, but I feel like Oregon's going to give us a USC thing here, and there's just going to be a zillion different guys playing. I don't mind one-offs, but I will not be stacking Oregon. I think that's a bad play, even with the huge total.

1:03:40

Like as far as we know dewan riggs could be the best running back like I would like I just I that's the vibe I'm getting off this but yeah I'll kind of just wrap it up with that that's pretty pretty clean cut for me yeah and like the guys I listed off the seventh wide receiver on oregon's roster would probably be a one or two at boise state so that's that's the kind of spread we could be dealing with in terms of ball usage uh So, yeah, thirty eight points is a lot.

1:04:07

Maybe that means you just go with Dante Moore. But, you know, maybe Dylan Rayola plays the whole second half and you'll get to reminisce. Hamwich of the days of old. He's priced up to $7,700. Dylan Rayola is a backup. DK does that all the time, though. The backup is not that much cheaper than the starter. Yeah, that's probably worth that price. But all right. Now to the last game of the slate. Marshall at Iowa State. We have. Oh, Penn State.

1:04:35

Marshall at Penn State. We'll get to the Penn State side in a moment. We do have a lot of question marks on the Marshall side. Not a quarterback, though. Carlos Del Rio Wilson is going to be the starter. The only interesting thing I'll say about him is that he is dual threat. I mean, he's solid. In media this week, he said, quote, the old Marshall is back, and I know our guys are going to try harder than they did last year.

1:05:03

I really don't know what the – That's an extreme shot. I don't know what that means. Like, did they skate through last year? Or maybe are we going to see him chucking it downfield? Do they have a Randy Moss in this wide receiver room? Is he the next Chad Pennington? I don't know. Joe Sean Barbie, Judah Price are going to be the guys in the backfield in all likelihood. Don't love the spot here.

1:05:23

Although if I am Marshall, this is exactly when I would want to get Penn State. Like first game of the season, still trying to figure it out. The one caveat being is that Most of the guys on Penn State already have chemistry. The wide receiver, Demarcus Lacy, would have been their number one, but he is ruled ineligible. Chris Collier in from North Carolina. Adrian Norton was a big touchdown guy, but he's priced up a little bit.

1:05:47

Toby Payne's a tight end if you think those short dump-offs are going to be a big thing for Marshall. But most of this interest is going to be on the Penn State side because honestly, they're kind of priced like Iowa State, which makes sense, but Rocco Beck notoriously in the $6,000 range last year does get some respect at seven five.

1:06:06

Carson Hansen is the one guy who's expensive, but for good reason, if they feed him like they did last year as RB one, James people's probably going to work in, uh, in from Ohio state. And we could see Martin and Wallace as well. And then look in the wider sea room, kind of like the USF guys at Auburn. We have Iowa state guys at Penn state, uh, Ben Bramer, Brett Eskilsen, Chase Soule, Gabe Burkle. Um, and then, you know, a mix Andrews Rapalia.

1:06:34

I don't know. I don't know that we're going to be calling his name a ton with Bramer and Burkle there, but the chemistry is what sticks out to me for Penn State. That's really where my interest lies in this game. What say you, Kenny? I guess I don't mind, like, the rushing of CDRW.

1:06:53

You know, as we're kind of talking through this slate, like, gosh, there is just a lot of, like, it's like we have Byron Brown and then a lot of, like, Other guys that you can poke holes in. But I think that's kind of good, like, because Brian Brown's going to be so ChalkChalk is the most popular, highly owned play on a slate. The term comes from sports betting, where the favorite is called the chalk.Don't label chalk good or bad. Ask whether each popular play deserves its ownership, then decide which chalk you'll eat and which you'll fade.Full explanation ↗ and there's a lot of options that are going to be lower owned. Kind of off track there. But Penn State, I actually do have a fair amount of interest in Rocco Bett.

1:07:18

I just, he, sometimes he can, like, just really absorb a ton of usage. I don't think you need to pair him with any of these receivers, as we've kind of seen in Iowa State. Don't mind mixing in some Esteldin and Sol, though. And then the running backs, I'm kind of intrigued. I'm not really interested in Carlson Hansen, but Peoples I kind of am. I don't think Peoples is all that talented, but definitely have seen two running backs work before. I don't know.

1:07:53

I might take some shots on Peoples. I'm still kind of going through it. But, yeah, Beck for sure, and then kind of question marks otherwise.

1:08:03

Yeah, I would just look at this game and be like, if this was Marshall against Iowa State last year, and it was a you know maybe eighteen point spread and they had a team total of thirty one maybe seventeen point spread how would you treat it would you want to play Hansen at this price you probably consider it would you want to play back at this price you'd probably consider it you know uh sold you know any of those past cashers you probably think about it and that's how I look at it here I mean yeah they're playing happy valley which is gonna be a little bit different but I don't know.

1:08:35

These guys are paid now. I feel like they have so much experience. These guys have been in college for so long. Rocco Beck's dad was in the NFL. I don't know, playing Happy Valley versus playing in Ames, Iowa is going to be how much of a big difference that's going to be for that.

1:08:49

So I would just treat this as if I was looking at them, Iowa State last year, and I think they're all in consideration at their price points if you're trying to fill out like a one-off here or there because, again, it's chemistry. It's built in, and we know where that volume is going to go, and Hanson's going to touch the ball, and we know Beck likes those three guys at receiver.

1:09:10

Yeah, and I don't think playing in Happy Valley versus Aims is going to make a difference for these Penn State guys. For Marshall, it might make a difference because I think these fans are excited for a breath of fresh air after James Franklin could never beat top-rated opponents. It's just excitement. Because right now, Penn State has a chance at the CFP and National Championship because everybody's O and O, obviously, other than the teams that have played the select few already this year.

1:09:34

But Yeah. And with James Peoples, I mean, you think Penn State, you think two running backs, obviously new coaching staff, but you think Iowa State last year and they ran two running backs quite a bit as well. So you're looking at the discount. Iowa State last year, Texas Tech last year, Penn State last year. If you have a dual running back room, two guys that are going to go look at the value. All right.

1:09:56

So that's going to do it for the slate overall. I do want to take a moment to touch on one of the new tools at Ship It Nation, the Stone 2.0.O, and you're going to get a sneak peek into tonight's slate, Friday. Just what I'll say about this is how simple it is. It has our two stones, the Stoner and the Stone 2.0.O talk to each other. So the Stone 2.0.O is going to have all of the coloring.

1:10:17

So if you're playing cash, you just want to look at the cash consideration guys, boom, all of them are there right in front of you. You don't have to sift through anything.

1:10:24

If you're looking for those two to three guys that have the upside, but maybe not the floor, boom this is what's going to differentiate you and then if you're an mme and you have you know two three guys locked in and you want those GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool)A GPP is a tournament whose prize pool is guaranteed to pay out in full even if the contest does not fill. 1:10:50

Fill in the rest for you so it's great for hand building it's great just to have all of the information in front of you All the way up to what time the game starts, an underrated part of daily fantasy sports, how you're going to plan your lineups, knowing that if something happens, you need to have a plan for those later games. Just all different ways you can sort it. You can even look, are they on the road or are they at home?

1:11:11

All the information you need right in front of you, super simple. All right, before we get out of here, there's a sneak peek at the colored stone too. Just another until you get a Ship It Nation. Like I said, now's the time to do it.

1:11:22

Whether you want to go in all season, whether you want to go in for a month and test it out, or just if you have a twenty dollar Bill in your pocket, you can get five days of Ship It Nation and still have change left over. I don't think you can pay us cash, though. I don't think we have that. We'll send a carrier pigeon. But as we close out, any final thoughts on Saturday's slate as we get out of here?

1:11:46

College football is king this weekend. Let's enjoy it. We got some great football, some really good matchups. Starving for it. Great slate. It's a really, really, really good week one slate. Really a lot of good decisions to make. It's going to be fun building it. It's going to be fun playing. Let's have some fun. Go Big Red. That's it. There you go. Yeah. I mean, technically, they're half game behind the Gophers right now. Gophers are leading the Big Ten.

1:12:12

I am ready for the new era of Florida football. That's for sure. Yeah, I mean, as fans were excited, as DFS players were excited, we don't care about blowouts because there's still going to be fantasy points across the board. So that leads into what we always close with here on the Ship It Nation show. Degenerate Seventy-Five, the big guy's rule number one, college football is fun. Enjoy the sweat. Enjoy building your lineups.

1:12:36

Be thankful that college football is back and we have a weekend full of it and we get to watch it all on our TVs. You hope for green, but just remember to enjoy watching college football and not take any of these days for granted because we never know which one's going to be our last. So let's get out of here. See you in the CFB streets, everybody. Let's go out and ship one for the big guy.
