This week, once again, the NASCAR Cup Series is headed to Worldwide Technology Raceway, which gateway for the Enjoy Illinois three hundred. There are two hundred and forty laps on deck for us on Sunday afternoon, which should equal out to roughly one hundred and sixty eight. Dominator points up for grabs and I'm recommending At least two potential dominators per lineup. I got to be honest with you, folks. There's not much to talk about this week. A, Worldwide Technology Raceway or Gateway.

I'm just going to call it Gateway from here on out. Sorry if the good folks at WWRT are watching. It's really a long racetrack name. It doesn't flow well off the tongue. Gateway works much better for what we're doing here today.

Uh Gateway is a short flack racetrack not exactly the most exciting track on the schedule um pair that with week one of the NFL being here I don't think a lot of television eyes will be on the race today uh which also means not the greatest DraftKings contests in the world so Uh, yeah, welcome to NASCAR season. Wild football is here, but we still have nine more weeks, and we will be here for them all at chipandnation.com.

First and foremost, they ran a fifty-minute practice session on Saturday with all drivers on the track at the same time. No more of this group BS. And... Besides a couple outliers, pretty much the drivers who we would think would be in and around the top of the boards were in and around the top of the boards. Who's number one here? Christopher Bell. Yeah, Christopher Bell topped the thirty lap average. This is a track where long run speeds will matter.

So Seabell on top of the boards, Joey Logano second. Again, Penske king of short flat race tracks, right? So not surprising to see that. Tyler Larson was seventh. Ryan Blaney was sixth. Denny Hamlin was third. Pretty much every driver you would anticipate being up near the front of the field of this thing practiced up near the front of this thing on Saturday. And the same shook out for qualifying.

Pretty much everybody we anticipated up near the front of the field or rather who should be starting up near the front of the field are starting up near the front of the field. We have Logano and Blaney starting first and third. They are the kings and they meaning Team Penske. They're the kings of short flat racetracks. And that's what this is.

So the fact that they are excellent at short flat racetracks and then they went and put it on the pole and third place respectively. Could be a long day if you're a Penske hater. Other than that, the only real qualifying outliers, in my opinion, would be Gilliland and SVG. They both practice pretty well. Gilly was in the top ten minus the fifteenth. The fifteenth laps, he was twelfth. That's still pretty good for Gilly. He qualified thirty-fourth.

And then SVG was also up near the top. He was in the top fifteen of every practice category and he qualified thirty fifth. So.

Those are really only your two like qualifying outliers and really in my opinion they're not really even qualifying outliers if you saw them qualified back there and you didn't see the attached practice you wouldn't be too surprised right like you would be like oh okay they're they're starting in the back it just so happens that this week they had decent practice to go along with it so other than that practice was kind of ho-hum qualifying was kind of ho-hum and I kind of think the race is going to be ho-hum as well um look I understand

It's it's and this is from a NASCAR this has nothing to do with gambling I understand that it's the week one of the NFL and like you can't compete with that right I get it Everyone understands that, right? But I really feel like you're giving up entirely when you put Gateway up against week one of the NFL. I don't anticipate a barn burner today, folks, if you're trying to get what I'm saying. I think this is going to be a boring one.

But anyway, let's go ahead and break down this potentially boring races starting lineup. And we are starting. Let me move my PDF in front of me so I can see better. And let me just make sure I'm not showing you guys everything. I'm not perfect. All right, starting on the poll, we have Joey Logano, as we already spoke about. He's plus-four-twenty-five on the... These top four are far and away the best odds on the book. Logano's plus-four-twenty-five, Larson's six-fifty.

He's the highest odds of the top four, plus-six-fifty. Blaney plus-three-fifty, and the Seabell plus-three-seventy-five. Those four are far and away your favorites. And then you have Denny, also at six-fifty, who's at tenth, so... Those four, those five, far and away your favorites today. Starting on the front row, though, like I said, is Joey Logano and Tyler Larson. Logano was fantastic in all forms of practice. He's fantastic at every ranking.

He really, from going from slow Logano to start the year to where we're at now with Joey Logano is fantastic. Young Money Larson is in second.

We're still waiting for him to have a dominating performance this season. Starting outside pole, if he gets the jump on Logano, clean air, that's great. He could dominate stage one. I just think it's really hard with Team Penske and Joe Gibbs Racing surrounding him. But he can't count him out. He has been trending upward lately. We're just waiting for him to do it, right? Blaney and LaBelle. Ryan Blaney and Christopher Bell in row two.

We already basically spoke on both of these drivers. Both of them A pluses across the board. Blaney was first, first, first, second, second, first, sixth in all aspects of practice. That's not surprising. Bell was twelfth, sixth, fourth, first, first, second, first. It really seems like Seabell's car is great on the long runs, and it seems like Blaney's car is really good everywhere. Would not be surprised to see these two, plus Lugano stinking up the show on Sunday afternoon. This isn't just a few hours.

Row three, Chase Briscoe and Carson Hosovar. No issues with Briscoe. Briscoe was kind of slow in all aspects, in all facets of practice, but it's Joe Gibbs Racing. They're fast. Sixth, second, third, third, third, and that third.

Those thirds were in the ten, fifteen, and twenty. So decent in mid-run practice. Not so great over the thirty lap average. The big thing with Jose Var is everybody hates him right now. That And by everybody, I mean, like, it seems like. Thirty five drivers on the racetrack. That stuff with with Kozlowski last week, in my opinion, is such a nothing burger like, oh, my God, a driver got spun at Darlington. The horror, the horror, the horror.

I've seen that happen for, God, I'm almost forty years old. I've seen that happen for many years. That it doesn't impact me. It's not like Josevar put Keselowski, you know, straight into the wall, like none of that, right? And it was, it's been a talking point all week.

In NASCAR media we've got like the owner of spire saying if keselowski takes out his chase driver then he has other drivers who can make out like their drivers like it's it's it's it's it's it's stupid it's a pissing match it's dumb do I think Host VAR is going to get dumped today. No, I don't. I think everybody's all talk, but it has been a talking point this whole week. It will be a talking point in the pre-race leading up to the race today.

Maybe you stay away from Josef Vard today just because you don't want to see your DFS fantasy money get punted into the wall because he's a driver with a personality. Right? So, yeah, I don't know. I don't know.

I would probably roll the dice on hosavar because he's very budget friendly uh his his power rankings don't look great but he's a rookie so they're not gonna look great because there's that much data there and the practice looks okay but with everything else surrounding him I think I think it might be a fade Up next, we have Bubba Wallace and Chase Elliott. I'm OK with either one. Elliott looked actually really good in practice. He has great track ranking.

When you have an eight plus for track rank and you're like top ten on the practice charts that matter why wouldn't you get ownership right um bubba wallace bubba wallace middle of the road probably a fade for me today in him I just don't understand why bubba's getting more I mean only by two potential percent than chase I think chase elliott should get a bit more steam than that We have Joe Gibbs teammates Ty Gibbs and Denny Hamlin. Ty Gibbs did not look great at all.

That doesn't change me from playing him. I'm just not sure how much or how many we'll get to a $9,200 ninth place Ty Gibbs with all of our other options. But if you want to go that route, hey, he's been fast all season. Denny Hamlin, fantastic. Third in the thirty lap average, starting tenth. Potential Dom upside plus PD upside. No problem with Denny Hamlin today. Alex Bowman and Zane Smith, they are both no for me dogs. They both qualified their speed.

I expect both of these guys to drop back. Sindrick and Ryan Preece, I'll take a shot on both. Uh, Sindrick is in the, uh, in that team Penske category along with Logano and Blaney and well, Josh Berry. So yes, give me a shot on Sindrick and priests. It priests is almost becoming an every week player pool player for me. It's better when he qualifies where we need him to be, which, fourteenth today, I'm fine with it. Yeah, I'll take a shot on Priest.

Mi amigo Daniel Suarez in fifteenth, probably not for me today. He did great for us.

God last week was the last week there's a lot of racing in my life folks he's done great for us uh when we don't expect it numerous times this season I just don't think today is going to be one of those days but I've been wrong before uh starting in sixteenth is josh barry uh yeah he's on a heater lately he's on these short flat racetracks it announced that he's going to be in the uh Legacy car that John Hunter got fired from.

All things are coming up. Josh Berry. I will say it is amazing how we forgot how shitty he was in the beginning of the season. It's like you take him the racetracks that he should be good at. And he's good. Amazing. So anyways, is he worth an open ride? I don't know. We'll see when he sucks at the beginning of the season next year, what people say. But that doesn't change today. Josh Berry, excellent play today.

Those numbers never really scare me for him because he's just a talent race car driver So he'll figure it out if he hasn't already so I'll take a shot at Chris Buescher if I get to him Probably gonna pass on Austin Dillon The second half of hosts of our versus Kozlowski is of course Brett Kozlowski. He starts twenty-third everybody So I spoke about Josevar and how everybody hates Josevar. Well, it seems like everyone hates Josevar after his incident with one Brad Kozlowski.

And everyone thinks that Brad Kozlowski is the one that's going to be extracting revenge on Carson Josevar and whatever. Yeah.

If we don't want to play and I'm not saying we as in I'm recommending you do this but if you're considering not playing carson hosavar based off of the potential of other drivers wrecking him today which is a high likelihood if you're making that decision then you should probably think about that with keselowski as well because keselowski currently is like the number one headhunter so to speak like like he's the one that said at the end of his race last week he has one coming and he has like a hard one coming or something like that So the talking point has been, well, Carson Josevar is, for lack of a better word, a terrorist on the racetrack.

And Brad Keselowski is finally going to be the one to snuff that out. If he snuffs that out today, he does it too hard. He could very easily ruin his own day. It ain't like Brad Kozlowski has anything to race for. Yeah, he's the owner, but he's not in the playoffs. He's not going to vault multiples drivers to get into a greater point standing.

So if Kozlowski does extract revenge today, you always have to be sure or be hopeful that he does it without wrecking himself. Yeah. Right? Like, as crazy as it sounds, if Kozlowski does something stupid, it ain't like he can't wreck Josef VAR, but then also in the process of doing that, break a toe link. You know what I mean? Like, can we project that happening? No, we can't.

But it's been a storyline all week like trust me if you were not anywhere near the NASCAR media sphere which trust me I don't blame you if you aren't but it has been like beating the dead horse all week long so if you don't want to play hosavar based off the possibility of keselowski and or another driver dumping him Maybe you keep away from Kozlowski as well just to stay away from that mess altogether. Kozlowski does give you plays differential upside dough, which is the right.

So just some food for thought. William Byron in twenty fourth. Hey, yeah. Love me some Willie B. They're still looking for just any sign of life. Like I don't know it's just it hasn't been a William Byron year um even like now like it hasn't been um like the like the the practice wasn't like killer right like you don't gotta like go out of your way to play Willie B but he is getting some love today Eric Jones and Cole Custer.

Both of them. This is like the F territory of the stone, by the way. Eric Jones. I like Eric Jones. He's talented, but he looked like crap and he grades out like crap. So that's probably a fade. Cole Custer, your slowest dog. S that's a fade. Austin Hill. No, I'm sorry. Just no. John Hunter Nemechek, he's hunting for a ride and I don't think he's going to find it today. Sorry, John Hunter.

God, I want to make some jokes that I shouldn't make. Michael McDowell at twenty ninth. He's I read something and I did some follow up research and like Mike Mack has been like. Getting into a lot of incidents is incidences lately. It's like all eyes go to Josevar, but Mike Mack's been dumping people too. So maybe it's just something in the water over Inspire. I don't know. He's getting a lot of decent love today.

And I think it's just because of how he grades in like recent form, track rank, track type rank based off where he's starting. It's not like he jumps off the page in any of those power rankings, but in a sea of red, There is some not so dark red, and there is some greenish around his practice speeds. So if you want to take the shot, go ahead. I understand why. Probably going to be a fade for me, though. Cody Ware, fade.

Noah Gregson, fade. I'll take a shot on. Got to save some money somewhere. Has some positive juju going his way lately. He is currently dating John Hunter Nemechek's ex-wife. So hey, all things going Noah. So yeah, I'll go Noah Gregson. Ty Dillon and Riley Herbst, that's a no for me, dog. Todd Gilliland and Shane Van Gisberg, and we spoke about those boys earlier. They grade out like trash, but they had a really good practice, and they're cheap. So, yeah.

For sure uh and lastly but not leastly is a ricky stenhouse jr in uh his practice was middle of the road he was in the twenties in all aspects uh he has a d minus for his track rank and he starts dead last if he finishes Top-twenty, top-fifteen today. That could be what you need to put you over the top. Am I telling you to go out of your way to play Ricky Stenhouse today?
