The Short Version

Eric Schneck breaks down Talladega with place differential as the priority, leaving dominators out of the build. Ryan Blaney and Austin Cindric are cash-game staples starting 27th and 28th, but neither is immune to an early wreck. Build primarily from 20th on back, spread exposure across those drivers, and avoid getting attached to one chalk play. Drivers starting closer to the front are only small tournament sprinkles.

AJ Allmendinger gets a strong endorsement starting 37th, with Ty Dillon a possible teammate pairing because they should pit together. Erik Jones and other less popular drivers starting deep offer alternatives to the chalk. Brad Keselowski is a potential underweight at projected 25% ownership, with better place differential available behind him. Manufacturer groupings are another way to differentiate some lineups, and there is no need to spend the full salary cap.

FadesChase Briscoe, Austin Hill, Connor Zilisch, Shane van Gisbergen, Chris Buescher, Christopher Bell, Alex Bowman, Ty Gibbs, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson, Cody Ware, Austin Dillon, Daniel Suarez, Riley Herbst

Tambo's great. Hoop's great. Nades is great. Rio's great. Marley's great. BG Little Neck's great. I'm definitely missing people great. Hoop's great. If I said Hoop twice, Hoop, you're great. But if you just want to join the nation just for little old me, click on NASCAR. Oh my God, look at that. Folks, ShipItNation.com. Everything you need for success with DFS for less. Join the nation. ShipItNation.com. Football season, we are in full swing. NASCAR, we are unfortunately winding up. But basketball, we're here, baby. I'm working my first basketball data slate this afternoon, today, tonight. I don't even know what time the games are. And I'm looking forward to that. Hockey is here. Baseball playoffs are happening. Golf, still happening. I got to be honest, I really don't follow golf this time of year.

3:53

And I saw an update from the editor that round four PGA projections have been updated. And I was like, oh, my goodness, we're still golfing. So golf is still in full swing. We had Saturday morning MMA yesterday. It ended in the early late afternoon. But, of course, the boys are on top of that. So, like I said, Shippernation.com, everything you need. To have success with DFS for less, not to mention Discord. Discord is the best. So join the nation. You'll love it.

4:23

I think you'll love it. I'm pretty sure you'll love it. Look at this. There they are. The boys. TTT, Triple T, Hoop. Look at this website. Gosh. Good job. All right. Let me go ahead and go back to this tab so I can log back in to ShipItNation.com.

Because we're gonna use the Stone 2.0 point oh as our tool today let me get that up here here we go uh perfect uh so today it is the yellow wood pressure treated pine five hundred at talladega super speedway there's like a hundred and thirty one dominator points or something like that up for grabs we don't care about those at all DominatorsDominators are NASCAR drivers who earn a large share of fantasy points from leading laps or recording fastest laps, meaning the quickest time among drivers on a particular lap. An unusually poor qualifying result can create an opportunity, while weak race pace or an unresolved mechanical problem can undermine it.Read the full definition of Place Differential. The only thing that matters is place differential because the big one, the big one, can and often does happen at this style of racetrack. What is this style of racetrack?

5:41

I would assume at this point of the year, most everybody who follows me or watches this content knows what a super speedway style race is but just in case we haven't or just in case we do have a brand new viewer super speedway racing is high speed everybody's packed together and the big one which is a major accident that can and often does take out half of the field or more can happen at literally any time I have to hit the cough button one moment

6:22

Professional broadcaster baby um the big one can and often does happen at any time at any time and with it being so spread out Fastest LapsA fastest lap goes to the driver who posts the quickest time on a given lap of the race. And really no one in the top ten, top fifteen are really in play today because we are stacking the back. We are simply, simply, simply, simply focusing on place differential.

And a lot of people, myself included, sort of consider this a wild card slash lottery type SlateIn NASCAR DFS, a slate usually covers one race rather than several team matchups. A lot of people love these type of slates, like Ram Racing, who is a very popular member in our Discord channel, very active member. These are his favorite slates of the year. He literally looks forward to these slates the most, right? So it is very wildcard-esque. It is very lottery-esque, but...

7:30

You can build smartly to play the lottery right you can you can you can do this you know the educated way and and hope to cash or you can just throw sticks into a wall so we take the education route uh and let me go ahead and pull up the stone and on these super speedway slates I really don't care showing your ProjectionsDFS projections estimate a player's fantasy points for an upcoming slate using expected opportunities, performance and the contest's scoring rules. 8:00

Quite literally, there's forty cars in this race today. Forty. Thirty-seven of them have a legitimate shot to win this race today. And that's not an exaggeration like by any stretch of the imagination. Out of forty cars, quite literally thirty-seven of them have a legitimate shot to win the race today.

8:25

Now, the Vegas odds reflect that no there's some crazy odds those crazy odds some of those crazy odds people have a just a shot as like ryan blaney denny hamlin chase briscoe whoever of winning this race today and that's the truth that's the truth so we're gonna go ahead and break down this full field I'm gonna cough again god dang

8:54

It's uh it's seven oh four in the morning as I'm doing this I've only had one cup of coffee uh and we have a brand new dog in the house I'm not sure if you saw on Discord we adopted a three-year-old dog yesterday so uh we've been up a little bit earlier than normal this morning so apologies for having to mute all the time but anyway top fifteen you could pretty much cross off from fifteen on twenty maybe play one and then focus everything else from twentieth on back like that's that's the name of the game and some of these crazy high ownership plays like I want to say Ryan Blaney what's he currently projected at ownership wise sorry Forty five percent ownership.

9:46

He can get new an accident in the big one within the first fifteen laps, just like anybody else can. And that forty five percent OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Projected ownership is an estimate made before lock; actual ownership is posted once the contest locks.Ownership isn't something to avoid; it's something to build around. The goal is understanding how the field is likely to build, then finding your edge relative to that.Read the full definition of Ownership goes down the drain. So my my biggest things for the day is focus on Place DifferentialPlace differential is a driver’s scored starting position minus their finishing position. You gain fantasy points when the driver finishes ahead of that starting spot and lose points when they finish behind it.Check why a driver starts deep. An unusually poor qualifying result can create an opportunity, while weak race pace or an unresolved mechanical problem can undermine it.Read the full definition of Place Differential, focus on stacking the back. You will hear that today via NASCAR gambling talking heads, especially the DFS talking heads. But my advice is don't fall in love with one particular play. Like Ryan Blaney, Austin Sindrick, Tyler Reddick, they're your chalk cash plays of the game.

10:17

They're great. They're awesome at super speedways. They could have any chance to win just like anybody else. But you know what? So does Zane Smith. So does Ty Dillon. So does Eric Jones. So does Todd Gilliland. Hell, Daniel Dye, while he's in a shitbox, he's not in that bad of a shitbox, right?

10:37

Like, if these accidents happen and these other cars make it through and the ChalkChalk is the most popular, highly owned play on a slate. The term comes from sports betting, where the favorite is called the chalk.Don't label chalk good or bad. Ask whether each popular play deserves its ownership, then decide which chalk you'll eat and which you'll fade.Read the full definition of Chalk doesn't, and you're a little bit overweight on these you know less than popular place differential plays you're in the catbird seat like this is what today is like today if anybody tries to like give you like legitimate true strategy for today's race like like we like you know we got to focus on on grabbing you know denny in ninth and pair him with with c bell and six then we're gonna like it's it's it's it's a it's wild card It's Talladega.

11:10

It's super speedway. Not to mention it's the chase. Like there's now like, like Larson shit the bed last week. And now there's like literally seven cars in, in the fight for this NASCAR championship. So not only do you have the heightened stakes of the chase, this is the last true shot a lot of these teams have to win this season, right?

11:33

Like I don't want to point to Zane Smith, but someone like a Zane Smith, he's not going to win Martinsville and he ain't going to win Homestead. Right. Like, sorry, Zane. Like this is like this is their shot. This is their shot to end the season good. So just play smartly. Don't like don't fall in love with one particular chalk play and just try to spread the love to everybody from like twentieth on back.

12:01

If you're playing a hundred and fifty GPP (Guaranteed Prize Pool)A GPP is a tournament whose prize pool is guaranteed to pay out in full even if the contest does not fill. So let's go ahead and break down the starting lineup. And I'm going to move this over here and I'm going to move stream yard over here. Perfect.

12:35

Starting Starting PositionStarting position is a driver's assigned spot in the NASCAR starting order. They may describe different spots.Read the full definition of Starting Position and there's and there's a lot of good cars that we that we can confidently cross off uh including like some of my like favorite super speedway plays so chase briscoe starting on the pole he ain't playing him he's on a hot streak though would not surprise me to see him lead a ton of the opening portion I I imagine this race is going to be in spurts of boring and then spurts of excitement Yesterday's Xfinity race was kind of all boring until, like, the very end.

13:11

I don't think we're going to have that today. I think it's going to be spurts of boring followed by, like, random spurts of, like, chaos is what I think we're going to get today. Chase Briscoe is starting on the pole. I think he'll lead a lot. We won't be playing him. Austin Hill is like the NASCAR O'Reilly Series Super Speedway goat. Yeah. This would probably be his his shot. Only true shot to win a cup race this season. We're not playing him.

13:41

His odds, though, plus $2,500. It's kind of juicy road to Connor Zilich and SVG. Zero interest in them. Zilich is having the season from hell.

13:53

Uh svg has proven when he starts up front he can stay up front so I would assume he would be uh in and around the top uh portion of the field all day today but this isn't like a mile and a half this is a super speedway so who the hell knows we're not playing him anyway uh chris busher and christopher bell uh bush are really good at uh at super speedways Not playing him today. Seabell has been on fire recently.

14:18

Not so great at Super Speed Boys. We're not playing him. Alex Bowman and Ty Gibbs. We're not playing them either. Ty Gibbs plus $2,000. I think it's kind of high for his odds to win. But hey, Denny Hamlin and Tyler Larson. Hey, they're in the points battle. This is probably Denny's. Denny's probably licking his lips today to hopefully take back the points lead. But for our purposes, we're not playing them.

14:48

And that probably really, I mentioned Ram Racing earlier in the show. He's a huge Tyler Larson fan. So the fact that he can probably confidently cross out Tyler Larson, I'm not sure if that makes his building better or worse. But yeah, you can confidently cross out Larson from your place today. Eleventh and twelfth, Cody Ware and Austin Dillon. Look, Cody Ware is like he's like a super speedway staple. Right. Like because he always starts in like the thirties or near their back.

15:18

And then there's Rex happens and he gets through them and he finishes positively. Right. We're not playing him today. And that feels really, really weird. So Cody Ware.

15:30

Bye you're not on the list today uh austin dylan he's also really good at super speedways uh he's also rex really big at super speedways um he's not on the list today mi amigo and riley herbst not on the list today uh riley herbst at being plus what $1,000 $10,000 that's kind of crazy um He's in a fast Toyota. He's a lame duck going to a new team next season. Yeah, he should, I don't know.

16:05

That could be a good betting choice for those who like to bet. Not saying that's going to happen, but I don't know. That just doesn't seem right to me. Ross Chastain and Joey Logano. Here is where you start to consider adding players to your pool. All right, so track house racing, we ignored SVG and Conor Zilich starting up here. Ross Chastain starting at fifth. Might want to consider it. Joey Logano, William Byron, Joey Logano, Team Penske, fantastic plate racer.

16:36

A lot of positive vibes around the Logano family this week. They had a very heartwarming story where they adopted two children. Very, very, actually very sweet. So a lot of positivity around the Logano family today paired with an excellent plate racer. And he's in the points hunt. Let me... Sorry, guys. I normally know this stuff off the top of my head, but there's a lot of racing I talk about during the week, so sometimes I forget.

17:02

Yeah, Joey Logano is very firmly in the points hunt. The points are Larson is leading, Seabell's in second, Berisco third, Hamlin fourth, Blaney fifth, Logano sixth, Redick seventh. Those are the top seven who all, in theory, have a chance to win the NASCAR championship because there's a fifty six point gap between first place Larson and seventh place Redick. So and Larson runs great at super speedways, doesn't finish the best at super speedways.

17:34

So will be interesting to see how this points battle shapes out at the end of the day. Anyway, Lugano is still in the hunt. I think that is what makes him a worthy click for your Player PoolA player pool is the set of players you consider using in your DFS lineups for a slate, the games or events included in a contest. Everyone's racing for a win. He's racing for a win and a championship, right? William Byron, he's fantastic here. He's in the chase, but he's down in fourteenth, so he has no shot to win.

18:06

They're looking for any chance. Kind of positivity so give him a sprinkle chase elliott really good at super speedways uh him and hosavar came out this week and said hey don't vote for us for most popular driver instead vote for Tyler bush so in that case you guys should consider Chase Elliott for your player pool.

18:28

No, if we're considering Lugano and Byron, of course you would consider Chase Elliott because, hey, he'll probably get a little bit more OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. Is currently not projected to get the ownership as those literally above him, meaning Elliott, Byron, and Logano. Need I remind you, Ryan Preece quite literally won Daytona not that long ago to get into the playoffs. RFK is in turmoil right now, right?

19:00

So, yeah, why wouldn't you play Ryan Preece in ninth? If you're playing literally anybody above him, why wouldn't you play Ryan Preece? Why wouldn't you play Ryan Preece above those drivers? So... Like Logano, it has a true shot for the championship. Ryan Priest is just trying to have some positivity. So, hey, why not? Cole Custer and Josh Berry. Sure. Cole Custer is in like an affiliated Hendrick car. It's just like a super slow affiliated Hendrick car.

19:26

But it's still faster and has a chance to win today. So, yeah, to Cole Custer. Josh Berry. Yep. Wood Brothers know how to put together a championship. Super speedway car and by wood brothers I mean penske so yep uh brad keselowski he is normally a automatic click when he starts in and around this position a lot of negativity around brad keselowski right now so remember how I said there's a lot of positivity around joey logano currently Not the same can be said for Mr.

20:02

Kozlowski. Not only is Mr. Kozlowski leaving Roush Fenway Kozlowski at the end of the year, meaning he is, uh, he's getting rid of the team, his OwnershipOwnership is the percentage of lineups in a contest that include a given player. And then it came out this week that him and his wife are getting a divorce.

20:29

So should any of that play in your mind of playing him today that's not for me to say but he hasn't necessarily been setting the world on fire lately he's starting in twenty seconds so it's not like there's not copious amounts of better Place DifferentialPlace differential is a driver’s scored starting position minus their finishing position. An unusually poor qualifying result can create an opportunity, while weak race pace or an unresolved mechanical problem can undermine it.Read the full definition of Place Differential plays past him and let's be honest the man has a lot on his mind so This could be a spot where you could get different. I think he's projected. Yeah, he's projected currently at twenty five percent ownership.

21:07

Maybe I'll have ten. Right. Maybe I'll have zero. I don't know. He's excellent at this style of racetrack. He's he obviously is looking for some kind of positivity, but the man has tough on his mind. For sure. Mike Mack and Ricky Stenhouse. Yeah, sure. I wish they were starting deeper, but we play them both good speedway drivers. Bubba Wallace and Josevar. Yup. Bubba Wallace won here and also has a lot of controversy here.

21:38

Uh, Carson host of our, he won here in the springtime, uh, in the very famous ride of the dente, uh, into the intimidant day scheme. Uh, he was in the, um, he hopped out of the car post-race for his post-race thing. Uh, hottest selling Lionel die cast, I think literally of like all time. Uh, I have my elite pre-ordered that I plan on flipping. It's crazy. I saw that they early released the die cast in the trailer this weekend.

22:08

Not the, uh, there's like, you can get a different couple versions of like NASCAR die cast now. And there's like an elite version, which is like the best. And there's like an arc version, which is just, I guess that the normal old die cast. Uh, and they released them in the trailer this weekend at Talladega for a hundred and twenty dollars. They're selling on eBay for like three hundred fifty bucks right now. Like, you know, man, the buzz around young hosts far is real.

22:34

23:05

Excellent super speedway racers starting twenty seventh and twenty eighth. The only thing that could be better would be if they're starting thirty seventh and thirty eighth. Right. So they will be very popular today. But hey, Eric Jones and Ty Dillon, they aren't as popular, but they should be. Are they known as excellent plate racers? No, that's not even plates anymore. Are they known as excellent drafting racers? No, probably. But can they win today? Can they get top five today? Top ten today?

23:36

Yeah. Has Ty Dillon surprised us at this style of racetrack before? Yeah. So there's no reason they shouldn't be highly considered. Same goes for Zane Smith and John Hunter Nemechek. I'm a John Hunter Nemechek hater. He's in play today, big time, as is Zane. Tyler Reddick and Casey Mears. Tyler Reddick is going to get tons of love today, as he should. Starting in the That's fantastic. Yeah. Casey Mears, he's in a shitbox. I ain't going to lie. I ain't going to lie.

24:08

But his shitbox is less shitbox than Gray Gaulding's shitbox. So should he be in your Player PoolA player pool is the set of players you consider using in your DFS lineups for a slate, the games or events included in a contest. The term can also mean everyone available to select in that contest.Keep a replacement beside each uncertain player, noting the salary and position you need. Recheck those alternatives when news changes so your shortlist still produces usable lineups.Read the full definition of Player Pool? Yeah. Should you probably go over the moon on him? Probably not, just because I worry about quite literally the speed of said car. But he should have some... You should absolutely be in your player pool and be considered. Todd Gilliland. Yeah, he's going to get a lot of love today starting on the thirty-fifth. He runs great at this style of racetrack. Yeah, Todd Gilliland.

24:37

Daniel Dye. Yeah, for sure. That Live Fast Motorsports has had some decent runs in the past. Daniel Dye, while he's a shithead, can get the job done today, right? So for sure, Daniel Dye in thirty-six. AJ Allmendinger. Yeah, I love the Dinger today. Today's a Dinger day. It's the thirty seventh of the Dinger. And look, I don't normally go with like pairing drivers.

25:04

But if you want to pair Dinger and Ty Dillon, who both race for Colleague Racing, you can almost guarantee that they're going to pit together. Right. They'll probably pit with like other Chevys who are in and around the field. Right. So like that, that could be also a way to get different. Not to quit, not to pause here before we talk about the final three.

25:26

But if you want to pair Chevys together, because we have seen like Chevys, Toyotas and Fords work together, especially in the early portions of this race. If you want to pair some of those together to make yourself a little bit different, go for it. Go for it. Now, we have also seen that bite us already. Toyota did that a couple years ago and they all messed up coming out of the pits, right? And they all wrecked. But...

25:52

That is a way to to make yourself different should it should you go all in on that process no but should you consider it just to make yourself different absolutely because that's the kind of SlateIn NASCAR DFS, a slate usually covers one race rather than several team matchups. You select from the drivers listed in that contest's eligible pool, not every driver racing across the weekend. Before building, open the contest details and check the included events, scoring period and lock rules. Do not assume two sites offer identical slates just because both call them the main slate.Read the full definition of Slate this is that's the kind of slate this is like if you went blaney syndrick smith gilliland They're all forwards, and they're all in the appropriate playing positions, right? So, like, that's feasible. You could go Dinger, Dillon, Josevar, McDowell, Stenhouse, right?

26:29

You could go Jones, Nemechek, Redick, Wallace, right? Right? Like those are feasible combinations today. Not to mention salary. I probably should have said this at the beginning. Salary is quite literally of zero importance. Zero. Zero. Does not matter. You can spend all your money. You can spend like... Like, it's that kind of craziness day-to-day. It really is. Anyway, enough of loving on the dinger. Joey Gase, yeah, he's in play today. Is he my favorite play? Absolutely not.

27:05

That car slows balls, but he's in play today. Noah Gregson, yeah, you're in play today, bud. You start with thirty-ninth. You're going to be a lot of people by first clicks. And then Ray Gaulding is starting in fortieth.

27:17

Look, he should be in your Player PoolA player pool is the set of players you consider using in your DFS lineups for a slate, the games or events included in a contest. 27:55

28:19

As of now, there are no drivers to the rear, and to be honest, I'll still announce it. It really doesn't matter because they start from their Starting PositionStarting position is a driver's assigned spot in the NASCAR starting order. In DFS, the official starting position used for scoring determines place differential, the number of positions gained or lost between the start and finish. Before lock, check both the starting position listed for scoring and any penalties sending a driver to the rear. They may describe different spots.Read the full definition of Starting Position and we're only focused on stacking the back anyway. And if they start like in the top fifteen, top twenty and they go to the rear. You still play them because you'd play them anyway.

28:42

And if they start up front and they go to the rear, you're not going to change it because they're still going to be scored as starting from the upfront. So kind of doesn't matter today. What happens?

28:52

We kind of know what we got, but Hey, I'll still let you know anyway so good luck in all your SlateIn NASCAR DFS, a slate usually covers one race rather than several team matchups.
