What Is a Round One Finish in MMA DFS?
Last updated October 22, 2026 by Ship It Nation
A round one finish is an MMA victory in the opening round by knockout, technical knockout (a stoppage because a fighter cannot safely continue), or submission (a forced surrender). In DFS, it earns an early-win scoring bonus.
Why It Matters
A first-round finish can give your fighter a strong score without much accumulated striking or wrestling, but it does not guarantee a spot in the highest-scoring lineup. Salary, points earned before the stoppage and other fighters' performances still matter. An expensive fighter who needs an immediate finish has fewer ways to justify your investment if the opponent survives.
Example
Say your $9,200 fighter wins by knockout two minutes into round one on DraftKings. You receive 90 points for the first-round win, plus his points from the action, but no quick win bonus. Another fighter who wins later after sustained striking and wrestling could still outscore him at a lower salary.
Compare first-round win odds with overall win odds, then ask how your fighter would score if the opponent survives. A strong favorite is not automatically a strong early-finish pick.

Common Questions
How many points is a first-round finish worth on DraftKings?
A first-round win earns 90 bonus points in DraftKings MMA Classic, plus points earned during the fight. That is not the fighter's final score: strikes, takedowns, knockdowns and control time can add points, and a qualifying quick win adds another bonus.
Does every first-round finish get the DraftKings quick win bonus?
No. The additional 25-point quick win bonus requires a first-round victory in 60 seconds or less. A finish at two minutes still earns the 90-point first-round win bonus, but misses the extra 25 points. A qualifying quick win therefore earns 115 bonus points before action scoring.
How do you identify fighters likely to finish in round one?
Look for a matchup that supports an early knockout or submission, rather than relying on overall win odds alone. Compare early finishing history, opponent durability and defensive weaknesses with first-round betting odds. Odds for a finish at any time also include later rounds, so they do not establish first-round likelihood.
